What a lovely property and fantastic pool! We stayed in August and had a great time. Everything was perfect! The owners and staff were very helpful. The food was great. I enjoyed eating with the parrots every morning and swimming in the pool every afternoon.

Room Tip: I would recommend getting the larger bungalow if available

The West Bay Lodge is a small collection of bungalows. The proprietors are a friendly and helpful couple and are integral to the charm of the place. The staff is similarly friendly and helpful. We enjoyed several meals at the lodge, including the excellent lobster dinner. The lodge is in easy walking distance of the beach and restaurants of West Bay. A small shopping area, with a good deli, a coffee shop, and gift stores, is just a on the other side of the road. The lodge was very quiet. We would recommend the lodge to our friends.

A couple small issues to consider:
-A small menagerie of cats and parrots share the dining area at breakfast and lunch: fun the first day, less so later.
-The room, while not dirty, needed a “spring cleaning” (Or should that be a “dry season cleaning”?)

We stayed at the lodge from jul 14-21 didnt expect much from viewing the pictures on their website , but was pleasantly suprised at the condition and size of the bungalow, they also have ac which is a must in Roatan. If you get a bungalow that has a kicthen and you plan on making meals , the food is not that expensive if you go to the supermarket in French Harbour, they have most of the same groceries like rest of North America. From day one both the staff and owners(milos and celeste) were very nice and helpful with anything we ask/needed. We booked the july package that included breakfast and lunch , which in my opinion is the best way to go , since it gives you a chance to try out different places for dinner. At breakfast time there were lots of people from other resorts eating breakfast at the lodge, because it was cheaper than having breakfast at their resorts. After talking to few of them and hearing how much more they paid for their stay which didnt include any meals , i was happy i booked my stay at the West Bay Lodge. One piece of advice to anyone thinking of coming to Roatan is to bring spf 50 sunscreen(thicker the better) , we had spf 30 and wasnt enough. The sun is really strong in Roatan , so from noon-3pm not recomended to be in the sun. We learned this the wrong way when we burned a little while walking past noon. There are many different activities available to do like diving/zip line/butterfly gardens/marine park, generally you get better deals when you have 4 or more ppl for these activities. The beach is 2-3 mins from the lodge and snorkling is amazing at west bay beach, you walk in the water and after 20-30 feet you run into the reef which is like watching an underwater national geographic show in real time. Underwater camera is highly recomended since the variety of marine life is huge, anything from baracuda/eel/parrot fish...You can either pay with local currency or american dollars, the conversion rate is roughly 1/20, so 100 lempiras is around $5. One thing we will do different next time we come to Roatan is to stay longer than 7 days , the longer the better.

Room Tip: bungalow 5 , much bigger than the pictures show, perfect for family with kids or more than one coupl...

My husband and I chose this hotel based on the reviews. It was our first time to Roatan so we really had no idea what to expect. We had a queen bungalow, perfect for a couple. We had our own deck complete with hammock. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and the water was hot in the shower. The mini bar prices were cheap, especially compared to what you find in most hotels. And the bottled water was free!!! Huge savings. They have a 5gal (environmentally friendly) water bottle in the room. We just filled up a couple of small bottles we purchased and put them in the fridge every night so they would be cold the next day. As the other reviews indicate Celeste, Milos, and the rest of the staff are super friendly and willing to help. Breakfast was homemade (from scratch) and delicious, with fresh fruit every day. And if you don't eat all your eggs the parrots will finish them off for you. The snorkel gear rental price was better than anywhere on the island, and chocolate & sea salt scrub in the spa was fantastic. The walk to the beach is short and easy. For $10/chair you can rent a chair on the beach for the whole week at Banarama (because of a deal they have with the WBL). There are palm trees on the beach but as the afternoon sets in there's not much shade on the beach, but the Lodge has small easy to carry umbrellas you can take to the beach with you. All in all we had no complaints. Our fridge was not working the first day, but as soon as we let them know, Milos came immediately to our room to make sure it was repaired, and it had already been taken care of that morning by another staff member! We had a delightful relaxing stay here. The owners obviously take great pride in making sure every guest has a pleasant stay.

We jumped over to Roatan after spending a week on a church mission in Comayagua so peaceful and relaxing accommodations was what we were looking for. We found it at West Bay Lodge staying in # 1 Queen Bungalows - clean, cozy and well-maintained (water bottle in room was a hit for us as well as frig full of cold beers). Milo and Celeste are great hosts and staff, especially Oyuki and Monica, were extremely helpful. West Bay Lodge is a two minute walk to the beaches and restaurants in the area - recommend Beachers for reasonable prices/good food and "Bite on the Beach" - coldest beers on the beach and eel show after dark....cool......

We loved Roatan and will be back soon and highly recommend West Bay Lodge -

Milo and Celeste will take care of whatever you require - great hosts!

Okay, let me get my one and only complaint out of the way from the start. Our bungalow (#7) had a thin layer of fine dust on the counters and tables when we arrived at 7 p.m. Fortunately, the room was nice and cool, despite the fact that we arrived much later than anticipated. The dust was gone the next day, even though we didn´t say anything about it.

Now the good stuff. Celeste, Camilo and Jacob are three of the nicest people you will ever meet in the hotel business. We were greeted with a smile and kind words after a 14 hour day of travel. And yes, the rum punch was fantastic with nutmeg! One of our four bags were lost by Continental, (not lost, I was told, ¨we just don´t know where it is right now¨¨) Celeste and Camilo made a couple of calls to the airport and even checked with the airline when they went to pick-up guests. Far beyond what I would have expected.

We were travelling with two boys, ages 5 and 7. They adore Jacob, and Jacob even babysat for us so my wife and I could spend several hours alone snorkeling. His ¨rates¨were very reasonable!

West Bay Lodge has a half-dozen cats, several parrots, two watuzis, and a recently added a dog. All friendly, except for the occasional cranky parrot. Celeste is working with area hotels and restaurants to spay the cats.

Our room was very nice. A room with a door, and then a room off the living room. Both areas have air conditioners that worked well. The living room has a bit too much furniture for my taste, so we pushed it aside to have more open space...important with kids! Yes, hibiscus flowers were waiting on the beds for us. The beds were comfy. We had a nice view of the pool from one window (which, I forgot, was dirty), and a view towards the ocean from a big, clean sliding door which opened onto the porch with two comfy hammocks. No view of the ocean, just of an open field.

The kitchen allowed us to eat three meals in our room, and there is a grocery store practically across the street. The room has what may be the cheapest mini-bar ever found. Beers $2, half-size bottle of rum for $6, equally cheap cokes.

The pool is smallish, but nicely formed. After a long day in the sun on the beach and in the ocean, it was nice to retreat to a shaded pool to cool-off. There´s a little off-the-corner area that seemed to be the place to make-out for one young couple.

The hotel is very quiet at night. The beach ruckus (Bananarama) is a 3 minute walk if you want it.

We would definitely return. It was a great trip for our entire family.

We loved our stay at Wesy Bay Lodge. It is a tropical paradise just a short walk from the beach and a great hideaway when the beach gets too hot or crowded. The food is really good and reasonably priced. Try the lobster dinner. Celeste and Milos are wonderful hosts.
