“Excellent house, fantastic staff!!”

Perfect home for our group! The home is amply sized for a large party. Our group was 10 total, and consisted of myself and my two sisters, two of us with husbands and children. The house was well set-up for our group as it gave us good separation of space, yet we all felt together and connected. One thing I didn't really understand before we got there was that the second floor is really the main level. You enter on that level, and the common areas where we spent most of our time were on that level (kitchen, dining room, living room, large patio) The third floor was a VERY large master bedroom with a private deck and very large bathroom, with another smaller room with 2 twin beds and another bathroom. My family and I took that level, as the stairs up to that floor were too steep for my sister. That's one thing to know, lots and lots of stairs, no matter which level you stay on. The other bedrooms and the den with sleeper sofa are all down on the first floor. The house was furnished with everything you needed to be comfortable. You feel so secluded, yet you are literally a three minute drive to West Bay. We didn't actually end up exploring the property and the keyhole beach as much as we had intended, but mainly used the home as a wonderful place to relax and de-stress.

The thing that really sets this home apart is the service. Both Eddie and Dulce were fantastic!! Eddie was always just a phone call away when we needed to go somewhere. He showed up promptly when called, always with a smile. I highly suggest using Eddie to get around while on-island. The roads aren't well labeled, and the obstacle course of potholes on the roads makes them hazardous to the unfamiliar driver. Worth every penny to have Eddie! I would have liked to adopt Dulce to bring home with me. She as full of smiles and was a great cook. We left her to decide what to serve us, always with local-style foods. Again, worth every penny!! When you are there, you are family and treated with lots of warmth and welcome. We had a medical emergency in the early hours of the morning, and every one of them bent over backwards to help us get it handled, and to feel comfortable with the outcome. They saved our trip with their prompt attention and loving service. Would absolutely stay again!!

Thanks Marie, for taking the time to write a review of your stay. I couldn't agree more that our staff sets us apart. We strive in every way we know how, to make L'Alizé a comfortable home in which to relax and have fun with family and friends. This month we are completing our outdoor kitchen and ping pong /game area. We hope this adds one more cool thing to do for "kids" of all ages. Thank you for being lovely guests.

“A Visit to Luxurious Paradise”
Reviewed 16 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We had an absolutely lovely visit at the end of May. It was like being dropped into paradise. Just the glorious views and breezes ( we never even thought of turning on the air conditioner because the breezes were so cooling and delightful) were enough to make it memorable but there was more. We spent most of each day outside- in the pool, kayaking, riding rented motorbikes, and snorkeling. The snorkeling right there in the two keyholes adjoining the property was fabulous- beautiful purple coral and fish of every color. The home itself is gorgeous with comfortable furniture and we ate most meals outside on the lovely veranda, enjoying some amazing views and delicious food cooked by Kaylee.

“Fantastic vacation in Roatan”
Reviewed 29 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I recently stayed at L'Alize with a group of about 10 other people. As soon as we arrived in Roatan, we were met at the airport by Eddie who picked us up and took us to the house (with a stop at the local supermarket on the way). Eddie was very friendly and helpful, and he was able to both drive us to, and pick us up from, various locations during our trip.

As soon as we arrived at the house, Tish was there to give us a tour of the property and give us recommendations on local attractions, restaurants, and businesses. Olga was also already at the house, preparing our lunch of pollo guisado. Overall, the service provided by Tish and Eddie, Olga, and their family was impeccable, and the meals cooked by Olga were all delicious and timely (we opted only for lunch on the first day and breakfast everyday for the rest of the trip).

The property itself was beautiful (looked just like it did in the photos), with great views from each floor of the bay. The house was clean and well equipped with all of the supplies one might need for a relaxing getaway. Olga and her family came each day to clean the house and wash towels, which was very helpful considering we spent our days at the beach or in the pool.

The location of the property was also excellent. We were a five minute walk from a private beach (Keyhole Beach) and a short drive from West Bay. There were plenty of restaurants and bars at West Bay (we enjoyed Argentinian Grill, Bananarama, and Beachers) as well as a beautiful beach with calm, crystal clear water for swimming.

During our vacation we also spent a full day in Little French Key, which we would highly recommend and is well worth the admission price, and the delicious Creole's Rotisserie Chicken in West End.

