“Enjoyable break”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 September 2013

Stayed for 2 nights with our sons.Arrived at 1 the check in time but our room was not ready, never mind put our bags in sons room, problem solved ! Mundersley is an old fashioned hoilday village, lots of people around but plenty of space for everyone.
Back at hotel rooms very comfortable and the renovations were obvious but looking very good ! Ate in the restaurant lovely bright airy room , food was great but very large portions could not finish mine but very nice.
Would like to return when all work is finished it should be a very nice hotel, good mix of old and new.
Ps breakfast was good, lots of choice and hot, very friendly staff which is always good.

Hotel is a great holiday style hotel, rooms have been refurbished, beds have cardboard feeling matresses and carpets have stains already. The staff were ' hot and cold' some were fantastic others were grim, no eye contact, no polite exchanges. Food- good menu what I would call honest great value cuisine, portions are large. Breakfast, good selection and plenty to keep you full all day, hoqever playing local radio, may be good for local activities and things to see, unfortunately we had the Ibiza sound track, too much, too early.

Stayed here at the end of July, the room was clean & comfortable & the shower was excellent, powerful & hot! The restaurant food was delicious but thought the buffet breakfast was kept a little too hot & consequently rather dried up, alright if you were down early! Hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the beach & coastal path, the restaurant staff were extremely pleasant & we would certainly go back.

Stayed here bank holiday weekend with my partner, celebrating her birthday. Yes the Hotel is undergoing refurbishment which was plain to see, we were in a new room which was quite comfortable and fairly spacious - although this did not apply to the shower! I am 6' 3" tall and it was impossible for me to bend down and retrieve the soap! When I did attempt this I constantly knocked the temperature lever to scalding - not good!. Also the room was extremely hot during the night and lots of noise from outside. We decided to eat in the restaurant on the first night - also not good! My partner ordered prawn cocktail which was satisfactory and I ordered thai fishcakes which were very hard and overcooked, they were also covered in cheap chilli sauce which was totally overpowering. We both ordered steak for main and at £18.95 was both overpriced and tasteless and as for the chips - not sure how they were cooked, there were too many of them, not sure who cut them, they were the worst chips I have ever been served. It was a shame because the staff were very nice - especially the restaurant staff who are being let down by their chef. Dont think I would go back to this hotel.

We stayed at the Royal over the Bank Holiday weekend in August. As we booked very late, most places were full and to be on the coast in a hotel that accepted dogs, the choice was very small - either here or somewhere up the coast who wanted £350 a night. The Royal was £80 in contrast. It's being refurbished at the moment and it shows, but that's not my major gripe. We were staying in a room facing the road (about half do), but the problem is underneath the window is the outdoor area of the pub in the hotel. This meant that (as the weather was ok) there were people out till past 1am, chatting and smoking. As the room's aren't well ventilated, without the window open it was stifling. So, the choice was a hot room or a noisy smoky one. Not good. You are also greeted with smokers on the front steps as you walk into the hotel. It's surely not that difficult to find an area away from the hotel that smokers can congregate? On the first night I asked if we could move room, but the lasy on reception told me it was full and that's life! Oh dear.

The cooked breakfast looked pretty poor, but toast and cereal are in plentiful supply, so no probs there.

The room'#s are ok, but the highlight is the shower. I'm 5'11 and the attachment came up to the top of my head. As it's fixed to the wall, you can't move it, so to shower, you have to duck - not sure which genius put this in! Apparently this is standard in all the rooms!

So, not great, but for £80 a night at least we didn't feel ripped off, which is something, I suppose.

Room Tip: On the non main road side

stayed 10/8/13 in room 252. Staff and owners were friendly and helpful, found hotel to be everything that people say on here, room good, clean, a little basic for an executive room, thought room room was on same line as premier inn. Shower fixed to wall unable to adjust height, was ok for me as I'm 5ft 1" but for my partner, he is 6 ft and had to bend to fit under it. Food was fantastic, the evening meal was lovely and large portions and breakfast had a large choice, everything you could think of for breakfast, plenty of it and the cooked breakfast was piping hot. Our only problem was it was very noisy at night we had a baby crying near us which sounded as if she was in our room, if only mum and dad got out of bed to see to "amy" instead of shouting at her during the night. Would have been nice if other guests considered there was other staying in hotel apart from them and didnt slam the doors, and i heard every male quest get up and pass urine during the night. So my main problem would be with the other quests not the hotel and think i will go back to staying premier in just for the quiet night. Sorry as nice place

Room Tip: take ear plugs

We've stayed here before and will continue to do so. The double room (with a four-poster, we treated ourselves) was lovely and clean with an ensuite shower-room. Breakfasts are huge (if you wish them to be so) and fresh with a breakfast bar to serve yourself. We also have meals in the evening and you'll not complain about having too little!!! Prices are very reasonable and the service is good. There is a range of bars... the old-fashioned one is comfy and with leather seats, the newer addition is light and airy. Outside are two terraces for enjoying the sun... and a cigarette ... with your drinks etc. Wifi works well both in the building and on the terraces... which is a boon to those who like to keep their iPads etc close to hand. The ale... couldn't be better! Four different real ales in good condition and all on hand-pumps. The owners are very much hands-on and take an interest in the well-being of the guests. The hotel is 'dog-friendly' - if the dog is well behaved.

Room Tip: We've only tried the four-poster rooms... but they are excellent. Enormous bed for a good night...
