Our suite wasbpool side and excellent. The room was very long which meant that it was somewhat dark. The en-suire was superb in every respect; jacuzzi bath included. The hotel boasts several pools and restaurants catering to all tastes. Access to the Dead Sea is easy for the able and transport is provided if you feel a bit lazy or have a problem walking. The staff are very helpful and obliging. Prices reflect 5* hotels of high calibre and are worth it.

Been there with my wife for a special occasion, and they upgraded the standard room to a nice junior suite.

The suite was perfect, modern furniture, exotic lightings and a nice balcony with a great view!
Swimming pools were perfect, they have a heated pool which is perfect in cold days. The staff always happy and smiling.

Tiny touches makes big difference, the complimentary cold water bottles, the fresh cold towels by the pools and the Arabic sweets in your room.

If you are planning to stay in Dead Sea, then Kempinski Ishtar is the hotel you should consider!

Let me start by saying this hotel is magnificently situated facing the Dead Sea and very well appointed, Spacious rooms, acres of space in the public areas so never seemed crowded and multiple bars and swimming pools all go to make what we hoped would be a very relaxing 2 days by the Dead Sea. However our experiences with service let down the experience.

At breakfast on the 1st day there was no butter on the buffet near the bread and pasties, so my wife asked a staff member for some. It took 20 mins for some butter to arrive by which time we were finishing breakfast and about to walk out the door. As we passed the buffet we noticed again there was no butter on the table so the staff member must have just brought the one little portion out. Surely if one guest is asking for butter it would be a trigger to bring out a plate full. Just hope other guests didn't have to wait 20 mins too. Again at breakfast I had to go and hunt out a staff member to get a refill of coffee as there was no one circulating. At one point I saw 4 staff members talking by the desk at the entry than circulating to clear table and see if guests required anything. Sure, they might well have been discussing work matters but surely you don't leave you guests unattended to do so. I did not see any managers or supervisors circulating when we breakfasted so that may have contributed to the problem. Considering the prices paid and the reputation of Kempinski I found service to be below what I would expect.

Another issue that bugged us was the loud techno music played in the café that adjoins the infinity pool. We were planning to have a relaxing morning by the pool but it was far from relaxing with a constant 'thump, thump, thump'. A request to turn down the music went unheeded so we reluctantly moved on. I query if the music was being played for the benefit of staff who were all young rather that the guests? Again on the service issue, on several occasions we had to hunt out a staff member to order drinks and they seemed to circulate very infrequently or maybe there was insufficient staff on duty.

After 2 negative points I have to try and redress the balance somewhat with a positive. We, (wife, daughter and son-in-law) attended the Kush Bar one evening for a cocktail mixing course and we had a great time. I am unsure who the staff member was but think he was a manager as he wore a suit but he was most helpful guiding us with flavours and joining in our laughter. We had 2 cocktails, one he said he designed himself and our own concoction. We had a real laugh and was much more enjoyable than sitting in other bars most of which had few patrons and little atmosphere. I just wonder why they only run these cocktail courses on a single day of the week. The Dead Sea is not a place I would imagine most people spend more than a couple of days if you were not there on a Mon you would miss out. Why not run it every night? Kempinski, you might surprise yourself and generate a bit of a bit of a buzz about the place.

An enjoyable couple of days but let down by the service issues ...

This was my 3rd time in Ishtar for the past 3 years. One of the most relaxing and ambient places ever with free unlimited spa - Dead Sea.
Pros:
- have stayed there in both main building and sea facing villa. Both are great, though different. I liked villa more - no need to look civilized as you do not walk through indoor public area, bikini and pareo is all you need. Loved that you don't find any ceramics, only natural stobe on the floor and the walls
- food is excellent. Italian restaurant is the best, room service very fast and meals are perfect
- staff is fantastic. My big respect to recreation area managers and all receptionists. They serve you before you even start thinking of anything.
- pools are unique in this kind of hotels: a fantastic infinity pool and a very long lazy river pool. Even provided you cannot really swim in Dead Sea and all you have got is swimming in the pools, you cannot stay bored. Infinity is open until 11pm
- the territory is huge and extremely well taken care of. 700 y.o. olive trees and lots of plants of all different kinds create a unique microcosm with non-typical for this place fauna. All in all looks like a botanical garden
- music. No really pop music, lounge and latest dance sets. Nothing to irritate your ear
- spa is good. All regular facilities but the huge territory and amazing sea view. Almost no people. Excellent thai massage done by thai girls

Cons:
- I am not a paid promoter, but cannot recall any cons but Infinity pool barmen this year. It seemed the hotel bought the cheapest village boys (all barmen were new, none from the previous year) who respect only jordanians but completely ignore a european lady
- a natural cons you have to accept as it is - crowds of jordanians on weekends. Though that is an antropology gem if you like to make research on behaviors )

Room Tip: Go for an upper floors in main building. If you like to stay in villa, the best choice is first line...

Decided to go with Kempinski dead sea after staying at their Aqaba hotel. The place is amazing is perfectly groomed there is not a hair out of place. Having several different pools to choose from gives you plenty to do and floating in the dead sea is something that everybody should do at least once in their lives, it's not like anything you have ever felt, just don't shave your legs before you go.
I did find the property felt too big to a point of being impersonal, but I think that was only an issue because I was on my own. Its not easy to get around to anywhere else really unless you have your own car so you have to buy in house and the prices reflect that. I am not a frugal traveller but the spa prices stopped me in my tracks. However I doubt you would find much cheaper on the dead sea.
I would recommend this beautiful hotel to couples who want some space, don't mind paying a little more for things and like hanging out in the hotel/resort all day. But not for more than a couple of days, get yourselves down to Aqaba after you have got your dead sea experience in.
If you like a little bit of adventure hire a car to take you the short drive from the hotel to Wadi Mujib to do some canyoning, its beautiful!

This hotel is near the northern tip of the Dead Sea and is about 40 minutes away from the international airport. Hotel lobby, environment, grounds are excellent. Our room was a Junior Suite and is also very good but not quite the best we've stayed in for a Kempinski. The hotel has no shortage of very very nice swimming pools for you to enjoy in the grounds leading down to the Dead Sea.

Whilst the "beach" is very rocky, the hotel has placed 2 steps with handrails leading down to the water. The Dead Sea is an incredible experience and the waters are actually quite clean and clear. One could float on the sea with absolutely no effort whatsoever - awesome sensation !

The service from the hotel staff especially the Concierge is truly second to none - they were extremely courteous. knowledgable and helpful even BEFORE we checked into the hotel (we had asked for all kinds of information to plan our trip to Jordan) - congratulations to the hotel management for having such great staff. One of their recommendations and arrangements was for us to visit the Ma'In springs and spa which was EXCELLENT - more on this spa in another review.
