Chainbridge Riverside Retreats
Reviewed 17 July 2011

Had a look at these cottages just as Neil and Jeanette took over in December and a lot of work was required to bring them up to the high standards Neil insists on.
In such a short time he has done a terrific Job and put in a lot of hard work to present them as a high standard accomodation.
We stayed for 3 nights in the Fushia Cottage that easily sleeps 6/7 and found it relaxing and very clean.Sony TV System and wireless internet come as standard( Dogs are allowed in this cottage). My daughters aged 7 and 11 enjoyed many rides on the nearby mini steam train with the free tickets that come with staying at the cottages.
They also enjoyed the rowing boats situated next door and the Mini Monsters play area just across the road. The local pub in Ruswarp is handy and friendly and a short drive up the road towards Sleights takes you to a pleasant riverside cafe. Whitby is only a short drive away so these cottages all in all are ideally situated for a break for either the North Yorkshire moors or the ever popular seaside resort of Whitby. We will be returning on a regular basis. Enjoyed by all of us and made very welcome. Thanks

First of all can I say forget all the old bad reports about this place the new owners have got it just right. The retreats are all well set up, clean and well maintained, we have had a fantastic two weeks here and would not hesitate in returning to spend another holiday here. It's only a couple of miles from Whitby and within easy reach of all sorts of places to visit in Northy Yorks.

This is an excellent place to relax and unwind. In a fantastic location, it is lovely to just sit by the river and watch the boats, ducks and steam trains go by! The facilities in the cottage are exactly what you need and a massive bonus is that it is dog friendly. We had a great time!

We went for a couple of nights relaxation and that is what we got. We stayed in Willow cottage - which has just been refurbished to a high standard with new kitchen and bathroom floor. How lovely to have a swan outside the patio door tapping at the window with a steam train passing on the other side of the river!! Travelled into Whitby to people watch, as it was Goth weekend and had a lovely meal at the Magpie cafe
We met the new owners of Chainbridge - Neil and Jeanette - and they have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the refurbishment. We would love to return later in the year and treat ourselves to a stay in the Boat Loft !!
When the miniature railway re-opens we will return with our Grandaughter in tow!!
