This review is for The Bothy Bar - part of The Atholl Arms but I cannot see it listed
We visited last wwek. Excellent bar and atmosphere and just what you want after a days hiking. The menu looked ace but unfortunately mixed reviews on the food.
I had the steak stuffed with haggis. Was sooo tasty. Unfortunately my partner wasn't as satisfied with his. He ordered the venison olives but they were not good. The inside tasted processed and the mash was very lumpy. Such a shame considering how promising it read on the menu.

“Lovely Food”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

We arrived here not long after they had opened for lunch. Was already a couple of people in and it only got busier as we sat so a good inidcation of it's popularity. The choice on the menu was actually pretty good, more than I thought there would have been it has to be said. We both choose the Pheasant burger and the food was excellent, really impressed with both the quality and the portion size. Price once again was bang on what I expected to pay for it.
Waiting time to pay our bill was a little bit lengthy but with only memeber of staff working on a Monday afternoon in March can be forgiven for that! I will definitly be back in the future!

“Great food but poor service”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

Came here for my stag do while staying in a nearby house.

We came in shown to a private dining room with a log fire on and the eight of us sat down. Quickly served with drinks and menus brought through for us.

Lovely choice and we ordered enjoying the local ales and fine wine. Food was superb high standard and very quick arrival.

After the food, tea and coffee (Which did not have the tablet that was on the menu) this is where the problems arrived: firstly the fire went out and on a night where it was pretty chilly outside would have been nice if they had left some logs or stocked it for us, secondly we were all wanting more drinks and nobody came through for orders, we had to walk to the bothy bar (Other side of hotel) to order drinks, to begin with they did bring them through however later on we were having to take our own drinks through. We again had to go ask for the bill and then again to pay it.

All and all poor service after a fine meal.

We did also come back the following day despite this as were out our lodge a few hours prior to our train hoping to get some lunch.

Arrived at 11, told there was no food or drink till 12, sat in a room for fully 35 minutes waiting for maybe a tea or coffee or just a hello but alas not.

At 12 still noting until at around 10 past we asked for a drink and a menu. Again food for lunch was pretty good but still service poor! Shame as nice traditional hotel/pub.

“Impressive Main dining room”
Reviewed 10 February 2014

Group meal for 45 was served in huge dining room with minstrel gallery and log fires in this Victorian built hotel. Most food was delicious, although serving times were a bit erratic and all did not eat at the one time due to this. Food was tasty, haggis neeps and tatties superb, with a good sweet as well. Some disruption at the moment with the front car park being fully repaired, so don't worry about coming in a side entrance and feeling the cold. The rest of the hotel is warm and welcoming. Stags heads and old weapons. Great for visitors passing through to visit Blair Castle in the village.
