“we really enjoyed our stay, brilliant resort!”
Reviewed 24 November 2011

After staying at Goodtime Resort beforehand, we looked around and found the Plubpla resort on the other end of Koh Mak. It is quite far away from everything else and very quiet. But with a scooter that you can also rent here, you can still access the island if you want.
The style is amazing and exactly to our taste, we think it is the most beautiful on Koh Mak. (We were 16 days on Koh Mak and had time to take a look at all the resorts.)
The owner and also the manager are amazingly friendly people. The way they played with our children and treated us was more than one could expect from any hotel. It was close to being part of the family.
The resort looks like designed right out of an architecture magazine. We had a beachfront bungalow with jacuzzi which we really loved.
Life is easy and laid back in Plubpla resort, everything can be organized from within the resort (even massages right in your room), so laziness is bound to creep in! ;-)
We also liked the cuisine offered here in the restaurant. The breakfast was also good, especially when they offered free extras like Thai dumplings and other delicious treats.
The pool is really beautiful and maybe the nicest on the island. Our kids loved it, especially since most beaches on Koh Mak are plagued by sand flies etc.
The beach in front of Plubpla is nice but maybe not the best on the island (probably Ao Kaoh or Lazy day have that, but they have no pool).
Sometimes the staff seemed a bit insecure, but for us this never was a problem, it added to the family feeling of the resort.
Just to give an example of the way the manager cared for us: She called us on my mobile phone in Bangkok to see if we arrived well (flooding, problems with mini bus). This was really really nice!! We would return to Plubpla any time! And we can recommend it wholeheartedly.

The owner are very friendly and helpful. They are have kindness to help my mom give ice and medicine to room us. (my mom was falling from the step with her high heel shoe) They are discount 50% for help thai people get the flood. The pool was very pleasant, since there is no chlorine but salt in the water. Sea food fresh and cheap. I would like to recommend PlubPla Resort.

We stayed here for five days to celebrate my birthday. The resort is by far one of the best we stayed in on this trip to Thailand. Our Beachfront bungalow was equipped with its own private jaquzzi and situated on the beach. The rooms was clean and stylish furnitured with a very nice bathroom. The restaurant on the resort served us excellent food. On my birthday they even suprise us with birhdaysong and cake, which I appreciated very much.
The beach on the resort isn`t the best on the island but the water is calm and ok for swimming. Besides there is a big pool with sunbeds. We recommend renting a motorbike to travel around this beautiful island, the friendly staff will help you renting one.
We will recomend this resort for everyone searching for lazy days in tropical surroundings.

Good resort, very nice people and great pool. The area is a bit far from the main area but not a big deal since everything is close-by.

This is by far the best resort on Koh Mak (we know as we looked at 5 others). The retreat arranged a free taxi to collect us off the boat and take us to the retreat. The decor here is amazing, minimal, thai and very clean (the toilets are very cool in the foyer with fish swimming at your feet!) If the infinity pool doesn't catch your eyes at first there stunning iron chandeliers in the foyer will! Our 'beach hut' is most definitely 5 star bungalow (with wall to wall windows, walk in wet room, indoor and outdoor showers, air con and room safe), this is the kind of place I would only dream of staying in if it was in Europe! Great value for money on Koh Mak. Each bungalow is raised up from the ground with wooden walkways all linking to the main path to the foyer. The nice thing too is all the grass surrounding the bungalows (having traveled for the last 4 months, we haven't seen much of the green stuff)! There were very few guest at this time and almost every day the pool to ourselves which really has a stunning view. The beach isn't white fine sand but it's still nice to walk along and collect many shells and paddle around.

There is internet access in the foyer and by the pool (not in bungalows, but no rooms in Koh Mak seem to have this). The breakfast menu could be improved with a healthy option and slightly frustrating there was only foreign tv channels. Free bottled water and cheap minibar. Very nice restaurant menu for the evenings we had a very good salad for lunch too. A gym would be a real bonus to this place as an added activity as this retreat is far away from the busy side of the island and if the internet and tv doest work in the evenings it can get very quiet (especially in rain season and you can't lie by the pool!) - after a few days of peace and listening to the waves you should take the local taxi to some outside restaurants - some even do free transfers (usual taxi is 50Bht PP each way). We also rented a scooter for a day, 4 hours we explored the whole island - great fun!

Great staff who are very friendly and really cuddly playful Husky dog (always on his lead, very safe).

I would highly recommend this place for any one who is in need of some luxury quiet time - Bliss!

Room Tip: The beach bungalows at the front of the beach have hot tubs, we stayed in number 8 they have 18 luxu...

We stayed nearly two weeks at the Plubpla resort and it was just perfect.
Very new, modern and stylish bungalows (all seaview) with aircondition, Flatscreen TV, in and outside shower and a gorgeous interieur. The front bungalows are equipped with a brilliant outdoor yacuzzi. Not to forget the fantastic big pool. The restaurant serves excellent thaifood. The smart owner and his friendly and helpful staff, did all to make our visit as comfortable as possible.

This was our second stay at Plubla, as we call it. We come here for the quietness and for the slow living. This is the place where you can read the book, look at the stars in the night or just sit in your bed and look out to the ocean. The villas are decorated with an easy touch of feng shui and are very comfortable. The staff is very kindly and ready to help with all your matters. The kitchen make the most fantastic thai dishes and the portions will fill any hungry stomach.
We really recommend tis reatreat to everyone who seek for the stillness.
