Great venue set in the hills of Saddleworth recently taken over however i attended a wedding recently and found that the bar was overcrowded and it took well over 20 minutes to get served the bar is not big enough and is sited in the wrong place it needs to be extended and more staff on to meet the demands of the weddings.
The staff on duty were overun but this may be because of the number attending the wedding i would check how many are coming and staff appropriately but the bar is not big enough
One toilet was blocked and should have been closed down or cleared.
However the hotel is ideally placed and more investment would help it secure up market status for weddings prices were a bit steep for drinks.
If you are booking the venue then check how many are going and how many staff will be on the bar to ensure your guests have a good time
A very nice place going through teething problems but it does need renovation and a bit of thought in the bar area
i would recommend the venue but they need to look at staffing and maybe moving the bar down the other wall changing the seating and bar area aound it would make more sense

Room Tip: The hotel has no swimming pool i have marked this by mistake the rooms are adequate

From the moment i received a really friendly welcome at Reception from Kate this was a pretty much faultless stay. I immediately felt at home thanks to the genuine warmth of the welcome. When i got to my room it was spacious with a very comfortable bed. Although the jacuzzi bit of the bath did not work (but i had not realised it was supposed to have one and any way they do not really excite me) the bathroom was excellent. Decent size towels, plenty of hot water and room to move. By the time i went down to pre dinner drinks i was in good heart and yes dear loyal followers i was not looking for fault for a change!
The menu suited me and i had fish starter followed by and excellent steak, certainly as good as i have had anywhere else. Locally sourced and tasty it did the job. Steve, the Head chef, certainly knows how to deliver the right meal. The wine list was sensibly priced and i had a fabulous Spanish Rioja Reserva which although at the top end of the list was worth every penny. In fact we ordered an extra bottle it was so good.
A sound night's sleep followed by a great cooked breakfast which once again i could not fault. It was an outstanding stay at a very friendly hotel. The new management have turned the place around. It has a clean feel about it and everything actually works. Well done i shall definitely be back as soon as i can. One tiny really picky comment is that i would have liked better bread at breakfast but again i refuse to let that marr an excellent stay. WELL DONE and Thank you.
And yes if that is not enough the location was excellent with wonderful views and tranquility to match. hurrah!

Room Tip: All rooms are great but the upgrade was worth the money.

easy to find and plenty of parking. had problems getting into hotel as you had to phone and ask for someone to let you in. when in it was easy to register and escorted to room. fair size room with patio doors leading to the outside great if you are a smoker. bar service was great but had limited cider offerings. dinner in the restaurant was good. breakfast was good as well. leaving a was easy. I would return

Clough Manor hosted the reception of my son's wedding, and proved a superb venue!
In the months leading up to the big day, the staff have been immensely helpful, both to the couple themselves but also to the visitors who wished to book rooms for the night. They did everything possible to allay any anxieties and were painstaking in their efforts to meet all the expectations of my son and his fiancée.
On the day, which was unfortunately not conducive to photographs in the picturesque ground, the hotel provided an attractive space in which to take group photographs.
The meal was superb, as had been the canapés distributed in the period before taking our seats, with each course cooked to perfection, tasty, and served hot to all guests. Service was very efficient but never obtrusive, and the staff were unfailingly polite and friendly. The manager kept a close but low-profile watch over the whole event.
The function rooms themselves proved ideal, with a large space for the live band and disco, and plenty of space to sit in the bar area for those less inclined to dance. The evening buffet was equally excellent to the earlier food, and plates were replenished regularly to ensure that there was plenty for any guest wishing to return (some several times).
The whole event was faultless, driven by managers who are keen to please and to give the newly-weds the best possible start to their married life.
On top of a wonderful evening, the rooms proved very comfortable, and the self-service breakfast was beautifully prepared and displayed, providing a hearty start to the day.
The hotel is still hindered by some poor reviews of service under its old management, undeservedly so.
I would recommend anybody looking for a high quality wedding venue in beautiful surroundings to investigate Clough Manor; neither I, nor any of the guests who spoke to me, could speak highly enough of our experience.