All in all, it was a wonderful vacation. I would happily recommend L'Alize to anyone looking for a beachfront getaway for a group vacation, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay at L'Alize again the next time I'm in Roatan.

Thank you for your helpful review. I am glad you enjoyed the option of Olga's breakfast each day. Having one meal less to think about gives you extra time to enjoy the island.
As you mentioned Edier is helpful and capable and certainly knows the island very well. Sometimes driving is not on your list of things-to-do while on a tropical island vacation. As you saw, having a car to get you to the less touristy places is, pretty nice. Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Today we are installing new wood French doors on the third level. We hope you will return some day soon to check out our new additions.

Our dive week on the island of Roatan began when we were met by Eddie, jack of all trades, sent to pick the eight of us up from the airport. Three minutes out of the airport and we began to see the value in having a local doing the driving. Eddie got us safely to Lalize and the view was captivating from the start. At the home we were met by Trish who gave us a thorough walk thru of the beautiful three level home. Clean, comfortable, and well appointed with tile and hardwood through out. Enormous decks surround the house on all three levels and the views of both ocean and forest spectacular. Snorkel gear, kayaks, and even a pair of local pay as you go cell phones with minutes already applied were made available to us. The owners have gone to great lengths to anticipate and provide for the needs of the guests and their efforts were greatly appreciated . Soon after our arrival we were off to our dive shop of choice , Reef Gliders, to check in and deposit our gear for a week of diving. On our return home we were greeted by the wonderful aroma of Olga's Island Chicken Curry! It was wonderful as was each meal she prepared for us through the week. With very little input we left the dining selections to Olga and without fail she delivered tasty and more than ample sized meals. Hiring Olga was one of our best decisions on this stay. As a suggestion, making simple suggestions to Olga about your preferences for things such as salad dressing choices, seafood or not, and requests for a protein such as eggs and bacon to accompany her wonderful breakfast beignets allow her to zero in on what you will enjoy most. Her cooking and light house work added so much to the relaxation of this trip I can not recommend taking advantage of this perk enough. I honestly believe that we saved twice what we spent and enjoyed our stay so much more because of Olga and her beautiful family who all pitched in. In the end it's like this, the property is beautiful and housed all eight of us in comfort and that should be enough, but there's more. What made this a truly incredible stay was the attention to detail, the availability of things such as the van, the cell phones and local information and contacts. Most of all, the staff , Tish, Olga and Eddie, and their wonderful family. Do not overlook this gem. We will return again.

Thanks for helpful suggestions and comments.
We make an effort to anticipate our guests needs and likes so it gives us a big smile to hear when our efforts pay off. I think you have accurately described how Olga can tailor her meals to your likes. She does try to accommodate to our guest’s likes and if you are willing to express your preferences in Spanish or with sign language or through her daughter who speaks English very well, she is happy to comply. I am glad you mentioned taking advantage of her cleaning periodically during the week. It is surprising that not all our guests request this. It is included and as you said, it helps some of us relax.
Thanks again for taking the time to give us a smile.

“Fantastic Experience”

Had a wonderful stay here!

Came with 8 other people and it was very affordable. The property is beautiful – there is a private beach just steps away from the house with really great snorkeling opportunities including a shipwreck! We actually went snorkeling in Little French Key and I have to say our own little snorkeling spot was much better. There is another little beach to the left of the main beach, you follow a path up and go through the fence. That beach has a really cool little grotto. You are fairly close to some great dining options (I recommend Celeste’s & Gio’s, didn’t try any others). There is also a ziplining park/monkey&iguana zoo just minutes away.

The house has everything you need – towels, washer & dryer, kitchen is stocked. You just need to purchase food & alcohol and you are set!

Oh and there's high speed WiFi and it works great.

The people who take care of the house are terrific. Tish, the property manager, is very sweet and helpful. We had Olga cook breakfast & dinner for us a few times and it was delicious and very reasonably priced!

Some tips:
-Do not forget your water shoes! I didn’t see any sea urchins but I was told there may be some. Either way, it’s rocky so you will need them! The house does have some snorkeling equipment (incl. flippers) but bring your own if you can - at least the mask/snorkel.
-Bring flashlights, you lose power occasionally
-Bugspray!!!! Wear pants if you are out in the evening, seriously. I put on bug spray and got destroyed the last night there because I was outside in shorts. Must have had at least 50 bites on my legs and scratched until I bled, it was bad

I highly recommend this property.

