“nice, but not a 5 star hotel”
Reviewed 21 March 2013

Lovely hotel, nice staff, very good food. Although the hotel looks spacious from the pictures, the space is tight and not much to do, just relax and eat.
The hotel is located far from any point of entertainment so you have to take a taxi or a buss to the near city for shopping or having fun.
Very good hotel for people that want just to relax, take a sun bath, swim a little, eat and drink. If you look for something else, try another place.

Went for a 16 day vacation to Turkey and stayed for ten days at Galeri Resort hotel in Okurcalar.

We arrived with rental car and the hotel was easy to find and also to get a free parking lot inside the gates. The hotel is located directly at the sea and they also have their own beach with sunbeds.

The room we first got seemed rather worn and we could not understand how this was to be considered as fully renovated during 2011. A quick talk with the reception showed that the main building is the one that has been renovated and not the smaller complex on the side (at the pool). The next day we moved to the main building and that one was much fresher even though the construction workers had done a very poor job renovating the room. For instance: the fitting of the door to the bathroom wrong and you could clearly see that they had tried to get it right several times but then given up, the shower was leaking water on the floor due to mismatch when installing it, one of closets was difficult to open (wrongly installed as well), etc.
The room was equipped with one large with a king size bed + one small bed, TV, free minibar, balcony, etc.

The cleaning of our room was not what you would have expected from a five star hotel. If you were in the room when the cleaning personnel came, they just left and did not come back. Even if you explained to them that you would leave the room within five minutes they just walked away and no cleaning that day. Not very flexible… In general the room was cleaned rather properly, but often they forgot to give us toiletries and we had to go down to the reception to get shampoo and soap.

Since we had the ultra all-inclusive we could enjoy all food and drinks available without any extra cost. The breakfast, nice and tasty buffet, was really good which all family members appreciated. We also ate lunch there and sometimes in the pool/beach restaurant. During the evenings we had dinner either in the main restaurant or the a la carte restaurant. In general rather good food even if we sometimes saw food that hadn’t been really well prepared.
The waiters are a bit inexperienced and it can take a long time to get the drinks you've ordered. Fortunately there is a bar inside the main restaurant where you more quickly can get your beverages for your lunch/dinner.

There are three pools available; one larger, one for kids and one that is for the water slides. No supervision of the pools so parents – keep an eye on your children! Also a dutifully organized playground for children that is not very well maintained.
There is an animation team that tries to amuse the guests. Well, if I would give them an advice: try harder. Focus on the activities, not on flirting with the guests (especially blonde girls). Focus on activities that your guests enjoy, not what might be fun only for yourselves.
The beach is rather nice and there you have sunbeds and parasols as well as on the pier.

We managed to get a rather good deal for €65/day for two adults and two children including the ultra all-inclusive.

WiFi is available at the hotel but don’t count on it working in your room. The reception in the main building and the pool are the best areas if you need to stay connected with the rest of the world.

To summarize our stay at the Galeri Resort hotel: the five star concept seems a bit away. The hotel is not bad but there are quite a lot of improvement activities that easily could increase the hotel quality and also the experience for the guests.

Room Tip: If you like karaoke from 8 pm to 11 pm in the evening, try to get a room at the pool. Otherwise avoi...

Our overall opininion of the hotel is very good. The food was excellent, you could choose from a wide variety of different food, salads, barbecue and vegetables. The desserts were just delicious. Althougt the colours of the cakes were sometimes shocking, but the taste........
The waiters were ok, though not very friendly. The entertainment team did a very good job. But who wants to do step-aerobic in 37 degrees celsius? The room was a standard seeview room. Very clean. The extra bed was just a folding bed, some parts missing. Very uncomfortable even for an 11- year- old child. We should have asked for a better one.
At arrival we had some problems. Towels were missing and I wanted an extra blanket as I do not like sharing it. They promised to send it to our roiom, but nothing happened. So we had to be a bit more asserive. We got it at last.
On the 5th day of our stay the hotel suddenly got filled up with Russian guests.
So the guests were mainly Russians, many Skandinavians, Turkish and some Hungarians as we were.
The sea is clean, with pebbles (have a rubber shoe).
The only problem is that the swimming pool is small for so many people.
But I would go there again.

