We have just returned from a weeks stay at Bizimtepe. On arrival in the early hours of the morning the room was very dissapointing! I asked to be moved and the manager said they where full. As stated before the rooms are VERY basic! We had one of the back rooms with no view and only a white washed wall to look at. In the morning the whole place seemed different, the pool was great and clean, the family that run this place make you feel like you are at home with them. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. We got moved 3 days later to one of the front rooms which was identical but had a better view. The beds are ok and the showers have minds of their own. The towels vary in shades of white but are always clean. To be honest we didn't spend any time in the room only to wash and sleep as their terrace where you have breakfast is a great place just to sit at night and chill, they will give you the wifi code and let you use it for free, great for the kids. You may get woken up during the early hours by 'Prayer Call', it doesn't last long and you soon get back to sleep. There are a lot of steps up to the differnt levels of the hotel and be careful as they are wet most of the time due to the pipes from the air conditioning units pumping out the water, I did slip and bruised my arm.
You will be charged £30.00 for the air conditioning for the week, but this only works when you are in the room and the key is in the slot that enables the electric to come on. Safe deposit boxes are £15.00 per week - we didn't bother as it felt very safe there. The breakfst is Turkish - bread, olives, ham, hard boiled eggs, cheese, jam and butter with salad, served from 8-10 but it is usually about 10.15 they stop. We ate a lot of our meals here and they where very nice and tasty. They let you run up a tab for food and drink.
The beach is basically just over the road down 1 of 3 roads. The beach is very crowded with sun loungers right up to the waters edge. It is shingle not sand with pebbles, so take your beach shoes. You can use the loungers if you buy a drink or lunch from the restaurant they are in front of. The sea is quite shallow and shelves slowly.
There is small shop underneath the hotel and a supermarket 5 mins walk down the road. It is quiet at night with nothing around but you can get the bus into Turgerites for 3.5 lira each way and here you have got all the tourist shops and restaurants you can want! - takes about 15 mins. We went turkish baths in Gumbert and did a boat trip also from Gumbert - we enjoyed both of these trips. You can also get the bus into Bodrum for 5.5 lira each way and its so easy to find your way around, just be careful where you eat in Bodrum as the Harbour is very expensive for the fresh fish as we found out!!
All in all you take this little hotel to your heart and feel like you have had a break with some long lost turkish family you didnt know you had! - would we go back? yes we would as long as the same people are running the place.