Liked least: The van that was provided with the property wasn't functioning well - stalled out on us and couldn't make it up the hill and we had to take taxis the remainder of the trip.

Thank you for the helpful review. I am glad you mentioned the nearby snorkeling . We certainly like to two keyholes and whenever we can, we snorkel directly from the beach closest to the home. Good suggestions on the bug spray. The bugs are their worst on still nights near the beach and the bites are not very noticeable at first. Consequently, it is good to just give yourself the precautionary spray when you plan to go to a restaurant on the beach or stroll the beach when there are no breezes. Thanks for taking the time to give these great suggestions.

“Wonderfully, unique property”

We were a group of 7: 2 college age kids and their friends and my sister, so this was a great layout with the kids taking the lower level and the adults upstairs. I was a bit surprised that you could not get to the lower level from the rest of the house, which wasn't an issue for us, but might be is you had younger kids. The pictures are completely accurate and the views stunning. We loved all of the decks and pool area and spent most of our time outside. The breeze was wonderful and I didn't find any issues with bugs.
I like to get a run or at least a walk in everyday and we found it a bit challenging due to the topography. We did climb the driveway twice, which was as challenging going down as going up and also adventured along the trail closer to shoreline. Most of our activity was in the water with the kayaks and snorkeling. We all used them multiple times, as well as the snorkeling equipment. The snorkeling was just as good, if not better, than the other locations we snorkeled during the week and it was right out our own beach! On the last day we also found the rope swing a 5 minute paddle to the right of the keyhole. The kids loved it!
We had Olga cook for the week, but found that a week was too much for us and not as much variety as we would typically make in our own kitchen (lots of rice and beans). It worked out fine, as we got to experience more of the local restaurants (Loved the Thai Place and Roatan Oasis) and had more flexibility in our schedule.
There were a couple of minor things like the AC going out in the kids bedrooms and a day out of the pool for chemicals, but they were all addressed. It was an awesome vacation!

Thank you for taking the time to review your time at L’Alizé.
I am sorry you had some trouble getting in your daily run. I am impressed that you decided to climb the hill a couple of times. There is actually a very nice walking or running trail that starts at the private beach and turns east toward the second keyhole. It takes you past the 2nd keyhole through an awesome eco system of mangrove swamps and ancient coral. You can see interesting birds and an occasional goat, or iguanas. If you stray off the path a little, being careful on the iron shore, you can see some incredible vistas of iron shore and turquoise waters. The run to pirates cove is a little less than 2 miles.
Unfortunately Pirates Cove is not well kept, I usually turn around as soon as I arrive, but getting there is beautiful. If you kept going east past the Pirates Cove, the road takes you to Flowers Bay.
I agree that the restaurants around West Bay and West End, offer a great variety and many are very good. We will continue to work with Olga to add variety to her menu options.
Thanks again for your advice. We hope you can return some day soon.

It's been less than two weeks since returning back from staying a week at the L'Alize and words aren't enough to describe how beautiful this place really is. My group of friends decided to vacation for our annual trip to Roatan and its by far the best decision we made.
We stayed at a hotel in west bay for two days till our whole group arrived and we anxiously anticipated our stay at the house. Upon driving down the winding roads, which made for great stories and giggles and screams as they were extremely narrow and rough, we finally took a glimpse of our home away from home for the week and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! The pictures do not do it justice (although very true to the pictures provided) .. There is just something calming about stepping foot into the L'Alize. We were greeted by the lovely and informative Trish. She took us on a tour of the house and settled us in. We also met Olga, hands down the 2nd best decision of renting the house. Having Olga cook us her delicious meals after a very long day of scuba and beaching was the best. HIGHLY recommend!

In all the house was very clean and had all the necessity's needed for cooking should you go that route, beds were good and sure did not need the AC all night or all day because of the great crosswinds. Everything was pretty much 5 - 20 minutes away via car (walking would be impossible due to the steep roads).

If you get a moment take a walk towards the keyhole and up some of the private houses in the back, gorgeous views and just a fresh of breath air!

Can't wait to go back with my family and show them the wonders of Roatan!
