“Very helpful staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for 2 nights after having the place recommended to us by some travelers we had met in another town.
The rooms are nice simple rooms with bathroom and small balcony. Breakfast is nice and there is coffee always provided all day if you wish.
The staff really make this place and can answer all of your questions about the area, tours and anything else you need to know.
A well priced hotel with great customer care.

This place was charming. For the price, I was impressed by the private bathroom and delicious breakfast. I liked the location because it was slightly further from town, but you can still walk there from the bus stop (15 minutes or so). It is also nice that parking is available in case you drive. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the wifi was decently fast. Unfortunately, the shower was not very warm, and sound traveled easily from outside and between rooms. But overall, if you want to save a few bucks then this is the place to stay.

The personnel makes the place, otherwise i'd have rated it 3 stars. Price goes accordingly.
Spacious room, hot shower and clean. But simple. The basic stuff. Simple breakfast served with a smile even before the opening hour because we had to get to an attraction early.
Again, thumbs up for the personnel. You can count on them.
One little problem for some (like my wife): the forest is just behind (we could only see the forest from the back window) but it comes with the noises. Monkeys are friendly - they say - but they are noisy during the night.

Room Tip: We could only see the forest from the back window. Marvelous! But it comes with the noises of the f...

We did the drive to the lodge after dark, and in some cases, didn't realize the sheer drop offs on the edge of the non- guard railed road. We had 4 wheel drive, but didn't use it for this stretch, however, it is unpaved for a bit of the way, but no huge rocks. I am glad we got the GPS with the rental car, I feel it was necessary. The lodge is run by two bothers, who are friendly, and very helpful. The rooms are rustic and clean, no frills. The breakfast was delicious, "typico". The woman who made the meals arrived earlier for breakfast- which is included- because we had an early tour at Monteverde. She also made me coffee earlier than usual, because I need it. The brothers booked several tours for us, and arranged everything. This is located fairly close to everything, or it is just a short drive away.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room, no outside porch. Our first room had an outside porch , we moved due to noi...

My wife and I had a great experience with Edgar and Christian. They are brothers who own this place. Gave us great advice on free tours and discounts. Also had a great free breakfast.. If you can get a room in the back they are all glass and look out into the trees. Monkeys and other wildlife will knock on windows in the mourning. Make sure to go to Supermarket next store and get fruits for animals. No pool but I could not unselect on this form so had to give 5 stars.
Thanks

This was not the best kept hotel we stayed at on our trip, but it was cute and had character. The family that runs the front was very nice and very helpful for answering questions and booking tours. The little patio off our room was amazing and backed right up into the trees, and although we did not see any monkeys (as I was hoping) it was a beautiful view. We had a large room for only 2 people, (much more space than we needed), but it would be cute for a family with children as there was bunk beds and a futon in one room and a large king bed in the other. Each room had its own door that opened to the shared bathroom. We were a little outside of town, but close enough to walk to the town of Santa Elena, which had a lot of shopping and cute little restaurants (although a steep hill to climb back up). We were also close enough to visit the Monteverde cloud forest as well, which is were we spent most of one day. We enjoyed our stay and getting a feel for (a little more) authentic Costa Rica town, although still touristic. I would recommend staying here if you just need somewhere simple and relatively inexpensive for a night or two. :)

Room Tip: Small place, don't think there is too much of a difference in rooms.
