After lots of years of restauration and repairs, visitors can admire the extraordinary architecture of this town hall which is without any doubt the most beautiful town hall of Belgium.
Both exterior and interior deserve a few hours of your time.
Don't forget to pay a visit to the museum next to the townhall

The entrance is via the tourist information center, where one is warmly welcomed. The first floor presents the history of the city, with a.o. small cabins where a historic character tells about his life and his part in history of the city. The second floor is an exhibition of gorgeous Flemish walltapestry ! The third floor contains a collection of religious gold and silver objects and also an enormous inheritance of a deceised inhabitant who collected magnificent silver household goods such as chandeleers, dishes, cups, bottle covers and so on. Really amazing what you can see there. We spent well over 2 hours in the museum, so it's really worth visiting.

Oudenaarde becomes one week-end per year the capital of the cycling world when the Ronde starts. Having been there, I can only recommend you experience the atmosphere on such days: crazy and passionate. It is a perfect excuse to take a stroll in the city and visit the amazing Town Hall, a delicate piece of Gothic architecture that reminds the past of the town has been rich and glorious. The building now hosts a fascinating museum where you will discover that past, mostly linked to powerful people and the linen industry. The battle of Oudenaarde is nicely put, along with the several visits of French King Louis XIV in the city. As far as I am concerned, one of the nicest surprises Flanders has to offer if you take the time to dig a bit. Highly recommended stop for everyone.

15th Century Town Hall Built as a blueprint for the much grander Stadthuis in the Grand Place in Brussels. Take the town Hall tour and visit the new museum. A good half days visit .

The town hall of Oudenaarde, is known as a classic example of late Brabant Gothic. It was built between 1525 and 1536. On the spire of the town hall stands a bronze statue of local hero 'Hanske de Krijger'. ('John the Warrior'). Inside the building is now a museum, where tapestries are exhibited. The total collection currently has about 20 tapestries. Also, there is a collection of silverware
