I booked a room in this hotel without reading any reviews and when I finally did read them, I was actually anxious about my trip. Some of them are quite disheartening: dodgy streets, noisy area, dirty rooms and one person even complained about bedbugs!

However when I got there I was pleasantly surprised. True, it is a small hotel, the corridors and staircase are quite narrow, but it was in no way dirty as some have described.
The staff were polite and friendly, quite laid back. There is an elevator that you can use if you want to avoid the stairs (mind you, it isn't big). I booked a single non-refundable bedroom for myself to stay the weekend. The room was neat, the bed comfortable enough without filth or parasite infestations. There is a flat screen tv with remote control, a wardrobe and a full length mirror (something I'm quite pleased with). The bathroom was small, quite modest. You have soap and body wash dispensers in the shower cabin and next to the sink and are provided with 3 towels which were changed daily. The taps have been used quite often so do not look the best but they are nevertheless functional and clean. If you are looking for a clean, comfy room with modest yet functional surroundings this does the job properly.

Some people complained about the street. There are a lot of Muslims living in this area so there are Turkish shops and kebab places - I don't mind that since I live in an area in London also heavily populated by Muslims and they are fine to get along with. Yes it might look a bit dodgy at night, but the main road is a minute away and the area is well connected with trams and metro that can take you to the center. You might have a few noise issues since the nearby church rings bells often and there is a nearby cafe that works until late but in general it is fine.

I would recommend this hotel to people who are travelling on a budget as this fills all the basic requirements: cleanliness, transport access and comfort.

The room is small, dilapidated walls, musty odor, high humidity in the bathroom, does not operate the ventilation system, a narrow spiral staircase. Low noise isolation from its neighbors through the wall. WiFi in the room for the money! The old bed sheets (all in spool). In the bathroom all fall off: tile, faucet, handle, curtain. The remote control to the TV is tied cable to the wall.

The hotel is not a clean hotel, the maids do not clean the bathrooms or change the sheets, they just come in and leave clean towels. They do not clean the bathroom floors or hoover the room. There was a power failure for about 3 mins and i had to go the the reception to tell them to come and switch the power in my room on
They only good thing about this hotel is that the staff are friendly.
Its a good location to central brussels by bus, tram or metro

This hotel is not as bad as other people have said.
Its a 15 minute walk into town - its clean and for 40 euros a night what more can you want.
The neighbourhood is safe - I was eating kebabs at 01.00 am.
The staff were not unfriendly - they speak good English and answer every question you ask them.
Would stay here again - if you want the Sheraton - go pay the price.

Room Tip: I was in the residence - very quiet.
