“Belgian Holiday 2014”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014

The hotel itself is situated conveniently less than 10 minutes walk from Brussels impressive Midi/Zuid railway station. Its located in not a nice part of the city, and while it was fine to walk to and from in daylight, I would recommend using a taxi after dark.
Our room was a family room, which was clean and spacious. It looked like it had had some refurbishment and was satisfactory for our needs purely as a base. The room had climate control which worked well. This was very handy as we had to close the windows at night because of a noisy fair situated opposite, that went on until the early hours every night - if you are a light sleeper beware! TV in the room very limited, with BBC World News the only English speaking channel. However, the free wifi was excellent with great connectivity.
Breakfast range was fine, with typical continental selections. We went down around 9am and it was always very busy, but never had to wait too long to find a table.
Reception staff very polite and obliging, helping us with tips on how to use the Metro and get to certain destinations.
Another plus for us was the games room. Free use of pool table, Xbox and Mac Computers for kids and adults alike! (credit card has to be left with reception as security for any damage). Really nicely decorated room as well.
All in all the hotel served its purpose for us for our break in Belgium. It is not a plush hotel, but if all you need is a comfortable base for bed and breakfast that is clean and tidy, and you are aware of any potential fairground noise, then I would recommend this.

Room Tip: Back of the hotel is probably quieter

The ads claim "Art Nouveau townhouses" and "rooms with individual character" but this hotel is simply kitsch. We had to stay twice; both rooms were dirty and one of them had no window at all. Breakfast is fine but the service is exceptionally slow. There is a street fair in front of the hotel and the noise does not end before 2 am. The only good thing is the proximity to the Gare du Midi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room which is not facing the front street AND has some WINDOW.

We stayed at this hotel from Friday through until Monday. We arrived 6 hours before normal check-in time and the receptionist was really helpful & found us a vacant room so we could begin our short stay early. The room was basic but adequate for our needs. The breakfast was filling and the facilities on-hand if required. The staff were kind enough to provide us with use of hot water and a jug so we could make tea in our room which was a godsend! Located near to the Midi station and a metro, shops & the huge Sunday market - this place is a great base for a busy Belgian tour.

Be careful when you read some of the reviews, quite what people expect for the price this hotel costs I have no idea. The staff were great, room nice and clean, great location, we could be in the middle of Brussels 15 mins. Close to the drop off point for the Brussels south shuttle bus at Gare du Midi (see if you can book this online, we paid over 60 euros return for one adult and one child which I thought was very expensive) What I would expect from a continental breakfast. Free Pool table, XBox games, WiFi. You could pick holes in any hotel etc if you wanted to. For the price.....excellent!

Room Tip: Not sure, we were on the 4th floor and it was fine.

Very pleasant stay in this clean and modern hotel. Service was helpful and nice. Room was spacious and worth a lot more than what we had paid for. Right next to Midi station making it very easy to get into Brussels Central. A little bit noisy with morning traffic but not a big deal.

We booked this hotel as was close to the station, what we got was excellent value for money, 10 minutes from the train station and 10 minutes away from the main tourist parts, the room was clean and spacious, bathroom clean and very spacious, breakfast 7-10 so you can lay in, only down side was the dodgey lift that sometimes took 10-15 minutes to come

Excellent location for a quick stopover in Brussels, minutes from the Midi station. Noisy at night due to the location on a busy street but it's a city so we expected the noise and it did not bother us. Staff at front desk was friendly and the room was clean. City center was walkable from hotel but quicker by train.