I wanted to leave a review from a U.S. Travelers perspective, since most of the travelers to this resort tend to be Russian, Ukraine, German or Polish.
This All-Inclusive Hotel Resort is listed as a 5 Star Hotel. From an American perspective, or even from most Western standards, this would not be a 5 Star Hotel. Not only must certain standards be met and adhered to, to be given the prestige of 5 Stars, there must be certain ammenties there as well. Saying that, I want to be very clear that I was QUITE IMPRESSED by this resort even for western standards.

Hotel and Ammenities:

Positive:

-Hotel is newer, clean, tastefully decorated
-It is well staffed, with modern ammenities such as mini-bar in each room, flat panel TV and safe, fully functionining Air Conditioning!
-It is well-maintained by any standards, but certainly even for western standards as well!
-The pool was clean and in good order
-The beach is close and accessible, only a short walk down to the beach
-Hotel pool and beach deck chairs are clean
Negative:

-The Electronic Card Key access systems for the hotel room door are tempermental. On almost every occasion, it didn't work the first time around
-You had to pay $2 per day to use the Safe that is already in the room anyways!
-No Parking Valet (didn't expect it in this part of the world), but just an observation proving my point this isn't truly a 5 Star Hotel

Hotel Staff:

Positve:

-Hotel Staff were always courteous, kind and helpful!
-Hotel Staff were always appropriate dressed for their duties
-Room Chamber maids were efficient, always cleaned the rooms early and were generally "out of sight" for the most part

Negative:

**CAREFUL NOTE** - Although you may walk up to any Hotel staff and begin conversing in English and you watch them nod their head in full understanding and even respond in some broken english, that doesn't mean they understood a word you said...hehehehe. Really! NEVER ASSUME they understood a word! I found that most of time, they just nodded their head because they were trained to do that.
-Another peculiar habit you'll find the staff doing....you'll call up front desk for something, and they will always say "it's on the way", when in fact they don't have clue when you'll have someone at your room. I found this quite annoying really! You've been forewarned! If you call up maintenance, or any other staff, be prepared for a long wait and several reminders to see that it gets done in a timely manner
-Lack of command of the English Language by Staff

Restaurant/Dining/Food Experience

Positive:

-For an all-inclusive resort, this place did a FANTASTIC job!! I am a professional critic in the Hospitality industry, as I've done many of these all-inclusive resorts and this one really went over the top to ensure a wonderful dining experience!
-Food was tasty, well presented and satisfying
-Some of the things that "all-inclusive" resorts are often plagued with are things such as shortages of utinsels, dishes or water glasses and water, especially in this region of the world. This was not a problem at this resort! There was always plenty of cold water and glasses to be found.
-Food was at the correct temperature
-There was NEVER a shortage of ANY dish they were serving. I never found there to be empty bowls or serving plates where they ran out of certain dishes.
-I saw a Restaurant Manager, a wonderful young woman I didn't get the name of, who was continuously walking the dining room area making sure things were in order and that food was replenished.
-Plenty of indoor and outdoor dining space
-There were (2) seperate "Ale Carte" Dining experiences you could make reservations for that broke up some of the monotany that can come with all-inclusive dining and they were FREE! One meal was a wonderful Turkish BBQ, on a very romantice patio above the pool area, while still another was a romantic roof top dining experience again completely free! ***I put one exception in here...this was the ONLY dining experience where you paid for the alcoholic beverages. Nowhere else in this resort did we pay for alcholic drinks, but for some strange reason we did at this roof top dining experience.

Negative:

-We would often sit down first thing in the morning and observe dirty linen on the tables outside. There is no excuse for this faux pas! Linen should always be clean, especially the first meal in the morning. You could tell they hadn't changed it since the night before, because there was always old drink or wine stains from the night before. I realize there is probably some practice in this part of the world to save our planet and change and wash the linen only when necessary, but this is one area you CAN'T scrimp out on!
-The food sometimes got a little mundane and boring, as I never really saw the menu change that much.
-There was definitely NOT enough meat on the menu for either lunch or dinner
-No Western Style breakfast here at this resort. No Bacon or sausage. Omelettes were very weak and pultry. You got eggs with cheese, tomato and Bell Pepper, that's it. No Ham, Olives, meat, or anything else for that matter.

