Really nice proprietors. Classic old building in a quiet area. Was nice to stay with a real Brussels family. Good location close to tram lines. Rooms were clean. Adequate breakfast.
The place is just a little too worn out. In need of much TLC. We stayed in both room #1 and #2 over the course of a week and a half. Everything from the paint to the floors to the plumbing to the pillows to the dishes were tattered and old. Beyond what could be considered charming. Felt like you were staying at your great aunts house and not a B&B. Lots of leftover toiletries and food items from previous travelers that should have been thrown out months or years ago.
The day we arrived an odd smell was noticed coming from the first floor apartment. Kind of like a dirty pet store. It got worse the second day then was suddenly gone on the third. It returned later in our stay but not as bad. Something must have been cleaned. Perhaps the bird cage.
Overall we had an OK time here. Certainly not a terrible stay. For the price I guess it was about what you could expect. It could just be so much better with a little attention and maybe a couple grand in improvements. Unfortunately we probably will look for another place on our next visit.
