This lovely quiet guesthouse had marvellous views, comfortable rooms and great food.We had personal attention from the owners, Kat and Allen, throughout our 9 day stay and found it a perfect place to explore Koh Mak and just chill. We recommend it without reservation!

We just put on a pot of coffee from the beans that Kat sells in her shop, and the aroma harkened us back to the wonderful time spent at Thaidaho (Despite it being -15degrees Celsius back here in Canada). It also reminded us that we must write this review to thank and praise our gracious hosts Kat, allen and family for another glorious stay. This place is absolute paradise, so much so, we have come back here three Januarys in a row. By far, Thaidaho vista (and Koh Mak) is our favorite place to stay in Thailand. We have stayed in the ocean view room twice and were fortunate enough to have the Vista Room available to us this year. What a view. I think we read its the best view in the gulf of Thailand, but for us its our favorite view in the whole world!

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent!

Great place with the best view. No resort facilities as such except good ol fashioned homely friendliness of the hosts Kat and Allen who make you feel so welcome to their island. Great views and location to walk to all the beaches and restaurants and reasonable prices,

by far the best view on the island , overlooking the jetty and beach on the west side of the island.
the rooms here are very comfortable and , well laid out, adequate storage for short stays , and very clean.
shower room is large with a big mirror above the basin , perfect for the ladies .
it can get breezy as it is on the only hill on the island, but that can actually be good as it helps keep you cool.
food is always hot and well prepared , breakfast was very good and served prompt, each morning.
they some times have a barbecue night which they did during our stay, lots of food served in stages, great selection of foods served , and extremely enjoyable, even though i were not so well i still enjoyed the night.
there are some home made treats available for purchase, which are delicious.
you will be met at the pier and shown to your taxi which will take you the 5 minute ride to the
guest house, for 50 baht per person.
whist there you will be given a short brief of what to be careful of , places to visit and a quick overview of the island.
for us this was a perfect 2 day retreat and look forward to our next visit

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the sea are fantasic

We spent a week here in December 2013, 1 night in Ocean View Room and 7 nights in Flex Room. Allen was very helpful with all the information we needed before coming to the island, offering to make reservations for the speedboat, arranging a driver from Bangkok etc.

The place itself is wonderful. Rooms are very comfortable, clean, spacious and very reasonably priced (we found Koh Mak to be rather expensive), there's a communal kitchenette and the peaceful grassy yard has hammocks and sun loungers with a million $ view.

And even if you're staying someplace else, please come to their café and treat yourself to one of their delicious hearty breakfasts paired with a big cup of Kat's coffee. You can get anything from fresh fruit and banana pancakes (my son's favourites) to big breakfasts with eggs, toast, potatoes, bacon etc... And all that on a terrace with that amazing view.

Even though Vista is not right on the beach, the biggest beach on the island is just 5 minutes away (half a minute if you rent a motorbike like we did).

If you're staying in Flex Room and you're a light sleeper, I recommend that you take earplugs (I always have them with me so it wasn't a problem) - next to your window there's something like a water pump which sometimes makes noise and that's the place where the family members park their motorbike so that could occasionally wake you up in the morning.

I guess the only bad thing about this place is that they don't have Vista branches on neighbouring islands too :)

This is a wonderful place indeed. I treated myself to the upstairs bedroom with the stunning view. Was totally worth it! Allen and Kat are very helpful and making sure you'll have a perfect stay. Recommended!

Room Tip: I would spend the few extra bahts and take the room with the million dollar view!

We stayed at the Thaidaho Vista for 7 nights and were overall very happy.
The booking could be done by e-mail and Allen gave us useful information beforehand regarding transport to Koh Mak and advice such as how to handle the sandflies. He arranged the pick-up and transport from Trat airport to the pier and reserved the speedboat tickets for us so we did not have to worry about anything. Allen welcomed us at the pier on Koh Mak. The Thaidaho Vista is on a little hill overlooking the beautiful bay of Ao Soun Yai with a splendid view to Koh Kham. Believe me, you won't get tired of this view ! Our room itself was spacious, clean and with a comfortable big double bed. The shower was with warm water.
There is a small kitchen for common use and several chairs and hammocks outside for resting and enjoying the view.
We had breakfast each day and loved it, especially Kat's coffee. We were actually looking forward to the Thaidaho sandwhich each morning, which is, in our opinion, the best in Southeast Asia !
Allen and Kat are both easygoing and made sure their guests are happy. They gave us very useful advice regarding places to visit on Koh Mak or where best to rent a bike and also arranged the transport and pick-up for the way back.
Since it is located on the hill, you can access the beaches on both sides of the island.
We would love to stay there again !
