Greg was very helpful, and always available to answer questions. Rooms are basic, but adequate. Very good restaurant! And they do have wi-fi! Friendly, easy-going place.

My husband and I stayed there for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Like other reviewers stated, it does not have hot water but after a hot day in the sun, the cool shower feels very refreshing. Greg and his partner are great hosts and made sure everything went well for us. This is not a luxury hotel but the price is great and the food is excellent. Because the rooms are small, it kind of forces the guests to intermingle with others on the patio, which is a nice way to meet others. We would definitely stay there again!

The town of Santa Fe and the two nights I spent at the Hotel Santa Fe were highlights of my recent trip to Panama. The Hotel Santa Fe is not for everyone. If hot water and wi-fi are on your absolute must-have list and you can’t get along without them, you will not be happy here. But if you are willing to trade a few of the comforts of home for a taste of a simpler life, I think you will find it a worthwhile experience. The view from the porch was beautiful- a place I wish I could have spent more time sitting, and there are lots of wonderful hikes in the area. The rooms were very basic but comfortable. There’s no hot water, but when you come back hot and sweaty after a long hike, that isn’t so bad. Les was very friendly and helpful, and brought us fresh squeezed grapefruit juice when we came back from our hike. The meals were good, and if you stay there, make sure to try the hojaldres at breakfast.

We used this place as a base for the hikes we did in the area with Xplora (Luis Calvo). The rooms are very basic but clean. There is no hot water. The place is situated in an idyllic and picturesque setting (see photo taken at sunrise while I was sat on the porch drinking my cup of coffee). The building is charming and more so its host/proprietor Les, who has been doing a fantastic job in running the place. The food and drinks they make are superb. Their hojaldres are to die for. According to Luis, they are the best ones he has had in Panama. The only thing I would have liked to place to have, being the technology addict that I am, is wifi. If you could leave without it for a few days, you are in a perfect place.

Room Tip: choose rooms that are furthest from the road

We visited Santa Fe for a few days this summer. This litte town (village ?) is nested high in the mountains and is about a five hour drive away from Panama City. The small hotel Santa Fe (formerly El Sol) was recently taken over by an American/Panamanian couple who turned this place to a cozy, clean, charming place to stay in. Greg and Less and wonderful hosts who'll be more than happy to help with any questions.
The rooms are very basic, so don't expect much.
Most rooms don't have hot water or AC (there are only a couple of rooms that do, but they are slightly more expensive, so you can ask if they're free.)
The Resturant in the hotel is separate costs but is very good and we basically chose to eat there all pur meals during our stay.
Go on a hike up in the mountain, go down to the waterfall, take a horseback ride or slide with a tube down the river - Santa Fe is charming and the views will take your breath away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not facing the road, upgrade to a hot water and AC room (just $9 more per nig...

This nice little hotel is on the hill as one enters Santa Fe .
Very clean tidy rooms with a super restaurant all run by La senora Miriam.
She will organise your tour plans ,fishing or in the waterfalls or horseriding excursions.
The countryside all around is gorgeous , this is a place almost untouched & unspoilt .
Well recommended for a few days fresh air to get way from it all & kick back.
