The resort as advertised on the website doesnt actually do justice to the resort, its far better than portrayed on the website. So first impressions were good and just got better during our 5 day stay over New Year.

The staff, the food, the rooms and location were just great. For anyone wishing to get away and relax on an island yet to be over developed, this is the place to be. The bungalows and resort are located in natural surroundings and still retain original landscaping and wooded area, providing good shade throughout the day should you require a break from the ever present sunny day. The beach is secluded and with just the one resort occupying this particular beach, the place is your own.

An added bonus is that the resort has its own speedboat and are willing and eager to take you on trips to other islands such as Kho Kood and Koh Dorada. Also available for hire at the resort and cheaper than at most other places we could find are motorcycles and bicycles.

We stayed over Christmas 2010 for seven nights. We are frequent travelers in Thailand and have much experience with the islands, resorts, and beaches. The main appeal of Little Moon was its location far from any center of activity on Koh Mak. We were really looking forward to some quiet vacation time, as we live in hectic Bangkok. The first couple of days went as planned, however a tour group of 20+ people showed up on the third day (without warning) and proceeded to hijack any peace and quiet to be had, particularly at night. The management, for whatever reason, didn't place any limits on the noise this group made, so loud revelry past midnight was the rule for three nights in a row. This was a serious bummer and kind of ruined the trip for us. In addition, we found out from other guests after we had gone home that another large party came to the resort, so our experience doesn't seem to be unique.

The resort itself does have some positives. The bungalows are nice and new. During the day when large groups aren't around it is peaceful and quiet. The food is good, although the choices get a bit boring after a week's stay. The staff are helpful and friendly, and Ray was a great guide around the area. The grounds are well kept, and the vibe is definitely that of tropical beach relaxation.

On the other hand, the owners/managers need to try harder to be a bit more professional, especially considering the prices charged for the bungalows. They need to communicate much more with their guests (we didn’t find out about the Christmas Eve barbecue until it was practically happening); be better prepared for “peak” season—they kept running out of stuff like drinks and food, which, because of the location, leaves the guests out of luck; and need to take greater care with the bills, as there were mistakes every day on our and other guests’ charges. The beach isn’t that great here either. It’s a bit rocky and mucky, especially compared to the much better beaches at other spots around the island.

Overall, we didn’t have a horrible experience, but it wasn’t terrific either. We believe there are better options both on Koh Mak, and on surrounding islands.

If your looking for Off the beaten track, cosy and quiet - look no further. Just spent 5 days there and can't fault the place. Stylish bungalows at a reasonable price. Also they have plenty of lights (a bugbear of mine, dimly lit rooms so you can't read at night!!) The food is AMAZING . They have a speed boat and took us on an island exploring trip which I would definitely recommend. Friendly staff especially Miss Mam who was there to pick us up when we arrived.

My husband and I stayed at Little Moon recently and would highly recommend it to those looking for a little hideaway. Little Moon is slightly off the beaten track but as a result has its own private beach. There are only around 8 or 9 bungalows in beautiful, landscaped gardens. This is a brand-new resort and the staff are very welcoming and extremely helpful. The restaurant, in particular, deserves a special mention. The chef (called Captain) is amazing - and even if you don't stay here, please, please go for the food. I can't wait to go back to this piece of paradise.
