We didn’t stay here, but dropped in for a few pints. Interesting place, but if you enjoy good beer, ask them to draw it off straight from the cask, as it is chilled a few degrees in the pipes. Massive difference between a very good pint direct from the cask, and a mediocre on drawn at the bar. You have to pay a lot for the beer, so it should be served well at the right temperature (cellar temp - not fridge temps).

    Other than that, great place.

where to start....booked in here by a company for three days and was gutted. the room came straight out of the 1980s, dark, awful bed linen really is in need of updating. the room was clean but the bathroom had this awful fusty sort of smell, in all honesty dried urine! While I have nothing against smokers it really does not appeal to me to sleep in a place where people can smoke in their rooms fire hazard doesnt cut it and I fretted all night. the room was clean and the staff were more than accommodating even taking me to the car park which is horrendous to find, the breakfast was stunning, beautiful bacon cheery staff, its in a great location find the gurka oven for an evening meal it is simply the best
food you will ever eat. if this place refurbed and stopped smoking it is worth another visit but as it is, its not for me..........sorry guys, I also thought it was so overpriced, 60.00 a room, it was only 69 for the premier up the road at Peterborough, premier for me all the way.

We wanted to go to the flower parade and chose the Red Lion due to it's central position in the Market Place in Spalding. Not wrong, exactly in the centre. If you wish to visit Spalding try this place. It's a very good hotel with a proper pub bar. The place is quite old but full of character. The breakfast room is wood panelled and feels very high quality. The breakfast was good with choices from toast to full English excellently served by the smart staff. The rooms are as described by others, clean, very well equipped with lots of toiletries, tea and coffee facilities. Our room, 23 was at the rear and very quiet with a shower. Cotton sheets, very clean and was serviced in the time we went to the breakfast room. Never saw the room service person.
There is a secure car-park about 2 minutes away.
We tried the bar and there is a very good choice of drinks, reasonably priced.
Excellent friendly staff, good clientèle and a pleasant atmosphere.
Expect creaking floor boards but this adds to the general feel of a non plastic premises.
There are lots of eateries close by for evening meals.
We recommend this hotel in a very nice market town.

Situated in the centre of Spalding, this Hotel offers excellent value for money. The rooms are clean, well equipped and comfortable. I especially liked the choice of feather or non feather pillows. The shower room was compact but perfectly functionable with plenty of fresh towels and toiletries. Breakfast is additional and well worth the cost. Cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, quality ingrediant full English, freshly ground coffee, toast etc and all for a fiver!
Evening meals are not available at the Red Lion, but it is surrounded by good restaurants. The staff will happily talk you the options.
If you are unfamiliar with Spalding town centre and are travelling by car, I would suggest ringing the Hotel in advance for parking advise. They do have a car park but it can be tricky to find without direction.
All the staff I have encountered have been lovely, helpful, welcoming and made me feel at home without being OTT.
