“Could have been better”
Reviewed 1 September 2012

Hotel booked by phone, but was not made aware that the restaurant and bar were closed. Stayed for three nights, breakfast on the first two days was just about OK but on the Sunday at 8.00am the staff could not cope with the coach party that was also there with the result that there was very little if any food available. Did not have breakfast that morning. I find it hard to believe that the hotel was renovated two years ago as the room was looking tired. Good points were the free wi-fi and the shower.

This was the worst hotel I have ever been to. Rooms very tired and stuffy. Staff very rude and unhelpful. Long way from anywhere. Restaurant closed for lunch and dinner. Told you could get food twelve minutes walk away only to find BURGER BAR. Would avoid at all costs. Went for weekend coach trip and was all spoilt because of this.

I would note that the hotel has been completely renovated just two years ago. Different pictures clearly show the excellent quality of the rooms for a 3 star hotel.
Regarding the restaurant, it was announced on our website and booking site that the restaurant is closed every August for lunch and dinner.
On the location, the client knows that reserve a hotel not in the center of Brussels. To reach the "grand place" of Brussels, 15 minutes with the metro just 150 meters from the hotel.
I would add that the travel agency with which the client has traveled, accomodate more than 1000 people per year since many years without problems.

The hotel is situated some twenty five km from the city centre of Brussels. It is very much designed for the business person as the rooms were very small and plain not a picture in sight! The rooms were clean but quite stuffy so had to sleep with the window open and enjoy the noise of the metro and early morning deliveries!
As we were part of a coach party, we enquired about dinner but was told that there was not enough tables to cater for all as apparently the restaurant was booked by an outside group so we were obliged to eat at a nearby truck stop.
I would say that this hotel is only suitable for an overnight stay and anyone contemplating staying there should definitely read up about it first. ..

Room Tip: I believe the rooms at the rear were much quieter

Stayed for 2 nights while visiting family. Good parking outside. The room was clean and comfortable, but no tea or coffee-making facilities. Bathroom was clean and modern and the shower was better than most. The bar area was fine and the bar staff friendly. Breakfast was disappointing in that we were not particularly early, but on both mornings the tables had not been cleaned properly from the previous guests, and the crockery and cutlery were not replenished and there was no-one around to ask for more, but the continental breakfast was more than adequate. All in all you get what you pay for - and this is not somewhere to spend a holiday as it is out in the middle of nowhere, but a good stopping-off place if you are on the way to somewhere. And the building itself is particularly ugly!

We stayed here for 2 nights last weekend and the hotel was OK for the price. It is definitely a budget hotel, so don't expect too much. It is well outside Brussels, but there is a Metro Station (Erasme) 300 metres from the hotel. Line 5 takes you into the city centre. There is a large hypermarket (Cora) about half a mile away from the hotel, as well as around 50 retail units there too. You can eat there too, there's a Macdonalds and a few other cafe type eateries there too. Google "Cora Anderlecht" for more info.

I stayed here last night on business and won't be rushing to stay again! Room was shabby: stained carpets, dirty toilet bowl and broken toilet seat.

Difficult to get a good nights sleep as the walls are so thin you can hear every word your neighbour says plus constant noise in corridors.

On the positive side, I ate dinner in the restaurant and the food quality and service was very good.

Overall very disappointed with this hotel and am sure you can find much better.

Two of us stayed at the Hotel Erasme for two nights B&B in Oct 2011 as part of a week long business/pleasure trip. Cost approx €140/ night (Thur) and then €86/night (Fri)

We were driving so the location was not as important , but it was not an ideal location if you want to visit Brussels city centre. As other reviews have mentioned the hotel is located amongst university and hospital buildings and student housing on a one-way stretch of road. It's a pretty bland area but seems safe and clean. The hotel has good parking with several parking bays at the front of the hotel and many more around the back with direct access to the reception area.

The traffic can be pretty horrendous especially during rush hour, made more stressful if you don't know where you are going – there seem to be lots of one way systems so even with good Sat Nav it is difficult driving in the city centre and then of course you need to find parking. The second night we elected to take a taxi into Brussels (approx €40 one-way for a 25min trip) as time was short and we wanted to visit the famous La Grand-Place and have dinner out. On the way there we were taken through an area of Brussels that looked and felt like we were somewhere in the middle-east rather that Brussels – quite strange. The taxi drivers we were polite and had a tendency to drive quite erratically with odd bursts of speed which necessitated gripping on tightly to whatever you could get hold of!

It is worth mentioning that one member of staff at the hotel suggested we use the Metro which is apparently quite close to hotel but as 'tourists' and not being very familiar with the Metro system it was not something we felt we wanted to try and figure out that night. Maybe if the hotel had provided some sort of guide to using it such as cost, location, the times it runs, etc. we may have be braver about trying it.

The hotel: This hotel seemed more like a travel lodge to me. The main public area – the only bit they really seem to feature on the website – is fairly modern, light and airy and has the reception area, bar and restaurant all in the same large room. As with most public buildings these days there was no smoking inside and we saw the smokers going outside to smoke under a covered seating area.

The guest rooms: our room was pretty basic, but clean, and with just about enough room to fit two adults and our luggage in. Two comfortable twin beds were pushed together – they seem to stay together which was unusual – and the bedding felt clean and fresh. There was a small fridge and tv but no coffee or tea making facilities. The room was quite dark but there was a large window which could be opened which was good as it got quite warm when we were there. Our room seemed to be directly above the reception area which meant we could hear a very faint hint of voices from below but nothing that was really loud. It was quiet and peaceful in general.

Bathroom: The en-suite bathroom looked and smelled clean and there were some essential toiletries provided and good towels. The shower was also good with nice water pressure and consistent hot water.

The free WiFi provided was excellent – very fast and easy log-on.

The staff: The staff were polite and helpful if asked. They never offered help even though we could see people struggling through the front doors with luggage, etc. right in front of the reception desk. I would not say they were friendly, but nor were they unfriendly.

The food: We had continental breakfast included in the price – the food was quite varied. It was self-service and included cereal, juices, boiled eggs, cheese, various cold cuts and fresh loaves of bread, jams, etc. Can't complain - it was certainly acceptable. We did not eat dinner at the hotel; as they do not open the restaurant until 7pm it means the night is cut short if you want to go out and do anything. It is ideal if you are staying in though.

Overall the Hotel was good for the price (in Belgium). Based on this budget, I recommend this hotel for a short stay, it is clean and functional. If your trip is based mainly on visiting Brussels city centre - this hotel may be just a bit too far out of town.

Did not upload photos of the hotel as the ones shown are accurate - there isn't much else to see of the hotel or the surrounding area.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first-floor facing the front - it had a big window which opened on to a flat roo...
