“Nice place, not too far from Whitby”
Reviewed 23 March 2014

Just spent two nights at the Ruswarp Hall and was pleased. The facade is impressive as is the hallway with it's trophy deer head and sweeping staircase. The owners are pleasant enough and Ruswarp is one of those places you miss while re-tuning the radio but it has a nice pub and a butchers! The room is higher than it is wide and the bed-a standard double-does feel small when you have a king size bed at home. The room was clean but the whole place looks tired. The walls are an odd cream colour and they need repainting, the bedding has had multiple boil washes and is faded and the bed divan was very worn. However, that aside the hotel has a good feel and the breakfast was gorgeous. It is very easy to get to Whitby via the cinder track and it has lovely grounds which would be of more use in a summer visit. I would recommend staying here, just don't expect too much!

I stayed with family here and recommend Ruswarp Hall for those visiting Whitby without the hustle and bustle of the town. It is good value for money and the owners are very friendly. The breakfast is fab and bed really comfy.

We stopped here for one night. The building is an old grade 2 listed property. We had a very pleasant stay here. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was beautiful. Very clean and comfortable. Off street FREE parking! There is a pub just a short walk down the road for dinner. Would we stop here again.... certainly.

Situated in peaceful area. Ruswarp Hall was built in 1603. Very warm welcome by Alison and Colin and a lovely breakfast. They don't do evening meals, but the Bridge Inn in the village serves meals from 4pm to 8pm

Booked for weekend break.
Hotel easy to find, and looks impressive, ample parking at front of Hall.
Entrance to large hall, reception to the left.
Great venue and great customer service.
Lots on medieval tools and weapons on display, large sweeping staircase.

Room Tip: Room overlooking garden provides great views of the contryside.

After reading the other reviews we were unsure what to expect. But we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel was a lovely old style hall with all the trapping of the period of the building.
The room was reasonably decorated, warm and with extra heating available if required.
There was free WiFi with a good connection speed.
The breakfast was more than adequate even for those with a large apatite, well cooked and generous portions.
In all a very nice stay.
