The appartment was big, with two romos (one with a double bed and other with a single one), living and open kitchen. The bathroom was big too, all furniture are simple but ok and useful. There are all the things you need to cook and prepare meals. The building had elevator. There are car parking available for free and near, several places just in front of the building and a lot in a public free parking lot only 50-100 m from the building. The location is great, is quieter, and is near the highway, 2-3 minutes by car. From Los realejos you can arrive in less tan 1 hour to almost every place around Tenerife. The housekeeper, Chari was very kindly and helpfull.

A very good-value choice if you:

- have a car (OK there’s a good bus service very nearby but I wouldn’t want to rely on it)
- like Ikea style (very minimalist but clean, smart and modern)
- want to feel like a local, away from other tourists

Arrival could be a problem but follow these instructions and all should be fine: know exactly where the building is located (google maps/streetview helps), try to have the local phone number with you if arriving late and most importantly be aware that reception is in ‘Edf Altema’ (at the far side of the next building down the hill). The only sign on the apartments themselves says ‘Residencial San Isidro’.

Los Realejos is an unpretentious town only two minutes’ drive from the motorway which will get you to anywhere on the north coast and even North Airport and Santa Cruz within half an hour. Puerto de la Cruz is hardly more than five minutes, even South Airport's only an hour's drive. Walk for two minutes and there’s a supermarket, banks, shops and several locals’ cafes, restaurants and bars. Nearby parking’s free and easy, and safe (I left the car windows open all night with belongings in view, no problem!)

The apartment itself has two small balconies and - from mine anyway - a great mountain and sea view. But no washing machine? Oh yes there is, it’s on the roof: no kidding. It’s in a separate locked compartment so you may need to request the key.

Ideally they’d offer a few extras… aircon, a dishwasher, wifi, non-Spanish TV, a kettle and toaster and perhaps some instant coffee. But you’d only end up paying a lot more. Here for half the price of a cheap hotel room you get three times more space, your own kitchen and a place that feels brand-new. So long as you’re OK with what some might consider disadvantages, stay here and save money.
