We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, many thanks to Neil who lite the wood burning hot tub , would love to return in the future.
Lovely drive down. Lesley (owner) was going on holiday but was in touch with me and gave me Daphne number to contact. Phoned her within an hour of our arrival and she was waiting for us and gave us a run round of cottage etc.Daphne also contacted me during our stay to check all ok.
Dog walks around area were plentiful.Hardwick Park lovely to walk to. Visited Hartlepool Saltburn on sea .Osmotherly Northallerton to name a few places.
The Dun Cow inn great place to eat.
Number 4 tearoom lovely homemade sandwiches and cakes.
We really enjoyed the area, but the property itself was very tired and needs work to be worth the price
Wonderful cottage with everything you could want, with a great amount of thought gone into what might be needed. Lovely comfy beds, and spotless throughout. There is a magnificent fire to cosy up in front of, although, the cottage is very warm and plenty of hot water. There is a hot tub outside that is heated by wood....something we will use next time. The village is great with plenty of little shops and tea shops, a wonderful market on Sunday, a magnificent church and a park called Hardwick Hall two fields away with lakes, gardens buildings and a visitor centre with tea room. It is ideally situated for the coast, the Yorkshire Dales and moors. Durham is also a short distance away. Thank you so much Lesley. We will be back very soon!!
The 2 of us stayed along with our 15 week guide dog puppy.
The cottage is nicely located in the attractive village of Sedgefield. Sedgefield is a very nice village with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs although some of the pubs seem to keep strange hours.
We were given a very warm welcome by our host who could not have done more for us.
The cottage was very clean, well equipped and comfortable.
I would recommend it to those after a quiet break in the countryside.
A lovely cottage, spacious for 2 adults and 2 teenagers staying for over a week. A great location in a quiet village with shops and restaurants nearby, and lots of places to drive to for days out.
The cottage had a nice, spacious living room. I did feel that the carpet could have done with a bit of an extra clean (dogs are allowed in the cottage). The kitchen had all the necessities, although we were disappointed that there was no extra touches such as perhaps a welcome pack, some cleaning products, soap and washing up liquid. Bathroom was clean and modern with a nice shower, although steps leading up to the bath were a little awkward and the temperature control on the shower was very stiff. Used the washing machine, which was fine, but again it would have been nice to have been provided with just 1 or 2 tablets.
Bedrooms were great with adequate storage. Great having a TV in the master bedroom. The double bed was very comfortable (the large room could easily have had a slightly larger than double bed). The two single beds were less comfortable, with rather cheap mattresses. Also, the curtains in the second bedroom were unlined and therefore the room was very bright in the mornings.
We didn't use the hot tub, as it didn't appeal (it looked like it could be a bit tricky to get in and out of!) and personally we would have preferred to have had a more spacious patio area to perhaps sit outside in the sunshine.
All in all, a great location, and we enjoyed our days out.
