“Not too bad...”
Reviewed 8 August 2014 via mobile

I have just returned home after a 2wk holiday at bendis beach hotel.
Having been to 5 star hotels in Antalya for the past 3yrs I was a little apprehensive about going here after reading trip advisor reviews but it isn't as bad as some of them say. Maybe they've changed management.
Anyway here here goes.
The rooms are adequate and are cleaned every day. The air con worked well but was a little noisy when trying to sleep. The mini bar wasn't really a bar (no alcohol or soft drink) but we got 2 bottles of water every day. Our room overlooked the entertainment area and although it was noisy it finished at about10.30-11pm. The bathroom was clean with towels changed daily. There is a TV with a few English channels and there is plenty of storage space for 2 people. The balcony was very small but ok for drying towels, /clothes. You could fit 1 chair on it but nothing else.
The entertainment at night was poor and we never went to it although we could hear it. The staff tried hard but they could do to get some acts in.
There was a coffee machine outside and soft drinks were available in the restaurant and at the bar. There was only 1 bar working and the staff were quick. The bar at reception was never open.you can get beer, shorts, soft drinks and coffee. The food in the restaurant is good with salad, soup, various meats and pasta and cakes/sweets. You can get burgers or bolognese in the afternoon and biscuits + coffee.
The beach is a couple of minutes walk away with plenty of sun beds and there is a bar serving soft drinks. There are water sports available.
The sunbeds are an issue around the pool. They could do too make more space for them, perhaps move some tables which no one was using near the bar. You need to get up early to get one around the pool.
The location of the hotel isn't good if you like shopping. You have to get a bus/taxi into town. There are a couple of shops nearby and they are quite cheap.
The photographer on site is good and there are various trips available to kos and surrounding areas. We did a 6 hour boat trip for £15 pp inc food + coffee/tea but we were charged extra for cans of coke. £1.50 for a small can!
This hotel is a 3star not a 4, but it's clean and the food is good if repetitive.
We enjoyed our holiday but it could have been better.
We booked this hotel as a late deal (3 wks before departure) the transfer to the airport on the way home should have taken 1 hour but the driver got lost and it took 2 and half hours.

Stayed for two weeks in July 2014. Clean rooms, good food, decent animations and friendly staff (with one exception of unhappy barman). Not the best location but for me it almost deserves five stars. The beach is good compared to Bodrum standard. I would recommend this hotel.

Reviewed 8 July 2014

Spent a week at the bendis beach hotel at the end of June with my friend. Very hard to review as we can't say it was awful but it wasn't great either.

Transfer - took over two hours and we only dropped off at 3 hotels. Journey was very stressful driver on the phone constantly and a few hairy moments with being too near some edges and nearly hitting other cars

Rooms- very basic but adequate, bathrooms nice and shower etc good. Not cleaned adequately at any point and bed sheets never changed. The white in the rooms was a bit overpowering but that's a personal thing. Balcony was more or less non existent only just enough room for two chairs. 2 bottles of water in mini bar not exactly luxury. Towels etc ok

Food - freshly made food, everything seemed clean too. Food not for everyone but I enjoyed the salads and cheeses etc. a little repetitive but that's kinda what all inclusive is like. Midnight soup disgusting and not enough for everyone.

Drinks - there seems to be a an issue with actually filling a glass up or giving more that one drink which I don't understand as you will simply just go back up anyway. Drinks seemed ok vodka lager etc were quite nice :-)

Pool- nightmare!!!! People reserve sunbeds all day and don't use them!! Sunbeds jammed together and parasols Are huge so if you want to sunbath and the person three beds down doesn't then your not sunbathing. Not enough sunbeds and badly arranged. Ended up having to get up to reserve a sunbeds which I really didn't want to do but no choice or your stuck at the beach. Entertainment round the pool not up to much. One day they had pool games that seemed fun but it only happened once. POOL TOILETS ARE DISGUSTING!!! There was blood Etc on one of the cubicle doors that was there all week!! There's never any loo roll and they generally smell.

Beach - looks like a piece of waste land that someone decided to stick some sun loungers on and it's very gritty and sore on your feet. I recommend swimming shoes if you want to go in the sea. There is a bar serving soft drinks but I never noticed if there were any loos so you'd have to walk back up to the hotel. Plus side to the beach is you can get a sunbed and decide for yourself if you want the shade or not also the breeze on the beach is good when it's particularly hot.

