Stayed here for just over a week - fantastic time! Stayed in one of the Lanna Cottages - very spacious with Air Con, fan, TV and DVD player - the resort has a small DVD library in the restaurant / bar area. Restaurant was focal point of whole resort - great food served all day long - we ate here every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Beach is fantastic and by far the best on the island - not a sinner on it! The resort also offers bicycles, kayak, table tennis, volley ball, snooker, internet access, massage treatments. We toured the island on bicycles and visited many of the other resorts and were so glad that we'd chosen Ao Kao - by far the best location and beach and close enough to other resorts if you want to go and eat elsewhere. Definitely recommend this resort and we'll be back when next in Asia!!

the resort was lovely, I felt the bungalows were over priced, but i guess i am still expecting the good old prices of a few years ago. the beach was wonderful - you were quite on your own, which is wonderful. swimming ok, (but supposedly far better on koh kood next island in the chain). rooms were nicely kept and clean and the staff were very helpful indeed. the beach bar and restaurant were in a great location and every night pretty lanterns light your way along the beach front. we didnt hire motobikes so were pretty much stranded there (which wasnt a bad thing) but it did mean we had to stick to their menu every night.. the position of the place is great tho - we walked down the beach back to the pier and felt that we had chosen well (there is quite alot of rubbish washed up further down) and the beach on the other side of thi island isnt as picturesque at all. we hired bikes and had a goo explore of the island and there are other deserted beaches around and about. sand flies - are a pain. i kept getting bit on the beach but didnt realise until it was too late - I was so paranoid about mosquitos of a night that i never thought to protect myself from the flies on the beach (that I never saw or felt!) i would recommend the coconut oil that they sell inj the shop during the day, and avons skin so soft for the evening.

second time at the Ao Kao. I stay in the traditional Thai style houses. They are in front of the beach. You wake up listening to the birds and the sounds of the waves. The staff are very friendly and genuinely wish to assist you in all . Internet access and a restaurant. Everything from ice to snorkel and mask can be recieved. The white sandy beach with hammoks and beds are appealing to the eyes. You cannot find a better Island to enjoy and this thai style house is divine.
