Mango Bay All Inclusive
Ranked #2 of 4 Hotels in Holetown
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 22 September 2008

Just returned from a 6 night stay at the Mango Bay, having spent 4 nights prior to this at the Hilton

Stayed in a Deluxe room which was excellent. Very comfortable beds and facilities in the room.

We got a fair amount of rain during the stay but it did not ruin the holiday really and we managed to get most things done. The Cat trip was postponed for a couple of days so we missed that and on our last day it was out in the middle of a massive storm that caused a few worried faces from onlookers in the bar. Eventually though all OK. The storms did cause the creek to overflow a couple of times (and Holetown to flood).

The food was excellent and the service from the staff superb. Deeone was a great little "server". The guys behind the bar were good, but Alvin please smile mate - we know you really do like us :-)

Fellow guests were excellent company and special regards to our "new" friends from Liverpool Chris and Chris - sorry we had to miss the wedding

Holetown bars were good fun as an alternative to the Mango occasionally.

All in all a great little hotel. Booked it through http://www.hotel-caribbean.com/ and got a great deal including free trip back to the airport from a excellent driver

My sister and I stayed at Mango Bay Sept 6 through the 13th.
We thought the food was excellent. Terrific choices and the wine is always flowing! I can't imagine too many restaurants could have better food than what we had at some of our lunch and dinners. To sit outside and eat meals while gazing at the beautiful ocean is amazing. The staff was very friendly and nice. We had a bit of a problem before we left to go to Barbados, my sister had broken some bones in her foot and ankle. The staff that knew about this couldn't have been kinder in getting ice, asking how she felt and waiting on us in the bar and restaurant. We also met so many nice people while we were there. Mostly British who were great fun to talk with. Pool area is nice and quiet and very relaxing. We would love to return!!
The only thing that I would recommend is bringing bug spray and having your room sprayed which we found out the hotel will do on request. Next time we will do that. We ended up with quite a few bites, but we still had a wonderful time.

We agree witth all the excellent comments and reviews about MB but just a few points I think need to be made.
1. The creek..as pointed out in brochures it can overflow and did spectacularly on our visit. The beach was wiped out as was the water quality..............no real problem so far as the MB say they will make alternative arrangements.
Well they did of sorts but it was like pulling teeth; no real plan considering this happens every year.
I expected a trip to another beach every morning and afternoon as the MB water was severly affected.
What I got was a management that seemed to resent putting on the trips and kept saying the beach might be open tomorrow.

2. Dinner seating, as the hotel was full during our stay seating inside the restaurant was needed, unfortunatly it depended on your reservation time as to your chance of an outside table.
If you booked for dinner before 8pm then you were almost guaranteed an outside table; after 8pm then you went inside.
Inside was for the most part hot and no A/C a bit like a waiting room as the staff took the tableware to make up outside tables as they became available.
It needs a rota of room numbers with every room being seated inside once or twice whatever time their reservation, just to even things out; not being put inside 6 out of 8 nights.

The organisational problems got in the way of a fab stay and some great staff and mostly great food

My husband and I stayed at Mango Bay from Aug 9-16 in a superior room. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and his 50th birthday. The hotel staff should be comended for their personal and excellent service.

The resort is small and intimate and kept very clean. The dining and wait staff provided great table service and the chef should be commended for his wide variety of dishes that were presented so beautifully. I tried many new dishes and was never disappointed. They really tailor their meals to all.

We participated in the glass bottom boat tour, the two-hour catamaran trip (which we highly recommend). We swam with sea turtles which was very cool. We took the trip to Bridgetown, but I found the shops to be very expensive compared to our prices in the U.S. We did have a lovely lunch at the Waterfront Cafe.

I also received a great swedish massage from Janelle which was so relaxing. Some other excursions that we purchased were the Island Jeep Safari which was so much fun. We spent about 6 hours in a Land Rover touring the island. We also visited Harrison's Cave.

The week went by so fast that we did not have time to partake in a rum tour, but we did sample many of the delicious rum drinks and our bartender Jonathan made the best drinks.

