“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Just come back from Turkey and stayed in the Alba Royal. The Hotel looks a bit dated in places, but was very clean. We had a superior sea view room that was on the 2nd floor, nice and clean with a good view. Food in the main restaurants was a bit repetitive, not bad, but not 5 star food. The food in the other restaurants was better. Bars are clean and tidy, staff work very hard at all times.Reception was a bit of a trial with language problems. The Spa was very good if not a bit pricey. The beach was great with lots of beds available and good cover from the sun.We enjoyed our holiday at the Alba Royal, but I don't see this hotel as 5 star.

We visited Alba Royal last year and have to say that the standard seems to have dropped overall. We arrived at 02.15 in the morning after a long journey to be given a twin room overlooking the garden area. We purposely booked and paid for a sea view room with double bed. On returning to reception we were allocated another room to find that this was undergoing renovation work and again it had twin beds. I was finally allocated a room at 03.15 to find that the room had not been cleaned from previous visitors. The room was cleaned eventually and we got to bed at about 05.30. This was after e mailing the hotel to ensure that our paid for booking was in hand. We received no reply to this e mail. I spoke to the holiday rep on the Tuesday and it wasn't sorted out until the day before we left.

Last year there was very good live entertainment which was very varied. This year it was non existent apart from a duo singing a couple of nights. There was a music quiz which was dire and that was about it. The entertainment team tried their best but rallying everybody with a bugle call at 10.00 every morning made it seem like a holiday camp. Several people likened it to the Butlins wake up call.

The food was very much the same every night. We booked a couple of evenings in the A La Carte restaurant but the service is quite rushed. Surprised to see cooked frozen vegetables ( diced carrots, sweetcorn and peas) served. We ate in the beach bar about 3.30 and then just had soup or cheese and biscuits.

I hate to be negative about this hotel as the staff work so very hard to make your holiday special but it seems to have suffered from lack of visitors and therefore maintenance doesn't appear to get done. I was also surprised to see several children in the hotel pool, bar area and restaurants. This hotel is sold as an Adults only hotel and children have to be over 16 but this wasn't the case. I was advised by the holiday rep that it is common this hotel to overbook the rooms. Would I go there again? I would love to as it is quiet and being on the sea front has it advantages but not unless it addresses issues such as entertainment of a good quality which was advertised in the brochure and which you pay for in the cost. I won't visit this particular hotel again but I will return to Turkey every year for my main holiday as it is such a wonderful friendly country.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before you accept it. Also Wifi is advertised as free but it is very very spora...

Stayed at Alba Royal for two weeks at the end of June, booked last year having read glowing reviews, however, reading the reviews just before we left I was a little apprehensive but I can honestly say I don't know which hotel these people were staying in but we could not fault it in any way. The food was amazing and with a choice of places to eat at lunchtime you did not have to do the self service in the main restaurant, instead we chose to eat either at the beach or pool bar where food was cooked fresh with waiter service. The a la carte restaurants were excellent with a good choice, again with excellent service. The staff were very attentive although at times a little difficult to engage in conversation as their second language is German, having been to others parts of Turkey, this would not be my favourite area of Turkey but the hotel has to be one of the best. Special thanks to the barmen Mehmet Emin and Muhammed, Kemal the a la carte and pool bar waiter and Mehmet in the main restaurant and not forgetting our lovely room maid Gurcan Kocademir who worked hard each day cleaning and tidying the room. All the staff work tirelessly to ensure you have a great holiday, we stayed in a superior room and was well worth the upgrade, room was on the side by the zoo, animal noise not too bad but the disco that went on well into the early hours was somewhat annoying at times, had to close the door at night to deaden the noise! That said would definitely return again to this hotel, perhaps find a quieter room!

We have just returned from a brilliant two week stay at Alba Royal.

This was our first time in Turkey and despite our apprehension, due to some negative traveller reviews, we were very impressed; the resort, hotel, staff and weather provided a perfect holiday.

We received a warm welcome to this spotlessly clean, well appointed hotel. Having paid for a superior sea view room, which was very spacious, we benefitted from the stunning views, fully stocked mini-bar and Jacuzzi bath. The food was plentiful and delicious and waiting staff were warm and friendly, in particular Cazim, Karim, Halil, Hoseyn and Suat. The Escape beach restaurant is a must for lunch.

