We stayed here in a very lovelyband private beach front bungalow . Impeccable service, wonderful food also Seafood BBQ . This is a special place and has it's own atmosphere and philosophy. It was perfect match to us.
We went to Koh Kham By Kayak in the afternoon. There s nice beach between the bay...
We really enjoyed having our bungalow (room called Family Deluxe) and yeah ! private sun deck was there.

You might see many animals and birds there, :) lovely
They don't have Spa yet ,only Thai massage beside the beach ,quite Cheap compared from Koh Chang
everything was simply wonderful , thanks Staff Thanks Nature...

We stayed for three nights with some family we had visiting from England, we had booked the diamond bungalows. We arrived by speedboat greeted by the excellent managers and went to our bungalows, we have paid 1700bt for these, we were very disappointed by the bungalows, very small, shocking bathroom, padlock on door, and windows wouldn’t shut, ants, towel as a bedcover. I would have paid 800 bt on other islands for this. So straight away we want and upgraded to a family standard, this cost 5000 bt a night for two bedroom and a bathroom, still very expensive IMO, but much nicer than the bungalows.

The resort is huge about 1.5 KM long, it is set on a great beach, which apart from a couple of hours when some speedboats come with Russian day trippers if very quiet, the beach and sea is fantastic, plenty of natural shade. This isn't cheap resort so was disappointed that towels weren’t provided, no sun lounges, just deck chairs, which aren’t the best to spend a day sun bathing.

It has a nice pool, but again the resort lets itself down by providing sun lounges with mats that are dirty and have rips in them, also noisy building work (In main season which I don’t understand) going on next to the pool. Also it has a pool bar that isn’t staffed, it looks like it is have finished.

Breakfast was pretty good you order what you want, staff are a bit slow, had a couple of drinks at the hotel, but didn’t eat there as it wasn’t that good and quite expensive (they add 10% service charge, which annoys me). For lunch there is a private coffee shop on resort that does good food and drinks, which are cheaper than the resort.

The guy on the front desk was great, organsising speedboats, taxis, extra towels and our upgrade.

The other problem was that the hotel was on its own beach on the other side of the island, away from all the other bars and restaurants, so you have to get a taxi there and back.

Overall the hotel is OK, but is far too overpriced for what it is, it needs some updating and little touch’s to make it worth staying there. The beach is amazing, so if that’s all you want, then it may be worth staying there. Ko Mak is great, there are a couple of great bars and restaurants (Aimmy, you can get a free taxi there and back) on the other side.

If i go to Ko Mak again I will stay on the other side of the island.

I've stayed at Koh Mak resort quite a few times now because it is a peaceful place, and I have to wholeheartedly recommend Koh Mka resort to ANYBODY visiting THailand. The reasons?

1. The resort is beautiful, clean and quiet, the rooms are wonderful (face the beach), the showers are unbelievable (modern rain showers with powerful water that gets hot very quickly, sweet!, It leaves you feeling refreshed.) and the beds are even better.

2. The staff is amazing. Once I arrived for a trip, I realized that I didn't have a reservation. Tired and devastated, the hotel staff quickly jumped to my rescue. They asked me if they could help with any need that i want, and one member of the staff walked to me and showed many different rooms to make sure that this is what i want. When I didn't, he escorted me back with many apologies. They finally booked me a room and had a car drive me. During my most recent trip, the front desk helped me coordinate a rental moterbike and a diving course. Once I arrived in the morning rather bleary-eyed to check out, a cheery staff member grabbed my bags and the speed boat was already waiting for me. A+++++ for customer service!

3. The continental breakfast is one of the best ways to start the day. Fresh coconut juice, thai dishes. Their fruit is fresh and I love being able to sit down and enjoy the view. The staff there is always friendly and brings a cup of hot coffee.

4. Speaking of complimentary, you also get free wireless Internet at I-Talay bar. Sit down and do your work in the most beautiful and relax area.

5. Fantasia, the hotel restaurant, appears to be one of the best restaurants in the Island.

If only I could find a boutique equivalent hotel in the US. Keep up the amazing work!!

Unlike the other beaches on Koh Mak this one is very clean. And as there are only two resorts on this beach you get PLENTY of space, in fact we were almost the only ones on our part of the beach despite beeing peak season. The bungalows come in many different shapes and price classes. We had booked the cheapest but, as they were full, we got luxury newbuilt ones for the same price. Beutiful bungalows and excellent service. The resort has a nice pool too. The restaurants are quite expensive but we took a nice evening walk over to the other beach where there are a few restaurants but a very dirty beach. We had a great stay!

From Ko-Chang…. We spent 5 magical days enjoying Ko-Mak resort, the pool, the food and the amazing service. 2 large rooms (expecially the top room) gave us great space and quiet beach. Bathrooms w/outdoor whirlpool and bathroom ‘n rainshower are huge as is the bedroom itself!.
Ha’ even the fussy kids enjoyed the Thai food. There's a massage little Sala just in front of the beach which is very handy and it's not really expansive (around 8 euros for 2 hours)I took 3times in 5 days ha! .It was a very relaxing and memorable break winter.. Thank them all very much for so much friendliness and kindness all the time. So see you again for Sure!

We booked 5 nights in a superior beachfront suite at Koh Mak resort. The room was about 4'000 THB per night, which is quite a lot for Thailand. For this amount you can expect far better value.
It looks like all rooms are in line along the beach, with one restaurant at each end. Our concrete bungalow was right in front of the beach, with a lovely view. So far OK. But the walkway going to the restaurant was situated between our room and the beach, i.e. no intimacy in the room...
The room itself was quite dusty, oldish, with an obvious lack of maintenance. We were hardly able to open the doors to the beach-side, which should have been the highlight of that kind of bungalows. A piece of the air-con was missing and consequently it was blowing directly on the bed - we litterally freezed. The TV didn't work at all.
Since they didn't close properly, the cupboards were open to spiders and geckos. At night, we also found black worms next to our bed on the floor.
There was very little light inside the room. At night, the room didn't offer a lot of intimacy either: as the curtains don't cover all of the wide windows, people were able to look right inside.
The bathroom (located outside) had no hot water! However, several frogs enjoyed the place.
Furthermore, there was construction work right behind our bungalow, starting before 8 am!
There was also some construction work going on right next to the beautiful infinity pool (looked like some expansion work to increase the number of bungalows in the resort). The sound and the sight of it was quite disturbing. The bar next to the pool was certainly pleasant ten years ago, but we saw no staff whatsoever and it looked untended.
This big resort looked like a "tourist parking", where they are eager to catch as many tourists as possible, while not taking care of those present.
The reception was about 10 min walk away from our bungalow, which ment we were driven with our suitcases. If you wanted internet, kayaking or snorkelling, you had to pay extra, unlike other similarly-priced resorts. The breakfast was very basic.
Since we had already paid 50% in advance, we left the hotel after 2 nights and found a far better hotel. Koh Mak Resort is really too expensive for what it offers. You can find better accomodation on the island for half the price. The only fantastic thing in this hotel is its website, which makes yout think you're going to a great place... that's absolutely not the case!