We met two great couples (Jaime & Tina) and (Rob and Sally) from London, England and they made our stay more fun. We thoroughly enjoyed their company. We all visited Lexy's Piano Bar and danced the night away until closing. This piano bar is literally steps from Mango Bay and has a fun upbeat atmosphere.

The entertainment really added to the evening atmosphere and each night it was something different (jazz, reggae, steel drum, limbo, R&B, top hits, etc.. The resort did an amazing job in setting the mood for dinner with candles and torches and of course music playing while you dine.

During our stay, most of the guests were honeymooners, couples and some families with children all of which were well behaved.

My husband and I will recommend Mango Bay to family and friends and will definitely stay there on our next trip to Barbados.

Stayed here for ten days in July. We could not fault the food, facilities, cleanliness or helpfulness of the staff.

The food is first class, and always enough variety. The cocktails are brilliant - and if you want something not on the menu, the great staff will make what you want- or invent something new for you!

Most of the entertainment is good, especially the steel drum man and 'Just Human'. Some of the others are rather mediocre, but you can always go out to the piano bar next door if you want music (but drinks are UK prices!). Do join in the limbo dancing, and have your camera ready!

The inclusive watersports are brilliant, and as long as you book a day or two in advance you will be able to get waterskiing sessions.

Mainly an adult resort, but the children who were there seemed to amuse themselves as long as there were other kids around.

Oistins is worth the trip, great food and music.

Did get bitten by mainly unseen mosquitos (or it could be sandflies during the day), so recommend repellent day and night. Staff will spray your room in the evening to ensure you don't get bitten overnight if you ask. The mosquitos do not come from the creek behind, even though some reviewers seem to think it was stagnant.
I really hope that I will be able to get back there again one day - as it will be extremely difficult for any holiday to beat this one!

The danger in returning to a place that you have already visited (apart from being boring) is that it never lives up to the euphoria of your first taste.Going back to Mango Bay 2 years on the trot was a really smart move.
Choose the upgrade at all costs, the ocean view rooms are to die for. They are tidy, immaculately presented prepared and cleaned.
Reception is occasionally a little laid back, security efficient but unobtrusive,I suffered an ear infection and Ambrose (the security guard) offered to walk me to the nearby medical centre at 3.30 a.m.
Restaurant delightfully located.with attentive and cheerful staff.
Management always available, always interested and effective.
This is not a five star hotel,it doesn't pretend to be, it is however a tidy friendly and professionally run place,in a great location with keen staff who seem to genuinely be eager to please at all levels.
It is not slick or clever and if you want an anonymous 'Hilton' with staff smarming all over you you this is not really the hotel for you and if that's all you want you may have missed the point of visiting Barbados.
These are proud bajans doing things with a certain style and flair and at their pace and I really think that this is the charm of the place.
As a visitor you can only get a snap shot of what a country is really like from the inside of a hotel room,I came away with a positive feel that I was valued and that this really is great country full of wonderful people.

Not very flashy, but if you enjoy relaxation, several activities, the beach, the sun and good food, you will like this resort. For the money and what you get in return, it was a very fair deal. This is the smallest 'all inclusive' we have stayed at. In the less expensive rooms, you can hear the noise from the street bars mainly on Sat. and Sunday. We joined them on Karaoke night until about 12:30, but the party went on to about 2ish. Use ear plugs and stay in these rooms and save 300 to 600 $$. We even had a ocean view on the third floor, with the least costly room. Over 50% are Brits and they were all quite friendly, especially with me, having been born in UK, but lived all my life in US. Use their history on them to amuse them. The staff was mostly friendly and use the resort sponsored island trip and save money. Use the bus system for transportation and mingle with the locals, whom we found to be very nice. We took a bus from the GAP back to the resort and saved $26.00. Not a great place for teenagers, better but for young familys and couples. Do the Oustins Fish fry, or youll be bored that evening. Check out all the local places up and down the beach.
