My partner and I stayed at the Suchanaree beach huts in November 2008. We were looked for a relaxed place right on the beach and we weren't dissappointed. It's a small simple family run operation. The huts themselves have no frills but they are clean and have a attached bathroom. The main attraction of Suchanaree is the beautiful location. It's at the prettiest part of Ao Suan Yai Beach. The huts themselves are nestled amongst the coconut trees. On one side of the huts there is just nature and tropical vegetation. On the other side of the huts is the upmarket ko maak resort so you've got all the conveniences (such as internet, mini market, restuarants and a nice little beach bar) close at hand. Suchanaree itself has a small but adequate restaurant. The owners of suchanaree don't speak a huge amount of english but were very friendly. There is a guy from northern ireland on site, who takes up residence there every year for the dry season who is always around to give you any info you might need (anything from directions round the island, to the football results and a daily update on the bbc weather reports). If you're looking for peace and quiet and nature i can recommend this place. A perfect place for a mellow time and a top spot for watching the sun set.
