“Great for us and our four year old daughter”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

We've been to Roatan twice. The first time we stayed with Milos and Celeste at West Bay Lodge, and the second time we rented a house at Turtle Creek. Without a doubt, staying at West Bay Lodge was the better value, and staying at West Bay Lodge, best we can tell, is the best value in West Bay.

They don't nickel and dime you. The rate is not only about the best you'll get in West Bay, but it also includes a great breakfast (our house didn't), free air conditioning (our house gouged us), and there was no need to rent a car, since the taxi's are always present there. We spent close to $50 per day on car rental when we rented a house. No need for a phone since Milos and staff would make the calls to arrange all the services we needed (e.g. - dolphin swim).

The pool is the best we've seen for a four year old. Cleaned daily.

The spa was good with professional massage therapists..

They offer a fair price for incidentals like wine, rum and snacks.

Milos is a carpenter by training, and was even kind enough to help inspect a house for us that we were thinking of buying-- no charge. When we left a swimsuit behind, they asked his brother, who lives in Portland, OR where we are from, to take it to us in the states, which he did.

Even though we didn't stay there this time because we were checking out a house for possible purchase, we gave them as much business as we could. I'm thinking that it makes more sense to go stay there when we go to Roatan than it does to buy a house.

We stayed at West Bay Lodge for seven nights in June, 2012. We picked this hotel after reading the great reviews on Trip Advisor and also because we tend to like small family owned hotels. We had a Superior Room, No. 6 which had two queen beds (the bed was a bit uncomfortable and had no box spring under the matress) and a kitchen with a well stocked refrigerator (beer, wine, soda, etc.) and also snacks all reasonalby priced. The bathroom contained a very nice shower. The room had air conditioning which worked fine after a little tweeking. Each room had wi-fi and our laptop had a fast connection. Each bungalow had a porch with a table, chairs and hammock. There were a few mosqitoes at dusk but they were tolerable with bug spray. One of their cats particulary liked the area of bungalows on our side and we ended up inviting her in every night and greatly enjoyed her (Maxie). Breakfast was included as well as coffee and juice every morning. Very delicious and we enjoyed interacting with the talkative parrots. We also had one lunch and one dinnter, both very delicious. There is a small bar and the rum puches are very good and potent. The pool was very nice and kept very clean and had a few floaties. The property was very well landscaped. There was a shopping center right across the street that had a store, pizza and sandwich parlor, bakery and wine shop as well as a souvenir and jewelry store. West Bay Beach was less than two blocks away. Very beautiful beach with excellent shore snorkeling and many restaurants (our favorite was Bite on the Beach.) The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The owners, Milos and Celeste, were also very helpful and involved in the day to day hotel operations. There is an on site spa and we had the couples massage - very wonderful! Overall a very nice stay and I would highly recommend this property for anyone planning a trip to Roatan. We definately plan to return some day.

Milos and Celeste were fantastic hosts during our wedding. The had a great ceremony put together on the beach with an arbor Milos built and decorated. He took great pictures and is one heck of a florist! They put together a meal afterwards that was fantastic in a nice romantic setting above the beautiful pool. The landscaping is gorgeous with many flowering plants and trees.
They are very friendly people and will take care of any needs that may arise. They truly care about you having a memorable experience.
The rooms are beautiful and the food is fantastic. Their place is located in town about a 3 minute walk down to a very nice and long beach. The Lodge is a place that I would recommend to anyone who wants to experience a relaxing vacation.

We have stayed at West Bay Lodge 4 times now and return when possible. The hosts are accomodating and fun to speak with. They seem genuinely interested in your stories and your stay.

The rooms are beautiful, the pool is perfect for relaxing and for children, and the breakfasts are delicious. I personally love the parrots that roam freely around the instalations. The white sand beach is a couple hundred meters away where you can walk easily to some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the world.

I look forward to returning soon!

My friend and I needed a little escape from life on the island, so we headed to West Bay to spend a night at West Bay Lodge. Celeste and Milos took excellent care of us. Our room was comfortable, with thoughtful touches like inexpensive mini-bar items and cooking facilities/fridge. We had a porch area with hammock and table and chairs to relax at. There's a pool with lounge chairs, and West Bay beach is a very, very short walk away. We ate breakfast at Celeste's, which was great, and very entertaining with the parrots that are at the restaurant.

This was our second trip to Roatan and West Bay Lodge. The wife and daughter had a massage at the spa and said it was the best they'd ever had. The food was superb at Celeste's. As before, Milos and Celeste were wonderful hosts and were more than helpful in every way. Just remeber, this is not a Sandal's. It is a wonderful lodge/bed and breakfast homey atmosphere that fits the island perfectly. Hope to return again and will stay here, no question!

My husband & I enjoyed an amazing week at West Bay Lodge & loved everything about it! Obviously Celeste & Milos have worked very hard to accomplish such an incredible dream as this tranquil & relaxed resort offers everything & more! The setting is very exotic & tropical with native flowers & plants everywhere & the ambience of West Bay Lodge oozes tranquility & a very comfortable charming environment! The bungalows are private & surrounded by nature & are very well equipped inside & out with hammocks & balcony furniture. The kitchenette is perfect for preparing light meals if desired & the fridge is well stocked & replenished daily. All these features make West Bay Lodge the perfect island getaway!

Celeste & Milos greeted us warmly & made sure we were comfortably settled in our bungalow which they graciously upgraded from Queen to Royal! Celeste oriented us & made sure we had everything we needed. We loved this personal touch that made us feel warmly welcomed & we knew from the beginning we were going to have a wonderful week! Both Celeste & Milos made sure to ask us throughout our stay if everything was to our satisfaction & if there was anything else they could do for us--the perfect personal touches! The staff are all very friendly, talkative & helpful & it is obvious they are happy to be part of the West Bay Lodge family.

We really enjoyed dining at Celeste's Island Cuisine restaurant & bar which offers a very laid back feel with awesome island decor & excellent food choices. We always looked forward to breakfast which was carefully prepared, presented & served & lunch includes delicious seafood baleadas with very colourful generous salads as well. Dinners are equally appetizing! All food is prepared fresh from the choicest ingredients with many local fruits & vegetables included in the dishes. Also West Bay Lodge's signature rum punch is a real treat! We welcomed dining with the pets of the West Bay Lodge family--meals included the company of the beautiful parrots & the endearing cats are right at home & know how to win the hearts of guests as well as accept tidbits!

West Bay Lodge is also very aware of the Roatan environment, preservation, conservation & recycling & their use of solar energy is commendable. The gardens around the bungalows are kept natural but are also well cared for & the pool is very inviting & clean. There are also lots of choices for seating around & in the pool & beautiful West Bay Beach is less than a 3 minute walk away. West Bay Lodge is perfectly located with a small plaza across the street which offers many choices including a well stocked mini-mart, deli, pizzaria & scooter/motorcycle rentals to explore the island!

The day spa is the perfect place to experience a soothing & professional massage or spa treatment with many choices at very reasonable prices. Seasonal packages at West Bay Lodge often include your choice of massage treatment as well. The decor & atmosphere is peaceful, serene & comforting in perfect keeping with Roatan's West Bay Lodge!

We have many beautiful pictures & cherished memories of our island escape & we highly recommend incredible West Bay Lodge for the perfect vacation! Kudos to Celeste & Milos for creating this perfect Roatan Island haven! Thank you both for everything!

Room Tip: All the bungalows are very private & nestled in nature! Your choice is purely dependent on the...