Entertainment - can't comment too much as I didn't go to the shows but They didn't sound like they were up to much.

Staff/service- no consistency with service. Some staff can't do enough for you and others are just ignorant. The waiters- some ignore you totally and leave you sitting with no cutlery for example and others swarm round you getting drinks and everything else you need. There needs to be more organisation of the waiters and the clearing up etc. bar staff - again no consistency some of the bar staff were ignorant and rude some were lovely and even made sure you had drinks brought over. Entertainment staff - started off very annoying but calmed down as the week went on, same with the boat trip guys, unfortunately it takes you being abrupt or ignorant for them to lay off with the hassle but once they do it's pleasant to speak to them. The spa guy - needs to leave people alone and remember when he has already spoken to you but again by the end of the week he was pleasant to talk to. If your a young single female then be wary. We are 35 and both married yet that didn't stop them trying to hit on us. Ladies - don't be naive they go round everyone trying their luck.

Little shop next to hotel gate is good for all your extras the owners are lovely and appreciate your custom.

All in all it wasn't an awful, holiday but it wasn't wonderful either. Wouldn't pick to go back unless it was a mega cheap deal. I think thomsons totally oversold it and I am still to see the hedonistic theme they spoke of.

Don't think it would take much to make it a good resort.

Stayed at the Bendis Beach for a week and that was enough, Hotel room clean on arrival plenty of room and a nice bathroom. Room wasn't cleaned adequately during the week and the bed never changed. Towels changed daily, as the week went by the towels we were left became more threadbare and like sandpaper! Room safes are not free and cost £17 per week, the minibar contains 2 bottles of water that are replaced daily. The aircon works but could be better. We stayed on the 1st floor up a spiral staircase with no rails and not lit at night. The restaurant was a very short stroll down the path, there are ramps for wheelchairs and pushchairs but these are steep and there are only 2, one at each end of the restaurant. Breakfast was pretty standard for Turkey,if you like to sit outside and are an early riser do not expect your table to be set as they didn't put anything on them until about 9am. Lunch was again quite good but the food in the dishes was not hot enough. Evening meals were a nightmare trying to find a seat was a mission!! The tables are set outside round by the pool and down to the bar, by the time you have picked your food and weaved through the tables to your seat your food is cold! Thankfully the weather was fantastic whilst we were there but we often wondered where they would sit everyone should it rain! The pool area during the day was very crowded, elbow to elbow with the next sunbed. We never saw the pool being tested or cleaned whilst we were there but this doesn't mean it isn't done, the ladders out of the pool were very loose, the pool area was not washed only brushed. The toilets in the pool area were never clean before 10am and no toilet roll or paper towels. The bar served drinks in plastic and glass, we saw many people with glasses around the pool. The service at the bar was very good and the barmen tried to keep the queue down and worked hard, shame the restaurant waiters didn't have the same attitude! The beach was ok, one young man was in charge of the mattresses the sun loungers and the beach bar, he was always on the go. The sand was very gritty and the getting into the sea very stony with a steep shelf, the water goes deep very quickly, personally I would say it is not safe for young children, when there is a breeze the current is strong in the sea, a young boy with armbands on a lilo was whipped away within seconds!! All in all we had a relaxing time with a few niggles along the way but not enough to spoil our holiday. The photographer was nice if a little pushy, the boat-trip guys were friendly, the turkish bath man was very sleazy and for the first time I was surprised at the animation selling trips, some became quite bolshy if you stopped them before they started with the hard sell. The shows were not good!!

Room Tip: Request ground floor if you are less mobile.

Have just returned from 10 days at the bendis beach. Don't normally do reviews but thought this hotel deserves one as it exceeded our expectations. Room was lovely, staff really friendly and helpful, food choice was really good. We found the pool sun loungers a little too close together for us so headed for the beach every day where the hotel has its own area with sun loungers and umbrellas serviced by a little beach bar where you could get soft drinks and comfy mattresses for the loungers. We wanted to say thanks to the staff who were really lovely including Owen (not sure if spelt right ) mario, toto, Figo the photographer and Lucy (sorry again if names spelt wrong) and the dynamic duo who organised the boat trips :-) hope to be back one day !, Len and sue , lancing