Hope this helped...

I expected more from 5 star hotel but it was acceptable regarding to price in last minute.

Breakfast was same every day and there was no ham (just something looks like a ham).
Except breakfast food was excellent. From noon there is a snack served.
Dinners are excellent and various of food is offered.
Service during dinners was poor and we had to ask waiters for a drink every time except one day.
There is a american bar where cocktails are served. In this bar they don't use real juice but cocktails are free of charge so that it good.
They have just postmix beverage. Beer is very good (Efes pilsen).

The room was pretty cleaned every day but In the bathroom there was a mold which does not look good. Gym was dirty and air conditioning was not working at all.

To sum it up I can tell that we were satisfied with our holidays but hotel have to improve services to be at 5 stars level.

Room Tip: All rooms have a sea view. Chose a room on a left wing of main building or a room in building next t...

Traveled with a small group of friends a few weeks ago. Had a pleasant stay, nothing to really complain about. We were all accommodated to the direct sea view rooms and the highway view apartments, which were just out of renovation, so there were no batteries in the remote controls, the occasional light bulbs were missing etc, but as the rooms were so nice, we didn't really care.
The food was good, plenty of choice and strawberries for dessert. The territory is very small and might get awfully crowded in high season, but is otherwise nice and clean.
Depending on the price and purpose of travel (as the location is in the middle of nowhere), I might very well go back again.

Room Tip: Unless it is direct sea view, the rooms have rather strange views (on the highway or to the windows...

When you arrive to any hotel, everybody knows first impression strikes the most. Well, not for Galleri personnel, apparently. We arrived at hotel around 12, so the rooms were not ready (we booked 2 double- rooms), butttttt instead we were taken to a mini-apartment with 2 rooms (so, one bathroom, at the last floor). We found ourselves puzzled by the situation since this was not what we reserved, or paid for - and the explanation was that is full season and all rooms are taken !!!
After the welcoming lady or manager I don't know exactly her function (the receptionists CANNOT talk in English!) took us to the room, we spent 10 minutes to decide what to do. We went again to the reception with all the papers (I am so glad I took everything with me, starting with reservation, description of offer, invoice) pointing out that we payed a completely other thing.
Then, suddenly outburst of apologies and that they will compensate with some basket of fruits and wine!! (I forgot to mention it was All Inclusive so a basket of fruits really made the difference). So basically, if we were not saying anything we were pranked to take whatever they gave us.I said, no thanx I will pass the fruits please give us the rooms we paid for.
The behaviour changed and the lady said that we have to go and take the luggage and wait until 14 because the rooms are not yet cleaned. Is it necessary to add that during our waiting other n+1 people checked in double rooms like us?! Personally, I find this kind of behaviour not professional. In the end we got the rooms.
The biggest disadvantage of this hotel is the fact that is situated in the middle of Nowhere, it.s near the highway; to the neareast city Alara for which you have to take the bus and it's absolutely nothing to do in the evenings in the surroundings.(there are only other hotels). This is only my fault because I read the offer which stated Alanya, not Incekum and not checked by myself the details.

The food is ok, but very monotonous. If you are a salad person it's perfect because there are plenty where you can choose from. Meat dishes - not really the strong point. The drinks, are a bit poor and only brands you havent heard of. We took only bier (Efes) or water.

The personnel: pleasant and willing to help, but lack of English is frustrating when you have 5 BIG STARS at the entrance and it's not OK.They speak Russian and German.

The pool: the size it's OK, but it's a race to catch a seat and an umbrella; everybody woke u really early and throw a towel on one or two seats and then I think back to sleep or to eat. If you went at 9 am at the pool, there was no one but all the seats were occupied by the towels.
The beach: with stones you have to wear some shoes or slippers and the depth of the water doesnt increase step by step, there is only deep water - so only if you're a good swimmer you can try it.

The entertaining team: It's disastrous indeed (i think they could do better without - not funny, pooor, poor jokes and bad). And of course the program is repetitive everyday, not even one song changed. One event was more prepared, which takes place once/week - Turkish Night - the food were indeed very good and many choices.

The Garden it's in-existent, you can say the Alley where you walk from the pool to the hotel.
Internet only in Lobby, and 1st floor.

This was definitely a one-time thing.
