“Lovely cottage, great location, super little garden, parking not great”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Lovely village, fantastic butchers which also has sandwiches, cakes ,pies, sweets. Bacon and sausage breakfast rolls made to order. Pub ok but food only til 8pm. Lovely walk across fields and woods to Whitby (part of the Cinder path) . Had good weather on the whole, only a couple of showers her and there.

We thought the general store was tatty with very little in it - would not recommend it.

Kitchen small, not much surface area to cook etc, living room very small. Bedrooms lovely and bathroom fine. Garden was great and a barbeque with charcoal supplied.

Would go back if in area.

“Great little cottage in a good location.”
Reviewed 4 September 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We had a great stay in Ruswarp. Nice to be in a quiet village outside Whitby although parking was a bit of an issue. Great base for exploring the area and the beaches. The cottage was very well equipped for self catering for a family of four, we even were able to barbecue in style. It is located in a lovely village with great facilities, including a pub, cafe, great butchers and row boat hire.

“Cosy comfortable property in excellent location”
Reviewed 4 March 2013 for a stay in February 2013

We have stayed at this property during school half terms, and have now visited three times.
This well equipped cottage is always spotlessly clean and welcoming. It is comfortable, cosy and warm, and there is a lovely back garden. The location is ideal - Ruswarp has a local store, pub and butchers which offers excellent breakfast sandwiches. It is also only a mile's walk from Whitby, We walked in most days and either returned on foot or caught a bus back. It is also in an ideal spot for touring - Robin Hoods Bay, Sandsend etc are all within easy reach. There is no parking outside the cottage, but we found parking on the road not too far away, and managed to park outside to unpack and load the car.
We all look forward to returning.

“A comfortable spacious and relaxing cottage with a lovely garden”
Reviewed 5 June 2012 for a stay in May 2012

we enjoyed staying in this cottage with our dog. the cottage is comfortable and has a lovely garden which is accessed via steps and a path. The traffic was busy at peak times but otherwise not particularly noticeable. The only downside is that there is no parking close to the cottage. However, we left the car parked at the bottom of the road and walked the mile walk to Whitby every day and caught the bus back. There is also a train service from Ruswarp to Whitby. The local pub has lovely well priced food and you can take you dog into the bar area, but the drinks are expensive. The butchers across the road sell take away coffee and sandwiches. In Whitby We recommend Beckett's cafe, you can take your dog in and they sell good coffee and cakes. we will use this cottage again.

Liked least: The traffic at peak times you had to be careful walking down the road

“lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 11 May 2012 for a stay in May 2012

A great place to stay in a good location just 1 mile walk outside Whitby, with lots of walks and places to visit. The cottage itself is comfortable, clean and homely with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. There is a small garden that gets the sun, has lovely views and a patio with bbq and seating areas. There is a local pub, butchers and shop just down the road.
