Its good to visit it once - the program is absolutely similar for every river boat trip in Sri Lanka - 1) mangrove forest - perfect impressions 2) fish massage - not everyone would like it 3) temple's island - looks more "commercial project" rather than temple, but good for fun 4-5) oil island and cinnamon island - we didn't visit it, because thats just the way to sell you either oil or cinnamon
You should definitely visit some of those proposed river trips, because the adventure is interesting enough if you have time and especially if you're passing the river over, if you would be suggested to pass significant way to visit such a trip - don't waste time

Superb Safari!
We were taken to the Maadu River bio diversity area by Sam our Guide. We used Jaliya Boat Service with Roshan, an active and knowledgeable boat driver at the helm.Great experience around 64 islands, mangrove forests, visiting a Cinnamon hand processing centre, Hindu Temple, Buddha Statue, Cobra Snake Island, Bird Island, etc.The river, birds, animals, dense vegetation made for a surreal experience. SL Rupees 5000 for the safari included a wonderful surprise of a fish spa pedicure!
The Maadu River boat Safari supports the islanders by giving many a livelihood.Hughly recommended!

A feel of freedom and wilderness on this ride on the river waters through swamping forests. Beautiful to see locals living their everyday lives, including fishing and taking goods to market on the natural waterways.

We paid 5000 LKR(one boat 4 adult and one child)for boat safari at maadu river Sri-Lanka. You need to negotiate as different people quote different price. Price is for one boat not for number of people.

i always enjoy going along on this river by the boat, many island and i love the smallest island which is in the middle of the river. fish therapy spots,, and small cool spot on the middle of the river is fascinating, you could tast a king coconut while you are on the boat, visiting to the little house wher you could see how they make cinnamon skin dry. and there is a temple you could visit.
