Kefaluka resort is a gorgeous place.. the staff are wonderful.. the food is plenty and very good.. the place is very clean..
though we have to admit the air conditioning is extremely weak..
the set back is that it is far away from Bodrum and the shuttle service that operates out of the hotel is not professional..

Room Tip: definitely a sea side room.. the views are beyond amazing..

We were in Kefaluka on july,7. We stayed there for 10 days. There was me, my mum and father and brother. Firstly, i want to say that there was too much wind. The time was not important ,it was windy always. But i can not complete about it at all because if you do not like hot weather, you should go. The rooms were nice, big. The beds were comfortable too. And they were clean which was very important. But at night you can not sleep, the room was so hot! The air conditioning was not working so we can not sleep at night. The food was nice and delicious there was so much kind of food. But you have to go a bit early to eat out. The service was not good not so quick , the tables were not clean so you have to wait until it got cleaned which took some time. The pools were big but we spent much more time on the beach. The sea was clean and fine but there was wave always. The wharf was peaceful and good to read book and listen music while getting rest. The animation team was enjoyable and so active all the time.At night you will not get bored. I was dissapointed at the first days but it changed. I have to mention that you have to walk to reach the sea. It was far from the hotel. İf you care about the sea i can not recommmend you this hotel because of the wave. On the beach there was place to stay but we prefer to be in wharf. I do not recommend this hotel for the ones who love sea. But we had good time.

We stayed at the Kefaluka Resort for 10 days in early July with our kids aged 2 & 4 and had a really fantastic holiday!

The hotel itself is beautiful, all the areas throughout the hotel are immaculate with staff cleaning all the time and the views are amazing!

Rooms - the rooms are lovely, we had a family room with a sea view and small balcony, a big double bed (quite hard though) and a large sofa bed for our kids. There was a lack of storage for a family of 4, take extra hangers as the wardrobe space is small! Free mini bar in the room which was stocked up daily with 2 Efes, 2 Coca Cola, 2 Fizzy Orange and 2 Water. Some days the rooms could have been cleaned more thoroughly.

Pools - The pool area and gardens are also immaculate and have plenty of space, there are staff pottering around all day tidying and preening. The pools are great and very clean, there are also 2 kids pools that our children loved, water slides and a play area. There were plenty of sun beds and umbrellas, watch out for the poolside umbrellas as my husband banged his head on them every day! There are also plenty of beach towels.

The pool bar is nice, sometimes a short wait to be served, the 2 pool waiters work really hard, especially Sercan who would bring us drinks all day!

If you are feeling peckish in the afternoon, there are jacket potato, waffle and ice cream stands around the pool area. Also at about 5pm there are a selection of biscuits and cakes!

Beach – the beach is ok, the jetty is nice, the kids loved feeding the fish with bread at the end of the pier!

Food – we were very impressed with the food for an all inclusive resort, it was very good and fresh, the main restaurant is a buffet with a wide range for all tastes that they try to vary. There is fish night, Turkish night etc. We always managed to find something for the kids - pasta, chicken and fish goujons, chips, chicken and rice. If you want to avoid the busy time at the dinner buffet go down just after 7pm as it gets pretty mad around 8pm. Some of the waiter service was hit and miss but on the whole it was good but there were a couple who were moody and unhelpful!

Breakfast is great, big selection of breads and jams and lovely pastries, eggs, fruit etc. Our favourite for lunch was the Italian restaurant, also the snack bar near the pool is good for the kids. We had dinner at the Italian a la carte restaurant for 10 Euros each which was nice and much quieter than the buffet!

The lobby bar is great with amazing views over the whole bay area, sometimes had to wait a short while for our drinks.

Entertainment – There are poolside activities a few times throughout the day, with the entertainment team keen to get everyone involved but are not pushy if you do not fancy it. Ismail whom the kids love, stood out for us, he and his team are very friendly and polite to the guests and do a great job! Their shows in the amphitheatre are good fun and there is a kids disco every night.

I would recommend using the spa during your stay, I had a massage and facial which was lovely.

We would go back to the Kefaluka Resort tomorrow, an opinion which was echoed by several of the guests we spoke to during our stay. There could be some improvements with the service in areas and the reception staff could be friendlier but we can honestly say we had a brilliant holiday, the hotel was excellent and is extremely good value for money!

Thank you for a lovely holiday, we already want to book for next summer!

We arrived at Kefaluka around 11:00 and were immediately sent to have late breakfast in the main restaurant. After breakfast we were given a room without a delay. Reception staff was friendly and provided full information about the hotel and its facilities.

I agree with some previous reviews below regarding poor service. Details are discussed below.

We stayed at different hotels in Turkey and Kefaluka is our 11th hotel so far. Let me briefly state advantages and disadvanatges of this hotel:

Advantages: location, food, rooms, large territory, perfect service in the Lobby Lounge, helphul Reception and Guest Relation staff.

Disadvantages: poor service in the main restaurant, rooms, pool area, pool bar and Zuzu Snack Restaurant.

Now let us go through the details:

Room was quite modern and large enough for a standard category. However, the room was not clean enough. There were too many dark hairs, on the beds and especially on bathroom's floor. Quite unpleasant impression. I would recommend that cleaning staff would wear special caps in order to prevent such ugly things as hairs on the bedsheet.

Cleaners are unfriendly, they even do not greet you. We tipped them regularly, but still they even did not thank us for that. Cleaning ladies just demonstarted very bad mannared behavior with no smile.

Guest relation staff really knows what their job is. They were available at any time and were willing to help you in any matters.

Food in the main retsuarant is fine. Variety of different meals and fruits is presented. However, offerings were repitative. There were only two thematic dinners during our 11 days stay.

