“Real Carribean Paradise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2010

I would like to thank Coral Reef Club team (Scarlett, Joy, hello!!)) and management for my wonderful wedding and the best vacation!!!

Rooms: we had a garden room; it’s very spacious and light, with quite big terrace coming into the tropical garden. Room-service excellent, house-keeping - great - always clean (2 times per day)

Beach: though it was a bit too small, the sand strip is just 2-3 meters, you have to go to the grass zone if there’s no place. But there were not many people during our stay, so it was not a problem. There are also trees on the beach, which make it nice and cool. The sea is good, a bit rocky, but it’s everywhere in Barbados. The whole territory of hotel is a very beautiful tropical garden.
Pool is not big, but very nice.

Staff: everybody is extremely friendly and helpful. All your requests and wishes, reasonable of course, are fulfilled.

Dining: the restaurant is not just a hotel dining, but a real good restaurant with exquisite dishes. $ 100-120 per couple for a dinner with wine, so think of all inclusive if you’re not planning to go out every night.

Guests: yes, this is not a party-hotel. 60-70 years old is average. But they all were mostly very nice English ladies and gentlemen, so we loved the quiet and comfortable atmosphere. And nobody can stop you from going to the Gap every night if you need parties. Oh, and it’s kids free, which we liked))

Thу only small disadvantages that can be mentioned are:
1. No wi-fi in rooms or lobby. Which is ridiculous. There’s a “computer room”, but...
2. Water sports facilities are too close, it’s not nice to swim with jet-sets at all.
3. Air condition is old and noisy

Overall – the best place for relaxing, quiet and luxurious vacation. In Coral Reef Club you feel very special and feel like part of some private club.

We had our 40th Anniversary at the Coral Reef Club starting 3rd October to 17th October 2010. The weather when we arrived on Sun 3rd was thunder and lightning as was Mon but after that the sun shone and apart from the odd shower the temperature was 31degC.
The hotel was everything you would expect from a 5+ star family run hotel. The food was excellent to the stage where we didn't go out to dine due to the food quality. Drinks are expensive, not just in the hotel, but throughout the island, so beware or take your own duty free. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful as indeed were the Barbadians. Coral Reef for us is certainly worth another visit.

We chose Coral Reef Club for a number of reasons including perceived quality, size, location and the presence of a dive centre. In the last couple of months some TA reviews have been less than flattering so we went with open minds. Our expectations were more than exceeded. We had the warmest of Caribbean welcomes and everyone we met was friendly, helpful and courteous. Our Luxury Junior Suite had a wonderful terrace overlooking pool, tropical gardens and the sea and was well appointed, freshly decorated and very comfortable. We were on half board and dine around included three local restaurants. We tried one of them and it was excellent, but the rest of the time we ate at the Coral Reef restaurant. We enjoyed our meals - it's fine dining most nights, with a BBQ on one night. The owners are also the managers and instead of the normal manager's cocktail party in the bar guests were invited to join the owners on the terrace of their home. It was a convivial evening and guests mixed.

One recent posting has mentioned that the hotel is only suited to people in their 60s. That really surprised us and although it was quiet season and the hotel was quiet guests ranged from 20s to 70s. It's not a party hotel, but that's clear from the website. Most people were there for relaxation, good food and a lovely beachfront location.

The dive centre was a two minute walk from our room and we enjoyed some great wreck dives as well as some pretty reefs and good visibility.

We will certainly return.

A couple of years ago the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association introduced a programme called StayCation. It enables locals, residents and Caribbean Nationals to experience a number of hotels and other tourism offerings on Barbados.
My wife and I chose Coral Reef Club to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a truly wonderful stay.
The property itself is beautiful with outstanding and meticulously kept gardens.
Our room (Almond) was just a few feet from the ocean with a spacious patio and a bathroom to die for.
The staff were friendly, helpful and provided worldclass service.
We would have absolutely NO hesitation in returning, preferably for a much longer stay.

We have been to Coral reef since 2001 and have already booked for this year. We have taken our daughter twice and been as a couple. We go in Oct normally during the half term and we meet loads of returning guests. There is a very mixed age group and I think this is great, as you can stay at the bar, go out to the clubs or just play a quiet game of backgammon with Trevor the barman. I can't beleive that people would pull up the bed covers to check the beds, I find them the most comfortable beds in any hotel and I travel a lot with my work. We just love this hotel, the service, the food, the beautiful grounds. Yes the beach does get a bit of wear but the beach further down is wonderful. The local people are lovely and there is so much to do and see. We always hire a car and go over to the East coast and Crane Beach, see the surfers..
I can't fault this hotel and I know many people can't as they do have many repeat guests.
The watersports staff are also very helpful and we ski every day and have great fun with the guys.

The excellet location is spoiled by poor service, poor cooking and an increasingly complacent management who seem unable to accept complaints constructivley, always refering one to the hotel's repeat bookings which possibly represents an ageing client base.

Barbados to start with wasnt the right place for us. We were looking deserted beaches, no big hotels etc..so it was the wrong island to start with.
We stayed at Coral Reef for 2 nights. The staff and the service was amazing!! We were very happy. The rooms were spacious and nice. The dinner was really good - very high standard. There was a beach in front of the hotel, nice beach but again not up to our standards.
The breakfast needs improvement.

I think the hotel is ideal for older people and not for our age (25-35). I find it suitable and ideal for people around the age of 60.

But again i should add that the staff was amazing. Very professional and helpful.
