It was great. Full equiped house. Very nice area. They work a lot. You can explore the whole area by a 1km path trough their ground. You can see banana, coffee, sugar and forest on your way. Out of the loud and crowded Santa Elena. Nice pool. They really should get a lot more bookings. Absolutely a pearl in this area !!

This hotel (among others) has been recommended to us by a local concierge service. Considering our budget, we decided to stay at the La Pradera for USD65 per night incl. all taxes and breakfast for three nights.
After the check in, we went to the room to not only find very cozy beds lovely decorated, but direct and clear view at the volcano Arenal from our bed through the big picture window!
We brewed a nice cup of delicious Costa Rican coffee, which is part of the amenities, and made ourselves comfortable in the rocking chairs in front of the villa enjoying the amazing view!
Now, imagine waking up looking though some lush greenery at that beautiful volcano! You could see the top usually before 6am as well as in the afternoons.
The room features a big fridge, safety box, a desk and separate bathroom with a shower. Margarita kept the place very clean. Now and then you might see some ants if you keep food on the table, but don't forget you are in the rain forrest and should expect way more than that, like geckos, lizards, hummingbirds, butterflies... which can be spotted in plenties in the surrounding gardens.
There are both a hot and a cold pool, where you can relax and enjoy your drink (Cocktail ar. $6).
The receptionist helped us to book some tours, and you can also find a computer with internet access at the Reception.
In the morning, you have the choice between 3 different kind of breakfast, which were filling enough to start your day.
Upon checkout, there was a problem with their credit card machine, hence, you might want to have some cash on you.
This hotel is the perfect base to start your trips around Arenal, it's very clean, safe and comfortable.
If you need your laundry done, there is a place about 150m down the street (4kg around $3), as well as a supermarket.
The hotel is not located in the town center of La Fortuna, hence, it's the right spot if you are looking for a quiet and natural place.
Loved it and highly recommend it!

I spent 2 nights at La Pradera in January 2013 as part of a 7 day trip to Costa Rica. This was by far the best value accommodation that I experienced. The cottage was spacious, very comfortable, clean and had a fabulous view of the countryside. The staff were courteaous and helpful too. Highly recommend La Pradera.

the family was so helpful in making plans for our time in Santa Elena. The property was beautiful. The cabins are simple, clean and comfortable. Helps to have a car but its walkable if needed. All the tours pick you up at the hotel. We enjoyed the kitchen and walking the grounds.

My family stayed 9 nights here recently. We wanted something moderately priced and away from the hustle and bustle of Santa Elena and Monteverde. This is the perfect place which offers kitchen facilities and spacious bedrooms to accompany large families such as ours. The owners and hosts, Jenny and Raphael are very friendly and helpful with calling taxis when we needed transportation. And their son Anthony was very helpful with travel arrangements both before and after our stay with them.

We have stayed in Cabanas La Pradera twice in the past two years for a total of three weeks. It is a very quiet place away from town that is perfect for nature lovers and people who like to prepare their own meals. Jenny and Raphael and their children, Melissa and Anthony, are wonderful hosts who make us feel like family.

Since we didn't have a car, we either walked into town (20-30 minutes) to do our shopping or took a taxi. There is a small store near the entrance to the resort that offers the basics.

La Pradera is a wonderful base from which to visit many nature reserves.