Service in the main restaurant is below average and does not match with the service in other 5 star Turkish hotels (e.g. Korumar). Waiters were lazy and slow, especially during breakfasts. They did not approach guests for more than 30 minutes even if they have seen that we have arrived and took our seats. Many other guests complained about this unacceptable behavior. Sometimes waiters "forgot" to offer fresh made orange juice to us. There were several instances when waiters took away our filled caps while we were walking around and collecting some meals. If they at last bring a coffee to you they will totally forget about you for the rest of the breakfast. You will not get a second cup of coffee or tea. Maybe they are trying to save their resources.

The only hardworking waiter there is a girl. She may offer a second cup of coffee without calling her.

Pool area is very large and you will not face problems with finding a free sun bed during any time of the day. However, service in the pool area is also very poor. There is a waiter from pool bar who is walking around the pool area and taking orders. He does it on a selective basis: he may take an order from a guest who lies next to you while totally ignoring you. We were very dissapointed by such rude and impolite treatment. The waiter may pass near you several times without making an offer to drink something. At the same time he approaches other guests several times. I believe that all guests should be treated equally with no preferences and dislikes.

Beach area is also very large and pleasant. Service there is a bit better than in the pool area. However, sea was quite cold and we went to the beach just in the afternoons.

Zuzu Snack Restaurant offers some snacks and drinks during the day. Again, service in Zuzu is as bad as in the pool area. It may take ages waiting when a waiter approaches you. We spend there half an hour observing many waiters serving other and totally ignoring us. Terrible treatment! Be ready to spend there an hour to have a cup of tea. I found a small research output there: it does not matter if you tip the staff or not. They still will provide poor service. Also, if you greet them in their language, if you smile and show them your positive and friendly attitude, still you will receive a tired and displeased face and poor service in turn. The most of the staff was looking as wild people who does not know what is 5 star service is.

Lobby Lounge however, was perfect. Girls who work there are very polite and friendly. Their service was very fast. Once you seat down you are served immediately. Girls really working hard and noone is left without attention. Barman in the Lobby Lounge is also very friendly and is always willing to serve you.

Animation team is on average. Two ladies who work with children are very polite and friendly. Especailly a young lady who was wearing a Snow White (or something)dress. She was always greeting everyone and smiling. She really enjoyes her job.

Other animation team members were making attepts to entertain guests but they always demonstrated a tired mood. The level of their English is quite poor. There was a yound lady whose English is below average. She was walking around with her friend and offering guests to joing their water polo play.

If you say "No, thank you, may be next time" she demonstrated very unpleasant face. So if you refuse to play with them (even in a more than polite way) you will automatically become their enemy. Also, this lady was promising everyone to improve her English skills next year.

One more unpleasant impression: when we tipped the bellboy (he worked on a day shift on June 19, 2012), he just threw away money to the table at Reception area. Very rude and bad-mannared behavior. May be Kefaluka Resort's rules are against staff rewards? :D

In summary, I do not recommend this hotel. Only if you are indifferent with the service and wish just to relax you may stay there. But if they do declare their hotel as a 5* resort they must offer respective service. Cleaning staff, waiters, barmen, bellboys and some members of entartainment team must pass some trainings on service. As a person who has an experience in service sector I was very dissapointed with such type of unacceptable treatment. Would I select Kefaluka Resort as a place for my stay again? No!

PS. We left our complaints on Kefaluka Website's Guest Book. But they do not post negative reviews. They will post only positive ones. That means that management is aware of poor performance of their staff, however they do not want to work on service improvement.

We booked through Thomas Cook in Horsham, having spent days wading through discount websites trying to save money...Thomas Cook pricematch anyway, which I didn't know..and it was an excellent idea and soooo much easier than booking online...There were three of us, my partner, my 14 yr old son, and me, in one room, going for a week....

Anyway we went though Sovereign, and I was very impressed with the company.

Our private taxi was waiting at Bodrum airport, and after hearing horror stories from other hotel residents later about coach drivers on mobiles steering the very hot coaches with their knees, we were glad we had that service....
We had a room on the far left hand side of the hotel which had a lovely sea view, as most if not all of the rooms have, but we were far too close to the disco down below us outside, which pumped out House music until 2am each night, vibrating up through the pillows making it impossible to sleep...the third day we asked for a room as far over the other side as possible and it was much quieter....
One complaint was the service in the restaurant...there wasn't any...you get your own food but have to ask for drinks...if you asked for a drink we reckoned you had a 40% chance of getting it without asking a second time, the waiters weren't rude, just distant and unattentive, or hopeless!!
We tried tipping one of the only waiters that smiled, he immediately brought out frosted wine glasses, and promised us a reserved table the next night...which didn't happen as he blanked us the following evening anyway......

We went to the onsite Italian restaurant for 10 euros each, and shouldn't have bothered...the service was absolutely appalling, our drinks arriving after being asked for three times, and when we had finished our starter...the food was awful, my 14yr old, who's an expert on pizzas, couldn't eat his as it tasted so bad.
To cap it all at the end of the meal the rough looking Maitre D' stood over us with a form for us to fill in to say how good the service and food was...he was very itimidating, so being British we gave everything full marks, even though the evening was the worst we had in Turkey!!!

The only other problem was the airconditioning.....it was rubbish..Every night it was so hot that whatever was in the pillows made our heads sweat ( yuk ), so eventually I wrapped a towel around the pillow and I had a reasonable nights sleep...but the room was bloody hot at night!!!

The amenities and facilities were excellent, no other moans at all, even the entertainent, which usually makes me cringe, was good.

Would we go back?, if they sort out the aircon, then yes, probably, but no if not...

But all in all we had a good time!!!

Room Tip: Get a room on the right hand side of the hotel as you walk in...if not the disco will get you!!!
