Slightly rural location for a trip to York, but set amongst some stunning countryside. This was my first impression of this quite imposing hotel. I checked in without having to swipe a credit card, that's odd how could I charge anything to the room? I couldn't, embarrassing when I tried to buy my dinner guest a drink at the bar. I was given no information about the hotel by the man at reception, no breakfast times, where was the restaurant, when did it serving food? I went in search of the restaurant after being dismissed by the man on reception, the staff here were very polite and helpful, I did indeed book a table for dinner and the meals we had were extremely tasty and well presented.
The rooms are quite large, very clean, comfortable beds. I was having a good nights sleep until the maid knocked on my door at eight o'clock and opened the door, good nights sleep over with.
I didn't bother with breakfast and just checked out.
