“Beautiful hotel with great view of the lake”
Reviewed 11 May 2013 via mobile

We spent in 2 rooms-appartment nr 312 four nights with my wife and daughter. The third floor was beautifully renowated, the lake view is astounding and the service is swift and nice (although missing character a little bit). So far great. A little drawback is breakfast: you can live with that but no attempt to make it interesting experience: no prosciutto, plastic scrambled eggs, only white bread ... a little bit on the cheap side. Also I was sorry for people staying for dinner because the restaurant is completely missing any atmosphere. I cannot however report on quality of the dinner food, we did not even try it. But this is not any problem at all as there is a choice of restaurants in the close proximity - just dont buy accomodation with dinner in advance.

We stayed for only 2 nights at the Hotel Milano at beginning of October 2012 and what a lovely break we had.
We upgraded our room to a dual aspect room with a large balcony and im so glad we did! The veiws were AMAZING! Lake Garda is a beautiful place and the scenery is just to die for!

Breakfast was fantastic - prob the best we have ever had on the continent. So much choice and delicious. The waiting staff are very friendly too....

ABOUT THE AREA:

Maderno is much quieter than towns such as Garda and Salo - however I have to ask the question..... could have have been able to afford a lake view room in a hotel in a busier town? The answer for us was NO! I would much rather have breaktaking views over a wider choice of restaurants any day! :-)

Because winter season starts at the beginning of October, we couldnt fully take advantage of the ferry services but i recommend a visit to Torri. The ferry leaves every hour or so and takes approx 30 mins. Torri has a little market and restaurants to choose from for a lovely lunch. From there we caught a bus to Garda! Garda is a fab place - i just wish we had more time to spend there.

There is a few lovely restuarants in Maderno - the hotel staff will help you. Failing that, use trip advisor as we did to find places to eat.

We had the best break and only wish we could spend more time there.

We will definatly be returning to Lake Garda and my only reason for not staying here again is simply because we never visit the same place twice lol!

I highly reccomend staying at Hotel Milano!

Have a fab holiday! :-)

Room Tip: Upgrade your room! You wont be disappointed!

We stayed at the Milano from 15th - 22nd Sept, in a room over looking the lake at the side of the hotel which had a balcony. We were very pleased with the room. It wasn't big but it was modern clean and had a very nice spotless shower room.
The staff were very friendly and Dionluige (sorry about the spelling) was very helpful to us when we asked for advice about a trip to Milan to watch the football.
We were staying on a half board basis and both the breakfast buffet and the evening meal were of a good standard.
The hotel is in a beautiful location, but the resort is very small with only a handful of restaurants which we didn't mind but it wouldn't be to taste.
We used the ferries a couple of times to get around the lake and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
If you want a relaxing scenic hotel we would be happy to recommend the Milano either for a base for a couple of days as quite a few of the guests did or as we did to have a few days sight seeing and a couple relaxing by the pool.

Room Tip: Any room with a balcony to the front or side. We stayed in 208

Booked this hotel independently, 2 rooms - one with a lake view and balcony. To be honest we spent our time either at the pool or by the lake so didn't actually use the balcony other than a quick photo, it was however slightly more deluxe than the other room and if we'd been there more than 2 days we probably would have used it.
The hotel is very stylish, I'm sure it looks the same as it did on the ground floor if you'd walked in in the 1920s. Loved the art deco furniture and lovely lighting and bronze statues, felt very grand!
Pool area lovely with loungers (if you can get one!) and chairs, towels provided for the pool. Bar service very good, we didn't eat there other than breakfast which was lovely - lots of choice. Staff very friendly and the rooms were cleaned by the time we got back from breakfast, the young man at the bar during the day only asked us our room numbers once and then remembered for all of our other orders - I like that they get to know their guests quickly.
As far as the resort goes 2 days there for us was enough, the hotel is right on the lake and there is an excellent snack bar and gelato across the road - handy for lunch, but most of the other restaurants were along the main road and there weren't the quiet streets to meander in in the evening as there had been in Bardolino early in our stay, we did find a lovely pizza restaurant up a little back street though and it was a bargain, they have a roof terrace so don't be put off if it looks empty downstairs. There is a car ferry across to the other side of the lake and tourist boats if you fancy, but if you walk up to the beach area which is massive it is packed and has sun loungers to hire and snack bars, there is a big campsite that end of the town - not for us this area.
So a couple of days, bit of old time luxury just lounging by the pool - go for it at the Hotel Milano. If you want longer I would go to the other side of the Lake Bardolino for example.

Room Tip: Consider a lake side room - these are all in the original part of the hotel, the ones on the corner...

We had a lovely view from our balcony, room was basic, very clean, extremely hot shower which was great, air conditioning on all night, didn;t need anything more. Cannot fault ANY of the staff there, they were all fantastic and got hugs and kisses when we left. Was not sure what to expect from the reviews on here, but the food was some of the best we have had half board in Italy in the last four years. Don;t be put off by them saying it is next to the Ferry Terminal as the ferry is very small and you hardly hear it and the last one is 8pm. There are bikes to hire nearby. The only thing was we had a terrible rep from Crystal/Thompson who didn't turn up or update the notice board. Worth going to the welcome meeting as you get ferry timetables etc. The views are fabulous. Only gripe we had really was there were towells by the pool for people to use but certain people took two each so not enough to go round. Hairdryer there and reasonably powerful

A fantastic resort amazing scenery and could not fault Chrystal Holidays. Room was very clean basic, but overlooked the rear of the kitchen with a very noisy heating or boiler system. An excellent choice of food though, even given the fact that I had hair in my meal for 4 nights running. The only thing I could say was my family dreaded eating in the dining room as the Head Waiter Luigi was opinionated, bossy and hovered constantly over diners as they ate. His staff seemed terrified of him. On Luigi's nights off the dining room was relaxed and ran very effectively by the waitresses.

Room Tip: Only 2 types of rooms standard and superior pay extra if you can for the superior as the have a view...

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Hotel Milano. We had a stunning view over the lake from our room, which was only a small supplement above any of the other rooms so well worth paying a little bit extra (£4 per night I think?) The gardens and pool are just lovely. Very clean and well kept. There was a group of Germans who hogged the sun loungers on a couple of occasions so I felt house rules should have been in place to enable fairness, lots of towels in place to claim a spot but nobody using them.

The Carlos Santana lookalike who entertained us one evening was very sweet and we danced by the pool under the stars. He is there every Wednesday at no extra charge.

The breakfast fare was really well set out and kept us going for most of the day. The evening meal was the only minor disappointment as we felt the chef tried too hard to cook English food not very well, rather than stick to Italian food which on the occasions he/she did it was amazing.

Loved the maitre de bless him, he was the main personality of the Hotel, and his staff couldn't do enough to help us.

The transfer from Verona airport was tedious and longer than the flight, but gave us the chance to suss out the other Hotels we were dropping off at en route, and it is safe to say that Hotel Milano was in the most fab situation of all. I would recommend anyone wanting a holiday with gorgeous scenery and lovely people to go and stay there, our photos are like postcards.

Room Tip: Choose numbers from third floor 305 to 308 ish. As they have fab views over the lake and sun in the...
