Lovely clean hotel with very friendly staff. A good base to visit many of the local attractions and walks. The rooms have ample space with all the necessities to hand including tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer, wall mounted television and a guide to the local area.

The coffee shop on site provides a great continental breakfast and a full cooked breakfast can be obtained at the pub that is less than a two minute drive away; however we really didn't see the need to get a cooked breakfast when there was so much variety at the coffee shop.

We were just glad to find a place in the lake district and also very lucky that we came in on A591, or we may have had a difficult time finding it. Having made a guick stop at a service location on M6 and making a hurried online reservation, I hadn't taken time to check for "directions" but had gotten a very good rate. Our std double seemed small but doable. After dinner we found our TV didn't work; to our surprise we were given a family size room with a working TV at no extra cost. We were pleased with the substantial continental breakfast. All staff were very helpful. If you don't mind being out of town a few miles the Lodge is a good option.

Room Tip: A standard double is a bit tight.

I recommend you look at a few pictures of the place and note its location. If you are still wanting to stay here after that then do. Staff were extremely accomodating and polite during our stay. Continental breakfast was impressive. Walls are a tad thin but on a whole the standards are high.

We had a nice stay and realised that this would be out of the way, so this was part of the appeal to us. Continental breakfast as described and good choice. The rooms were adequate but are starting to need a little tlc. Our room at the far side on the first floor was not too noisy as there is some road noise. We left windows open between the bathroom and bedroom to get a cross draught and this kept the room a comfortable temperature. However for those that feel the heat there is no air con and the duvet's can make sleeping uncomfortable, unless you take the duvet out of the cover and use just the sheet. The hotel is manned until 9ish after this time an off duty manager is available by phone. The staff we met were lovely and helpful. I realise the Lake District welcomes dogs but some diners brought their's into the dining area at breakfast and whilst a dog lover, we weren't too keen on eating breakfast with the dog around. Undecided if we would stay again. It was adequate for our needs but bit pricey for what you get.

Thank you for reviewing your stay with us. I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed the location of the Lodge. You'll be glad to know that we are painting all the guest rooms and communal areas at the moment, which should be completed within the next week. We are a dog friendly establishment and we give guests with pets the choice of taking their dog into the breakfast room if they are very well behaved, however we ask them to choose a quiet corner and if anyone does have any objections that they remove the dog from the room. We are happy to hear that the staff were friendly and helpful throughout your stay and hope that you visit again in the future.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. I booked it very spontaneously and I didn't regret it. We had a family room which worked well apart from it being next to the stair well which was a bit noisy. The staff are lovely and although there wasn't a fridge in the room there was one we could use. I only have a couple of things I wish they would change. Firstly there are no chains on the door which I think should be a must
Have in any hotel . The WiFi worked ok. Also there was a group with a dog, lovely dog but I'm not sure it should be allowed in the cafe during breakfast. The breakfast is excellent by the way. Theres no hot breakfast but don't let that put you off. There is toast, cakes, cheese, meat, fruit and much more. We had a car and I think it's a must have if your staying at the hotel. The kings head down the road where you get a discount if you show your key is the most excellent food. Would defiantly stay again.

Thank you for your comments. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your spontaneous visit to The Lodge. We will certainly consider door chains. We are a pet friendly establishment and ask guests with pets to only bring them into the breakfast room if very well behaved and to remove them if any other guests have any objections. We are really happy to hear that you found the breakfast to be outstanding and also enjoyed your discounted meals at the King's Head Inn down the road.
We look forward to your next visit.

We booked the family room which was a good size, comfortable and clean with a good sized en-suite. The hotel has enough parking a comfortable coffee bar style breakfast room and lovely views. The breakfast buffet offered plenty of choices of breads, cheeses, fruits, pastries, cereals etc.