We have recently had our daughters wedding reception her, and I cannot praise the management and staff highly enough. Kate was absolutely superb from start to finish, very professional, and the whole day ran like clockwork. The hotel management are renovating the hotel and are ongoing, I do not think we could have picked a better place. The wedding breakfast was absolutely gorgeous, and the evening barbeque also. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We have dined many times here food is excellent. and would recommend Clough Manor very highly.

Booked our wedding over 18 mths ago and I will say every single thing was amazing. Kate was brilliant through out. She looked after us from start to finish. Every single detail was the way we wanted it. Kate never questioned us (even if we did have odd requests hehe).
The whole venue is beautiful. From reception to the actual ceremony room, all amazing. I arrived just before 2'oclock and had a bit of a wobble. Kate was right there with me. Tissues, glasses of water and even a swift drink if I wanted it.
As we were pronounced husband and wife Kate was there with a glass of bubbly for us both and also for each guest.
After the ceremony we were taken round back for pictures. The back of the hotel has some fabulous gardens. Great for wedding pics. My new husband and I were then taken away for around 20 mins where we found a little foot path just 200 metres down the road. Again a great place for pics with all the greenery in the back ground.
Then came the wedding breakfast. It was unreal. The food was absolutely amazing. Every guest commented on how good the food was. The young gents serving the food were so polite and professional, I was over the moon.
After the meal we were moved out of the ceremony room for it to be changed around for our evening guests. It was brilliant as you get moved straight into the bar. At one point that did get a little cramped but guests then realised there were seats outside in the garden so many people went outside. The hotel looked lovely in the evening too, all lit up. You could see it for miles.
My only niggle is that there were only 2 bar staff on for the evening reception and as we had nearly 170 guests this got a little frustrating. However, when my dad had a word with Kate another 4 staff members came to help.
Evening buffet. We opted for the finger buffet. I didn't even get a look in but again, guests were so impressed by the food, they all loved it.
Kate then passed the reins over to Richard. Oh he was fabulous. When ever I needed him he was there. Again so professional and polite.
The rooms in the hotel were good too. Nice and big. The bed was really comfy, just what you need after a long day. We had a ground floor room which looked over the gardens. Great view to wake up to as husband and wife. We all went down to breakfast together. This was a buffet style breakfast. Cereals, yogurts, toast, fresh orange, tea, coffee and of course the ingredients for a full English brekki.

So i'll finish as I started by saying how amazing this hotel is and how perfect it was for our wedding venue.

Thank you to Kate and the team. You were all amazing.

Mr and Mrs Lees x

The lovely helpful staff at the Clough Manor are sadly let down by an arrogant and rude owner.
We were attending a friends wedding and checked in just after lunch. We were escorted to our rooms which seemed very nice.
Between the wedding breakfast and the evening reception my daughter and a couple of friends were having a drink in their room when the door was hammered on. On opening the door they were confronted by a man ranting at them for drinking in the room saying it was illegal. It later transpired that this was the owner but it could have been anyone as no introduction was made. This man needs to get some lessons in working in hospitality as all we were confronted with was rudeness. Also as a matter of point it is not against the law to consume your own drink in a hotel room but the hotel can REQUEST that you don't. The ranting owner was the first demand we knew of this. The wedding itself was lovely but spoilt a bit by this man.
On another note the room that at first had seemed very nice did a few faults. The quilt wasn't big enough for the bed and during the night it came out of it's cover leaving us with what amounted to a sheet over us and cold. The t.v. didn't work, fortunately we weren't in our room long enough for this to be a problem. The 'deluge' shower was more of a trickle and after waiting 10 mins for it to come warm we didn't dare wash our hair because there wasn't enough water coming out of it to rinse the soap away.

Room Tip: Avoid the owners . The lower floors seemed to have better water pressure.
