Reasonable food, husband's steak wasn't cooked how he wanted it but my meal was fine. Friendly staff

“over cooked fish”
Reviewed 23 April 2014

Called in for a bar meal the menu look good just a pity the food did not match up to what was put on the menu. fish pie may have been home made but when put in a microwave to heat it up the fish was left over cooked and rubbery. Feeling we may have caught the kitchen staff on a bad day we foolishly returned later on that week for a Sunday lunch. Only to find this was no better than our previous visit, in future we will give the Athol Arms a wide berth

“A lovely meal in a relaxed traditional pub”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

We ate here twice this Easter weekend, once for lunch and the other time around 4.45pm. The first time we had smoked haddock with bacon and cheese sauce, steak pie and our two children had childrens meals which they enjoyed. My husband and I normally eat half and then swop so we can try both. Both were excellent, yummy and comforting. The chips were especially good, nice and chunky and if not homemade, they certainly looked and tasted it. The 2nd visit we had steak pie again and fish pie to share. Again, lovely tasty and filling. The atmosphere was nice, busy and there were lots of walkers sitting outside in the sunshine enjoying a pint. We stayed at the caravan site opposite and will be staying there again in May when we will, for sure, be dining here again (probably for the whole weekend!) If you are looking for a lovely pub meal at a good price, look no further.

“Mixed reviews”
Reviewed 13 April 2014 via mobile

This review is for The Bothy Bar - part of The Atholl Arms but I cannot see it listed
We visited last wwek. Excellent bar and atmosphere and just what you want after a days hiking. The menu looked ace but unfortunately mixed reviews on the food.
I had the steak stuffed with haggis. Was sooo tasty. Unfortunately my partner wasn't as satisfied with his. He ordered the venison olives but they were not good. The inside tasted processed and the mash was very lumpy. Such a shame considering how promising it read on the menu.

“Lovely Food”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

We arrived here not long after they had opened for lunch. Was already a couple of people in and it only got busier as we sat so a good inidcation of it's popularity. The choice on the menu was actually pretty good, more than I thought there would have been it has to be said. We both choose the Pheasant burger and the food was excellent, really impressed with both the quality and the portion size. Price once again was bang on what I expected to pay for it.
Waiting time to pay our bill was a little bit lengthy but with only memeber of staff working on a Monday afternoon in March can be forgiven for that! I will definitly be back in the future!
