“Well-run hotel with excellent restaurant”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

We stayed at the Cheval Blanc for two nights with our little daughters. We arrived rather early off the ferry but were met courteously, given coffee in the courtyard while our room was made ready and then helped to our room with our numerous bags. Full marks to them for having a baby-changing table in the hotel reception loos.

We ate several times in the restaurant. Numerous good set menus, amazing sea food delicious foie gras and excellent service, a real treat.

Rooms were perfectly clean with above average bathrooms for this type of small hotel. My only gripe is that the hotel is on quite a busy road so if your room is on the street side of the hotel it can be noisy. This is hardly their fault though.

They have a lovely garden which our girls enjoyed.

Room Tip: Ask for non-street side if you are a light sleeper.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel, a friday and saturday. In the small town there is a nightclub that stays open until the early hours therefore there is a constant stream of drunken, singing (often nicely in tune) French youngsters passing the hotel on their way home. Even with the windows and shutters closed, this was a bit of a disruption to a good nights sleep. We live in Bournemouth so we are fairly used to this except for the "singing in tune" bit.
Apart from this, the hotel was very good with a nice big shower, comfy bed and an obvious ecological bias which extended to half the bulbs in the room not working thereby saving eletricity. The Breakfast was excellent (should be for 8 Euros) and our friends said that the restaurant was very good which was reinforced by the fact that it was extremely busy. There were some nice relaxing areas and a bar area for residents. I'd probably stay there again but not at a weekend.

Room Tip: Try and obtain a room at the back away from the road and revellers (see, it's not just Britain...
