We recently attended a friends wedding at The Estuary Hotel and Spa. As the accommodation is rated as "three star", we didn't have huge expectations but we were pleasantly surprised. The location and surroundings are beautiful as is the hotel itself. Our rooms were very comfortable as was our experience at the spa and the breakfasts at the hotel. The food was "homely". Breakfast on the Friday morning differed hugely to the breakfast over the weekends with the former being far tastier with more variety than that offered over the weekend, possibly this was due to the large number of guests staying for the wedding but we did feel that breakfasts should be consistently good no matter how many guests are staying. A beautiful, special spot - we will definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea facing room - although I think that they all may be sea facing....not sure

We had such a lovely stay at the Estuary, we had actually booked in elswhere, but when we got there were not happy with the room - booked out straight away. What a difference for the same price. Warm friendly staff welcomed us on arrival. We were offered juice while we booked in. Our room had a lovely view overlooking the estuary as well as lovely sea views. The restaraunt is run by very efficient staff and serves food of a very high standard with a very good whine list. Then to top it all.. for us ladies - they have an on site spa to unwind and be pampered in. All round a very pleasant stay! Can't wait to go back again

We did not stay at this lovely hotel but went there to look around as day visitors and then went back the same evening for dinner at "Fish Eagle Restaurant". The architecture is beautiful - Cape Dutch style - apparently built as a private home in 1941 (a 10 bedroom beach cottage) and later converted into a Hotel - a really grand looking hotel. We spoilt ourselves to a very tasty meal of Lamb Shank served with mash and vegetables. My husband had a side salad instead of the mash, the meal was delicious. My photos of the meal did not do it justice as the night time pictures never come out right. The staff were great and we tipped the 2 chefs involved in the cooking - they came out to thank us personally. The young manageress was delightful and very thoughtful - nothing was too much trouble for her. We had a long chat to her (they were not very busy on that evening). During the day, the view from the restaurant is lovely - one can see the estuary and the sea in the distance. At night, the lights from the chandeliers reflected in the large glass windows. Overall the place and the food was very impressive. We will go there again!

The hotel is set in a beautiful location overlooking an estuary and a short walk to a beautiful beach. it is also surrounded by lovely flora and fauna. The room was spacious, clean and basic. There are so many nicely thought about activities on site. we found a games room with pool tables, darts , table tennis etc all for free. The location of the hotel is very close to Wild Coast Sun.

Breakfast was delicious. Staff were all very friendly. The only problem that i found was that most of the tv channels were not functional and it seemed to be a satellite problem.

I would definitely return as this hotel is all about location, location, location...

We enjoyed our Valentines dinner at the Fish Eagle. The fact that we could have drinks and not worry about driving home was relaxing and the music was spectacular. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Valentines package was value for money. I will recommend the Estuary to anyone that wants a quiet getaway from the busy city life.

Just back from scouting a new venue for one of our festivals and had a light meal at The Estuary Hotel - what a delight it was! We had a gorgeous Smoked Salmon and Avo salad for lunch, fresh crisp greens, ripe avocado, scrum dressing - most delicious! I took the opportunity to have a look around and was surprised at the beautiful spa (fresh smells of lemon verbena), stunning little chapel and great conference facilities. The setting has to be one of the nicest on the KZN South Coast and the hospitality of both staff and owners was most welcoming. I highly recommend this venue and look forward to trying out more of what the new chef has to offer on their evening dining menu.
