We stayed at Mango Bay for ten nights (12 – 22 March 2012 inclusive) and we enjoyed an absolutely fabulous holiday at this marvellous hotel. It was definitely the right choice for us.
Mango Bay is welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Friendliness greeted us the moment we arrived when we received a lovely cold rum punch, and this friendliness continued throughout our stay.
We very much appreciate all the care and efforts they’d gone to in order to ensure that we were comfortable and had all that we needed. As I use a wheelchair I had requested in advance a ground floor Oceanfront Room, extra pillows and a chair to use in the shower. Everything was there and they had even provided some steps to help me get into the shower, which I hadn’t asked for but that just shows how thoughtful they had been.
Our lovely room was number 312 (Lovesusa, you must have been in “our” room just before us and we liked it just as much as you did!), on the ground floor with a super terrace overlooking the boardwalk and then down onto the beach. It was wonderful to be so close to the ocean and to be able to hear the ocean in the early mornings. Room 312 is very roomy with plenty of shelves and storage space. We were kept very clean and tidy every day by our housekeeper – thank you so much, Pamela.
Each evening, while we were at dinner the turndown service arrived to organise our bed and leave a chocolate. At the same time, our room was sprayed with insect repellent. This seemed to do the trick as neither of us had a single bite, whereas usually we get several. We did also use the Repel repellent wipes from Boots The Chemist – the tropical strength ones with Deet.
Absolutely everyone was so friendly, as well as helpful beyond imagination. No sooner said than done! Certainly, Shireene, Candice and Hermione seemed to take extra good care of us when we needed help. (We did have some health issues necessitating Doctor GC to visit us twice, and also Nurse Rock to visit us every alternate day – thank you both).
The ambience of Mango Bay is one of peace and friendliness, from both the staff and the other guests. We met some lovely fellow guests and enjoyed chats with them at mealtimes. We relaxed, we read our kindles, and, of course, we enjoyed the Banks beer!
The restaurant was exceptional and we really enjoyed the very varied menus. The house wine was also excellent – really not worth the trouble of buying anything from the wine list. We thought the servers were incredible. They all worked together well as a team, again nothing was too much trouble and it was lovely to see their big smiles and happy faces.
Overall, Mango Bay and its staff made this one of the very best holidays we’ve had so far – actually, probably even the very best – and we will definitely visit again, now that we’ve found this fabulous hotel.
Our thanks to everyone.
On our last day we were asked to complete a questionnaire about our experience at Mango Bay. The final question requested that we name any member of staff who we felt was particularly good, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough space to name everyone so we said “everyone”. However, we’d like a chance to name them all now, although sadly this list can’t possibly be complete and we will surely be missing someone from it as we can’t remember, or didn’t catch, all the names.
Shireene (Shireene Mathin-Tulloch, Hotel Manager)
When we said “everyone” we really did mean EVERYONE, and we thank you all so much for making our holiday so wonderful.
