Gold Crest Hotel
Ranked #4 of 5 Hotels in Quatre Bornes

I stay at Gold crest when I am in the Quatre Bornes area. I've stayed here twice, mainly for location and price. You can get cheaper guest houses in MRU but Gold Crest is a budget-type hotel. Cost is approx US$ 65 per day but negotiable! The rooms on the 4th floor are probably better because you get a small balcony. It is supposedly non-smoking in all rooms but you can still smoke so if you are a smoker, you might prefer a room with a balcony! You get a double bed/ twin beds with an old TV and local channels. Wifi is not free and not worth it because it is really slow. The square directly opposite of Gold Crest offers the public free wifi so you are probably better off trying that out. It probably takes approx 45 mins by car to the airport. The only toilet accessory provided is soap and maybe in some rooms they refill the liquid soap container and shampoo fixed in the shower cubicle. Overall, a good enough hotel situated unfortunately in what appears to be a Red Light District area.

I was statying at Gold Crest in January 2014 for 6 days. The Quatre Bornes Locality was friendly and had a good nighlife around with good food joints like Pizza Hut KFC etc. The Hotel Rooms although were small and the staff were co-operative. Bad Wifi Service !!

Dear guest,

It has been a pleasure for us in welcoming you in our hotel, we have taken good note of your wifi problem which was probably due to a high volume of internet users but rest assure that an upgrade for the internet connection in the hotel is in process.

Thanking you and we hope to welcome you soon in the Gold Group of Hotels.

We were put up at Gold crest. The hotel is in the city area of Mauritius. The rooms are good and you will have a silent stay.
The food is average.no free WiFi.The staff is good, limited food options.
The market place near the hotel is good to buy good stuffs at affordable price.

Room Tip: Judging by our room, all the rooms are good.

Gold Crest Hotel is centrally located near Quatre Bornes Market, Mauritius. Suitable for business people, visiting Mauritius for short business trips. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Opt for stay with breakfast. Very economical.

Fantastic staff keep me going back to this hotel, from the manager down to the concierge , all fantastic people, rooms need a bit of refurbishing, and the whole hotel could do with an uplift., rooms are very neglected.
Breakfast is ok, choices limited, but service very good.
Reception staff always smiling and ready to oblige.
The locationis good, with the market being near and all businesses in quatre borne, however chose rooms wisely otherwise the noise of the market people will wake you up at 430 am on most days.
I would recommend this hotel to groups , conferences and families on a short holiday.

stayed there for 3 nights in September. We reserved standard room but after check-in asked to be moved to superior because standard room was not up to expectation. Thin mattress, rickety queens size bed plus extra single bed, furniture old, carpet tatty, old not properly closing windows, no safe, no kettle. Superior room which seemed to have recently renovated was better. Bed large and ok, good kingsize mattress, safe, kettle (not working though) in the room, lights were dim, TV aged, no cable TV, internet was not working or not available in the hotel. Had it worked the advertised rates were outrageous. Windows in superior quite new but not closing properly. Good a/c. Shower superb with good water pressure, otherwise the bathroom needs some hooks and some shelves to hang or put things. Towels very thin. A little sprucing up of the rooms will bring this hotel to a higher level.
Chambermaid very nice and helpful. Staff in restaurant pleasant and friendly. Breakfast buffet could be expanded a bit but staff is ready to respond to extra demands. Restaurant menu offers variety and prices very good. Hotel is conveniently situated in the center of Quatres Bornes, opposite taxi stand and bus terminal, next to local market and a few step from small shopping mall.

Room Tip: try not to get room not facing the market
