We stayed here for a week and had a good experience. It s a rustic no frills place but had all the basics. We were in cabin # 15 which had 2 rooms (Queen in the bedroom and twin in living/dining room, which also had a large fridge that was a nice touch). The beach is nice and all the staff were friendly. My biggest comlaint is the food. It just wasn't good. I would've thought that being an island they would have good seafood but everything was overcooked and chewy.

Room Tip: #15 was roomy and has a full sized fridge but if someone is in #16 then you may be able to hear them...

Off a cruise ship, we had contacted Bananarama in advance and paid for the transfer, free drink (any drink) that was well worth it.

Its a bit awkward coming off the ship and walking further to catch the appropriate cab company and they did pack us in on the way there but it was fine.

Great facilities, showers, bar, restaurant and great chases on the beach. Yes, the vendors are all up and down the beach asking if you want anything all day (wait till the end to buy) so just expect it. Beach is spotless and the water amazing. Go!

Our stay at Banarama was in one of the cabanas. All of our needs were met. If we had a problem it was addressed immediately. Our cabana was always clean with fresh towels awaiting after our under water adventures. The staff was always attentive and accommodating. The dive center was very flexible and professional. I had some issues while diving and Daniel was extremely helpful. The reef is literally a few hundred feet from the beach. We were able to see turtles, stingrays, starfish, lobster, and many different species of tropical fish. We were so pleased with Bananarama and the reef that we plan to return next year.

We fell in love with west bay beach from a cruise ship trip 2011 and had to come back! Banarama was so relaxing as we spent most of our day snorkeling, swimming and paddleboarding in the clearest water we have ever seen and at night we listened to live music or enjoyed the entertaintment or watched sports at the bar.
Waking up in the morning to a delicious breakfast with great service from Wilson, Victor , Alberto , Carolina , Freddy and Alex was the perfect way to start our day all while enjoying the dreamy view!! Alberto was always walking around smiling and full of energy you can tell he loves his job! We even nicknamed him flo rider cause he reminded us of him:)!!!
When sunset came we loved going to the bar seeing one of our favorite bartenders Sandra who always took great care of us and always made us feel welcome and told us so much about the island - we just loved her!! She also recommended our favorite dish there the coconut shrimp - yummy!!! the dinner chef also cooked us an awesome garlic shrimp dish and the nachos as well are amazing- he was awesome ( sorry we forgot his name)
We really also enjoyed the bartender Edison, he was always there to talk baseball or soccer my husband and made us laugh a ton and he can make a mean mimosa as well!;) Edison was awesome and just has great personality as a bartender..
Zebby was another person that stood out to us he made us laugh a lot and just created a fun atmosphere as he would even break out dancing sometimes behind the bar and we had tons of fun with him !! Derry was also a great bartender and lots fun behind the bar - they all work so well together!!!
Banarama is on the best beach in Roatan and the view is the best and the snorkeling to the left of the resort is just awesome . you can even go shopping for souvenirs close by down the beach to the right on the beach and at the west bay mall close by to banarama!!
The vacation was fun, relaxing and we lucked out with gorgeous weather and an amazing staff that we adored!!:):) be sure to try the monkey la las and paddleboarding with avitar, he is the sweetest, coolest instructor on the beach!!!
We also enjoyed a boat trip we took with jay he is very personable and just knows how to set the mood for fun !!!!!!
The guys who help to carry your chairs on the beach work really hard and are always smiling the man who starts the fire every night is also a kindhearted person with a big welcoming smile ..
The resort is so safe with nothing to worry about as the security guards are all around and they are also just an awesome bunch of employees and super nice!!
We will be back !!!!!

First of all, we did not stay overnight. We came by taxi from Mahogany Beach area. We paid the entrance fee, and two of us paid extra to rent snorkel equipment. (By the way, the snorkel equipment was not the best). The beach was nice, and there were plenty of security people both in and out of the water. I walked up the beach a bit and found a more quiet place with some coral and snorkeled for quite a while. Saw more than I had expected. The bar prices were average and what we ordered was pretty good. We did enjoy our time here, even though there were plenty of people trying to get us to take their boat out. Most of them were nice, though, when you made it clear that you aren't interested. From what we saw, this was one of the better places to go.

Friends have told us of Roatan and Bananarama for a few years, we were skeptical but bought a groupon and tried it. It was well worth the money. While this is rustic, no TV, no pool, it's a very nice place to relax. The wifi does work well throughout the resort and in the rooms. Food was good, room was clean and comfortable, a/c worked great. We started in room 18, I would NOT recommend this room, it's next to where the mopeds park, and is heavily traveled- not quiet at all.
We moved to 15 (which was a planned move, it just wasn't avail the first 2 days). That room was much quieter, less foot traffic and no mopeds! There is a compressor for the freezer of the Island Pearl right outside that sounds like its going out and having trouble kicking on, but, I guess we just learned to deal with it. It wasn't a problem at night with the a/c running.

All the staff were helpful and kind. The beach did get crazy the one day we had a cruise ship, but we stayed in the island pearl section for the day, where cruisers couldn't go. We felt drinks were a little high at the Thirsty Turtle, walked the very short walk to the market bought liquor and soft drinks and made our own. Way cheaper, and no waiting on getting a drink:)

My only complaint, and something to watch for is the Sunset snorkeling cruise. This is advertised and out front of the resort and the vendor is in the hut of the recommended vendors. They lied about where they would take us, said it was too windy, but didn't mention until we were out about an hour. Didn't feed us as they said they would, just a few Doritos and 1 fruit stick. The guys that snorkel with you, would dive down, catch turtles, bring them up and let others hold and take pictures. This literally sickened us and we got back on the catamaran. This is not acceptable practice.

We are looking at going back in February, would like the Island Pearl side, but I don't think it's worth twice the amount. Will probably stick with Bananarama, and hubby plans on diving this time, as the dive center seemed to be very good

Room Tip: Don't choose #18

Had a great time in our cabana at bananarama......Weather was beautiful, very hot....Water clarity was out of this world, haven't been anywhere where it was that warm, 84 degrees
We loved the platform out in ocean and trampoline....also movie night on the beach and watching football on the beach on the big screen.....Special shout outs to the great employees, just like friends.....Zebe, Wilson, Tim, Albert, Freddy, Eddison and the only female bartender Sandra, who made a killer margarita.....We also loved our security guard, Anthony, although there are many more, he took care of us and made sure we were looked after. Our driver Steven took us on several trips and tours around island, totally enjoyed him..........Also Caroline is a wonderful person, with personality plus. Our dive guys showed us a great time....thanks to Daniel and special thanks to Marco for working with me on a refresher course....The food was great, especially the taco salad with shrimp and the nachos with shrimp.
We kayaked and paddle boarded and walked the beach...Vintage pearl restaurant was fantastic also, great ribeye steak and lobster, wonderful to have that also on premises.
My husband sends out special thanks to Edgar, hadn't ever had that great of a chiropractor, his neck was killing him, gave him a massage and he felt wonderful afterwards.....
Great trip to do is with Bay Island Adventures, Ray, jet boat around the island, they cook steak and lobster for you over on a little caye....Wonderful....
I really do see how you could easily stay for a month or two down there.....it was low season, only 1 or 2 ships in a week, fun to see all the people, then they leave and is quiet again, very relaxing place, the divers seemed to love it! many diving 3 to 4 times a day.....

Room Tip: We were right next to dive shop, didn't bother us as long as you were up by 7:00 am, which we we...
