We spent the first 6 days of our honeymoon here and had a fantastic time. The cabanas are beautiful and have great views out into the jungle canopy.we even saw a toucan-the national bird of belize- just outside our cabana which was a highlight. we were the only people staying for the whole 6 days and so had our own pool, restaurant and guide! It was amazing I have never experienced such friendly and attentive service (without paying extortionate prices when I find it never feels that genuine!) we had our own menu every night and the food was delicious and very varied. The jungle BBQ and night sleeping under the stars on the bird watch tower was very memorable and we did some great trips including butterfly happy hour and river tubing. All the staff and sharon and jim (the owners) were so welcoming and go out their way to make sure you have the best time. Damian our driver and guide was really knowledgeable and we enjoyed getting to know him whilst we were there. Do not stay anywhere else this place is perfect!!

It's always special to hot a couple like you. Thanks for your review and providing us with some great pictures. Your toucan is amazing inasmuch as you took it in the wild. We hope your Belize jungle adventure was only the tip of the iceberg for a lifetime of amazing travel.

My wife and I received the most impeccable, warm, caring and genuine service from everyone we encountered while staying at the Mariposa Jungle Lodge.

The few days we spent here in early April were barely enough to scratch the surface of all the things there are to see and do in the area; and after each day's adventures we would return to our cosy cabana and clean up before eating an absolutely delicious 3 course onsite dinner prepared by the staff.

Our visit was over all too quickly, but memories of our wonderful stay at the Mariposa slip into both our thoughts regularly. There's so many places on earth we haven't been but we have sworn to go back here !!

If you like adventures this is the place. In four days we saw Caracol, ATM, a butterfly farm, zip lines, caves, and a waterfall swim. The owner also arranged all our excursions and drivers. They also arranged for a driver for us to Tikal in Guatemala (which was awesome). Augusto and Damien were our drivers and tour guides and they were incredibly knowledgeable. The food was amazing and very local. We had a great time.

Thanks for the generous review and especially the fabulous pictures you posted. Many of our guests manage to see toucans on our property but your close-up shot proves an exceptional sighting. And, on behalf of the Belikin Brewery, thanks for photographing our "national beer" to demonstrate its meaningful place in a Belize jungle vacation. It was a pleasure to host you.

We had such an amazing stay here over New Years Eve this year! Best service we've ever experienced in the world! From the moment we stepped out of the van, the service was impeccable - They even had a cocktail waiting for us before we even checked in! Not only did they arrange all of our trips (with excellent recommendations), but they arranged breakfast to go and sent us with snacks and towels for our adventures. We were definitely the envy of other travelers who joined us on our excursions from other resorts. Seriously, no detail was too small. From washing our shoes after a particularly muddy adventure, to personalized dinner menus, to letting us borrow their cell phone when we headed into town -- we felt completely taken care of the whole time. And the resort... beautiful! I loved sitting on our enclosed patio and listening to the rain and the monkeys. Everyone who worked at the resort was so friendly. Big shout out to Misa! Thanks for the great memories.. we will be back and will definitely recommend to others!

The owners, Jim and Sharon, as well as their staff gave my daughter and I personalized attention and we connected as people. The thatched roof bungalow with furniture made from local wood was interesting. The meals were local specialties. Through their travel agency they also suggested and made arrangements for us to visit very special attractions including ATM (fantastic Mayan cave), Rio On pools, Caracol (Mayan city), Belize zoo/animal rescue centre and the Howler Monkey Sanctuary.

It was our pleasure to host you and your dynamite daughter. I'm so glad you conquered ATM and joined me in proving there's adventure travel for youthful seniors to enjoy even after Social Security sets in.

Thanks for your review.

When we arrived, we were greeted promptly at the airport and the adventure began there. The owner, Sharyn and her manager Nelmarie, quickly helped us get on our trip to the resort. Be prepared for a drive as the lodge is about an hour or so away. The roads are rough in places but keep in mind you are in the jungle. As we traveled to the resort, we were given the history of the area, the flora, names of the cities, and anything that might be a point of interest. When arriving at the resort, our luggage was taken to our room and we were served a wonderful meal. In fact, all the meals that we were served were very healthy, fresh and tasty. We were given three meals a day and the portions were generous. On our excursions, they even packed a delicious lunch with fresh vegetables and fruit. Our cabana was perfect for us. It was private, clean and romantic. It is the perfect "jungle" experience. At the time we were there, there was no air-conditioning, but a fan was provided and we were quite comfortable. The neat thing about having an open air cabana is that you can hear all the jungle birds and nature. We loved waking up to "pure nature". Wi-Fi is available, but only at the lodge, which for us, was a good thing because we didn't have any distractions and could enjoy one another. TV was available in the lodge as well for movies. We never had time for this as we enjoyed our fellowship with the people at the Mariposa. They are outstanding when it comes to service, information, arranging your tours/excursions, etc. The tour guides for the Mariposa are outstanding as well. On all our outings, the tour guides were top notch and could and were glad to answer any question we had. All of them spoke and understood English so there was never a language barrier. Also, the grounds of Mariposa are beautiful and well maintained. Fresh floral arrangements were always in our room and at our table. All the flowers were native to the area. The Mariposa is a MUST if you visit Belize. We stayed in Ambergis Caye as well but overall, we felt like we got more value for our money with our stay at the Mariposa. Thank you for making our 30th anniversary memorable. We planning on being back. :-)

When planning our 12-day Catamaran sailing charter out of Ambergris Caye we decided to add a 3-night jungle extension and chose Mariposa Jungle Lodge for our stay. Though the jungle stay was brief compared to the sailing charter, it turned out to be the highlight of our entire Belize visit. Mariposa, a little jewel in the jungle, provided us with extremely clean, modern and comfortable accommodations in a charming and very private cabana while being looked after by the most endearing and caring staff. Mariposa is a small resort, but perfectly suited to couples, small families and/ or groups who enjoy the benefits of smaller resorts where guests are made to feel like part of the family . Amenities at the lodge include laundry service; a refrigerator with cold drinks and snacks for purchase in your cabana; on-property hiking trails; outstanding meals prepared and served to accommodate your schedule; pre-packaged and/or customized adventure itineraries: free wi-fi and more. Everything you could ask for in a Belizean jungle stay so that you have ample opportunity to either relax or completely immerse yourself in the local culture and history found in the area. Our only regret is that we did not plan for a longer stay at Mariposa.

Room Tip: The screened-porch in the Jaguar Cabana offers a hammock with an excellent view of the jungle
