We stayed at Plubpla for 9 nights from mid Jan and could hardly fault it. If you want somewhere quiet and relaxing then this is the place, Only 18 bungalows so no chance of overcrowding with the most helpful of staff run by the owners, the Kwang family who could not have been more accomodating. The restaurant was good with a wide choice, although occasionally the food could have been warmer, but the prices both there and in the room mini bar were extremely reasonable for a 4 star hotel. Bungalow rooms spacious with excellent bathroom and cleaned thoroughly each day and have a large verandha with views down to the sea. Super pools with plenty of seating and the grounds were immaculate. We didn't fancy a motorcycle so the hotel organised a golf buggy which turned out to be a marvellous way to tour the island - safe with time to take it all in. Would recommend Plubpla to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday.

We loved everything about this place. Elegance in all ways, including staff, rooms, walkways, views, restaurant, pool, everything was beautiful. I don't want dusty knick knacks, I don't want overly friendly falsified charm from servers. This place somehow manages to be modern high end, while still adhering to calm and easy attitudes. Effortless. And we are going back to this exact same resort next year. My husband and I very much appreciated Plubpla and hope that very little changes between our recent trip in late February and next year. (The beach is small, yes, but it's right there, 3 feet from the open air restaurant. If this weren't a small beach with a bit of beautiful black rock in it, the cost would probably be 3 times higher). If you have specific questions, feel free to contact us! Wendy and Larry

Room Tip: From all rooms you see the sea. All the room are identical quality inside, but some have a bigger fl...

Nice resort on a very calm island. Service was soso. Our arranged pick-up from the ferry was not there, no amenities, towels or water in the room. Staff was reserved, to say the least. We did all the offered bike, cycle, snorkeling activities (unless you want to share the water with a couple of hundred other people, invest the money and go on a private snorkeling tour, believe me, the sight was not nice).
Food was OK apart from the myriads of massive insects you watch dying during your dinner. Beach is tiny and it is hard to get into the water without getting your feet cut.
I love a quiet and calm place, and this was the very reason we went this far out, but my wife and I had both the strange feeling like in Stephen Kings novel “Langoliers”. It was eerily quiet and simply lacks atmosphere. A resort which failed to excite us.

This is an amazing place if you are looking for a relaxing stay. Gorgeous views, amazing infinity pool, beautiful bungalows and very clean/trendy. Friendly but reserved staff, not what we were used too. Food ok but nothing special. Thaï food made for Europeans. There are better options closer to the pier. But in conclusion:worth every single penny! Not a resort for children! Nothing more annoying than a crying baby in such a "ZEN" paradise...

We came to Koh Mak for 7 nights in Feb 2013 and loved every minute of it! This is very much due to the amazing Plubpla Resort - this is one of those places that are rare among hotels. Everything is carefully considered down to the last detail, informal and cosy, yet stylish and very beautiful with individual art pieces and lovely clean decor. Designed for the ultimate relaxation!

We instantly felt at home - being warmly welcomed at the pier by Mr Kwang and the very attentive, always smiling staff who's always there for you when you need them.

The place offers impeccable service, AMAZING food (the kitchen is supervised by Mr Kwang's wife), the most beautiful infinity pool, individual private beach bungalow w own terraces in gorgeous, secluded natural surroundings on a private beach.

We actually ended up getting married at the local temple and had it not been for Mr. Kwang this never would have been possible! He took care of everything, even though this was a very impulsive decision - there was no hesitation and he went above and beyond what could be expected.

This is a unique place - a gem, run by an amazing man and his family who makes you feel special and treats you like no other place we've ever stayed.

It was hard to leave and we can't wait to go back again...

First must say that Koh Mak is a very nice island. Very quiet and away from the crowds. The four families that owned the island intend to keep it that way.

The Plubpla Resort is located on an isolated end of Koh Mak which makes it ideal for those looking for a quiet get a way.

The resort is very nice and the grounds very well maintained. Loved the pool and the individual villas very nice and relaxing.
The Thai massage in the hotel was fantastic.
The only negatives were with the beds in the room. They were very hard. The beach was very clean but more of a tidal flat than beach. Other than that, it is a very nice place.

We stayed 7 nights at Plubpla, in total 11 persons (3 families)
We enjoyed the resort very much. The bungalows is spacious and well designed.
It is possible to have 2 extra beds in the bungalows.

The resort is well kept and it is clean. The pool area is very nice and clean, the pool also works for smaller children. The beach is nice but there are a lot of rocks in the water. This makes swimming in the ocean less easy.
By the restaurant there is a part that doesn't has much rocks and there it
is easy to go into the ocean, due to high/low tide i recommend to swim in the ocean before lunch and in the pool after lunch. At low tide you need to walk out a bit to be able to swim.
This was not a big problem but needs to be mentioned I think. Bathing shoes can be recommended.

The food at the restaurant was good and well cooked, the restaurant prices was good.
Also the service was good.

The resort is very relaxing and one of the reasons for that is the remote location, you do not
have anything else nearby. We rented a moped for the duration of our stay and did daily trips
for sightseeing and small shopping. You can also take a taxi to the "Main" street.
Koh Mak is a very relaxed island and it is not for party people, many restaurants closed at 22:00 when we were there.

I can recommend to take a trip to Islanda hotell (on top of the hill) for a very nice view.
I can also recommend to book thai massage here, I had two sessions and the girls was very good.

Room Tip: All rooms are pretty much the same, those closest to the water has there own jacuzzi
