“Friendly place, excellent food but some noisy rooms!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2009

This was our third visit to Mango Bay. Previously we stayed in the superior rooms but, as we booked late, we could only get the garden view rooms which, unfortunately, back on to the streets with restaurants and bars. These were OK but on Friday to Sunday nights they were VERY VERY noisy, which went on to about 3 am. The staff are all very friendly and the food was excellent. I was a bit peeved when entering the restaurant to be given only inside tables instead of sitting out in the open space. I mentioned this to the reception saying was it because we were in the garden rooms and was told no. After that, every meal we were shown to the outside tables! If you have a problem, they will try to resolve it straightaway. Also one day our room wasn't cleaned until after 5 pm. When I mentioned this to reception, it was done by 9 am the next day! My overall summary is that if you can afford it, definitely upgrade the room because the superior ones are bigger, better and much quieter. All in all, a good place for couples, not for families. Suitable for 40 plus.

just returned from mango bay,it was everything we wanted .the sevice is great ,the bar staff can be a little quiet but there willing to talk when you want it.the food is fab and the staff are so lovely nothing is to much problem.the weather had not been to good before we arrived so part of the beech had been washed away but did not affect our stay.there are so many free trips and things to do that come with your stay.if i had one moan it would be about the evening entertainment, its pretty much the same every evening, they could have a couple of more lively nights for the younger people.

23 of our family and friends, including ourselves had a fantastic time at the Mango Bay. The Manager,Shireen, and her 'right-hand' woman, Josea, really do have a passion for hospitality. Several of us were given a room upgrade upon arrival which was appreciated. Other hotels should take note that if upgrade rooms are available then why not? It is such a great policy and 'major plus' point to do this. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Robert, the restaurant manager was great too. He was especially attentive and caring when my father-in-law was very poorly. We loved beach-front location and the food was very very good. The range of watersports on offer was the best we have ever experienced. It can be tricky when recommending a hotel to friends/family who have spent a lot of money coming out to Barbados for your wedding but we can honestly say that everyone of them were extremely happy with the Mango Bay. We loved the double sunbed baskets and the evening entertainment, I adored the comfy huge bed, and will definately go back.

Mango Bay is a lovely homely resort with little touches of luxury all about you. We were upgraded on arrival to a larger room in a quiter part of the resort away from the evening entertainment as we had a young child. The staff were friendly and helpful and curtious at all times. The room was clean, bright and beautifully decorated.
The food and menu was very good and was changed regularly so as not to get boring and stale and there was great choice of foods.
The beach was clean and inviting and the sea calm and crystal clear. Our daughter loved going in and out and felt confident as the sea was so gentle.
A must to do is a catamaran trip with Cool Runnings up the west coast of the island with lunch and snorkiling with the turtles. It was an amazing experience and so much fun. A visit to oistins is also a great for a sample of bajun food and music. A brilliant atmosphere. Possibly a little overwhelming and noisy for very small children though.
Also worth a trip is Orchid World, and the Soup Bowl on the east coast of the island.
A thoroughly brilliant holiday and a definite to go back to.

I cannot praise this hotel enough. from the moment we arrived the service we received was wonderful.we had an ocean view room ( well worth the extra money) with a great view. the food was superb, the atmosphere was laid back and entertainment first class. i have to mention Cleston who arranged tickets for the cricket for us, he really is the hotel's mr fixit. also all the staff in the restaurant, they were so friendly. the hotel is within easy walking distance of holetown, bridgetown is an easy bus ride away, you must go on the local reggae bus ,its loud its packed but its great fun. this was our first trip to barbados but it wont be our last and we will definitly go back to mango bay

What a great place.

We’ve been to a few other islands in the Caribbean, and this was our 4th. visit to Barbados, but this was the best hotel by far.

Everything was pretty much spot on – from the very friendly staff (nothing was too much trouble), to the great food (as good as many up-market restaurants), to the beach, the pool, the bar, the room – everything, in fact.

Water sports (including some motorised), are good, and there’s plenty to do, both at the hotel and on the island if sitting in the sun isn’t your idea of a great holiday.

There’s a very intimate feel to the hotel, which is helped by its size. It is situated right on the beach, with a lovely swimming pool in the middle of the hotel grounds. If solitude is wanted, all the rooms come with a large balcony, or patio.

I notice that a number of other reviews don’t recommend Mango Bay for younger couples (we’re in our late 50s, but like to think we’re fairly young at heart an in outlook!), but there were a number of 20/30 year olds when we were here, and they really liked the place as much as we did. To be fair though, teenagers might get a bit bored if there were no others around.

The evening entertainment is OK (he best nights were Fridays and Sundays), but a bit middle of the road for me. It is more like background music, but it isn’t bad.

Holetown (it starts right outside the hotel entrance), is lively, with loads of bars, clubs and restaurants. The shopping is OK, with all the usual tourist stuff. You can go to Bridgetown for more choice (you’ve got to try the local Reggae buses – BB$1.50 per trip), in about 20 minutes.

All in all, I can’t fault the hotel, and would definitely go back there again.

This was our sixth stay at Mango Bay and what a dandy it was!!! We normally visit Barbados is March, but decided to try it at the end of January to break up our harsh Canadian winter. From the nice young man who picks up your towels, the chocolate fairy who leave a treat on your pillow to the room staff, the bar (Hi Alvin) and dining room staff, the chefs, Ernie and his brother Tim, the receptionists (Ryan is our hero!), the managers, Josea, Shireene in particular - this is the place where exceptional people can be found.

Our rooms were nothing short of outstanding and breathtaking - and a marvellous surprise! It's a long story that I won't get into, suffice it to say - the rooms were awesome!

The restaurant provides excellent meals with a fine variety of choices for the pickiest of eaters. During the one afternoon where it rained for an hour or so, we enjoyed a number of tasty concoctions from the bar - the "pool water" was the most interesting. Alvin still makes the best vodka martini on the island.

The spa provides a decadent facial and massage to complete the great time.

For those of you who enjoy late hour fun, just cross the front entrace to Lexy's Piano Bar. It's a blast!
