The Leopold Hotel is brand new and still slightly under construction, that said it's in a great central location and the staff could not be more accommodating. It's less than a five minute walk to the centre of Oudenaarde but also has access direct to the Schelde.
We had 2 bikes with us and were impressed with the secure, bike specific storage, given it's location in the heart of Flanders and RvV inspired decor it's bound to become a favourite with cyclists very quickly! It's also right next door to the RvV museum in Oudenaarde.
The rooms were a good size with blackout curtains and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Bathroom was well appointed and breakfast was included! Free, secure on site parking is definitely a bonus too

As others have said this hotel wasn't the easiest to find and I am assuming the building works are part of an extention to the main building which in turn gives visitors a Fawlty Towers type impression but a decent room which was clean and the staff were very helpful. Two minutes walk from the centre of town where there are plenty of places to eat and drink but we were given the advice of eat on the ferry as the hotel hasn't yet got a restaurant. We were in a large group and it was a one night stopover for us so was adequate for our needs.

Room Tip: Very quiet area when we were there so the choice of room didn't affect us.

It didn't start well as we could'nt find the hotel. When we eventually found a sign it was pointing in the wrong direction. The room was very well furnished and had a new room smell!!! Breakfast was a bit hit and miss. At 9.30 on a Saturday morning there wasn't a lot left on the buffet- the scrambled eggs were burnt because the heat was turned up to high and there was'nt any bacon or sausages left. We enjoyed our stay however and will return.

After finally locating the hotel (which is in the middle of a building site) we were pleasantly surprised - the room was lovely and very clean. Unfortunately for us (or fortunately for some) our arrival coincided with a major beer festival and one of the sound stages was right outside the hotel. The noise started early but got seriously going at 11pm and we requested a change of room at 11pm to a quieter side of the hotel and this was absolutely no problem for the staff on duty. The staff seem to multi-task, doing meals, bar and reception but the hotel is fairly new and as yet not finished so we made allowances. The manager (Gaiska) was amazing and is an major asset to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he always had a smile on his face. He is definitely in the right job ......

The restaurant on the other hand needs to move to the next level. The staff are 'making do' until they get up and running fully with a lot of pre-prepared meals. Dinner is probably better eaten elsewhere until this happens but breakfast on site was very nice and included in the price. Bar snacks were good.

All in all we would stay there again and fingers crossed the restaurant is up and running with a chef on site.

Room Tip: We unfortunately struck a weekend with a beer festival with the stage outside the hotel and it was n...

A nice new hotel in a very convenient location for the town. Pity the restaurant is not yet operating but there are food places within five minutes walking distance. They are still fixing up the hotel so there were contractors drilling and making a little noise. The manager was very helpful and eager to please. Give it few more weeks and this hotel will be ready to full steam.