We had no problems in finding sunbeds by the pool or on the beach, both areas were immaculately kept.

Guest relations, Petra, was extremely helpful with any queries and in booking our reservations at the Turkish and Cuban a' la carte restaurants, both of which exceeded expectations; the food and service was amazing.

We were not expecting a lot of entertainment, as this is an adult-only hotel, however the animation team worked very hard, day and night.

During an evening walk, we enjoyed walking along the esplanade, discovered the resort disco and the beach party. A Turkish bath, a trip into Side on the Dolmus bus, and an excursion on a Gulet along the Manavgat river and into the sea, rounded off our stay perfectly.

We met some lovely people during our stay look forward to returning to Alba Royal in the future.

Room Tip: Superior sea view rooms are spacious and well worth the extra charge.

Just got back, and can honestly say, it's fantastic, not one negative to report...
The staff, are brilliant, the food is superb. Some people might winge about the
food selection at breakfast, if you want fry ups every morning, go to Blackpool.
If you want Turkish hospitality and quality accommodation, come here.
The private beach, the pool area's, please, give it a go, we are ready to book for
next year........same hotel !!!!!

Room Tip: We paid the extra for a sea and pool views. Well worth it !!!

Well firstly turkey is a lovely place and before going we heard from friends and family that side was a nice place to visit. This hotel is more ideal for older people but is good for young couples who just want to relax at the beach/pool.

When we arrived it was about 10-11pm in turkish time and was greeted at reception by a man who was abit strange. The bell boy was a little moody and stated he only spoke German.. The main receptionist didn't really know any general information on the hotel such as when breakfast was which was really off putting.

All the staff especially the waiters were amazing,Yusef in reception was really helpful and actually came and fixed our balcony door which wasn't locking probably. He made sure we were all okay and made us feel more reassured as he seemed to be the only one apart from the waiters that spoke good English.

The entertainment staff were great.. but only if you spoke German which I can understand(being a German based hotel) the spa staff were abit pushy but totally worth having the foam bath, turkish bath and full body massage which was in a package for 49 euros each when we stayed.
This is an amazing hotel with a nice modern room and bathroom. There is a button in the room which you can decide whether to have the maids in or not.

On the last day we were getting picked up at 7pm and had to check out of our room by 12pm. We decided to do a late check out which was 40 euros which meant we could check out at 4 instead of 12 which was ideal. We had some confusion with that at first because the receptionist we first dealt with was really unhelpful as we explained we didn't have any turkish lira left. She NEVER stated we could pay on card and made the bell boy who ONLY spoke German explain to us that there was nothing they could do.

This made us feel abit worried being on our first holiday away... So I resulted in FaceTiming my mum who persuaded us to speak to the receptionist again. This time we spoke to a different lady who was very helpful and then said we COULD have a later check out by paying by card!!
Overalls nice place to stay but next time I think we would like to go to a hotel which didn't have so much of a language barrier between main receptionist was very difficult.

Visited for 11 nights at the end of June '14. We had a fantastic time - the food, drinks, staff, facilities, entertainment & activities were all excellent.

Food was varied, drinks were plentiful and there was never the feeling that they were trying to skimp on anything.

Staff in particular were very friendly and could not do enough for you.

Variety of the buffet was good, both hot and cold options and 1 visit to each of the three a la carte restaurants (no extra charge) meant we never got bored of the meals.

Activities included water polo with Miraç, air rifle, football, water gymnastics and a daily pool game which was always good fun!

There was something for everyone here with 2 indoor bars, 2 main restaurants, a pool bar, a beach bar, coffee shop (part of all inc.), games room etc.

Only non-positive experience we had was visiting the spa centre. On arrival you are given a 15min free massage/20% off voucher. We opted for a 1hour massage each at €135 all together but they still tried to sell us extra treatments after. We would have expected that if we had opted for the free massage but we were a little disappointed seeing as we had paid.

All in all, though, a fantastic stay and would thoroughly recommend for an all inclusive holiday. A beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting with wonderful staff!
