Visiting Hampi we chose to stay in Hospet. Ideally we would have stayed in or around Hampi , but staying in Hospet turned out surprisigly well. It is convenient for train arrival and onward departure. It is not far from Hampi and other attractions in the area . Hotel Malligi can also offer a level of facility and value that we couldn't find in Hampi.
We stayed in an impressive de luxe room which was exceptionally well equipped.Restaurant meals were good with a wide choice- service was friendly if at times over enthusiatic. The 24 hr check in and helpfulness of the staff works well with train travel. The hotel was also able to arrange visits and transfers efficiently for us.
The pool was an added bonus, although as others have commented it could be cleaner. Nonetheless it was a great 'oasis ' to return to at the end of a days sightseeing. It helped to make Hampi into a memorable part of our trip.
