Booked this last minute and did not expect much. It would be nice to land at San Dominica rather than the long drive from Punta Cana. For me the worst part of my trip was check-in. The service was very slow and disorganized, though with rude tourists shouting at employees maybe they were just tired. I was lucky enough to get a room in the beach side, the Presidential Suites and the room was better than I expected. A jacuzzi bath, stand alone shower and simply appointed but large and clean room. I have heard things are not so good on the garden side. So pay the extra money and stay on the beach side. I left the room cleaning ladies a small tip and some chocolates daily and my room was always stocked with bottled water, pop and beer. Security is very evident all over the resort and I felt quite safe. The beach is beautiful and was very clean. The pools had some variety and the cool water was refreshing. The bartenders at the pool bar, beach bar and sports bar were all friendly and accommodating, which is saying a lot because I rarely heard a please or thank you from customers. The buffet and restaurants were what one would expect from a resort of this scale and there was enough variety. Overall the property could use some paint in certain areas but it is quite large and they seem to always have workers attending to the property. It is located on a tropical island after all and the weather will take a toll on buildings and paint. If you go expecting a 4 star resort on line with Aruba or similar destination you will be disappointed. If you understand you are going to the Dominican and don't mind a few rough edges, you can have a great time. One caution would be that if you want to wander off the resort and look around town you can but you will be constantly approached to buy things or go places. If is interesting for a while but then becomes irritating. I would have liked to see more of Boca Chica but became tired of the sales approach.

Room Tip: Rooms on the beach side are worth the extra cost. Fly into San Dominica if possible.

This place is a horible place, better stay home than going to garden view rooms, or if you pay more, choose ocean view rooms, they are nice rooms with nice view but still you have poor food, drink....no safety. My kid had accident there, part of a table in buffet area fell on her foot. we saw someone's foot burnt because the warmer containing alcohol and flame on the table (again at buffet) dropped on her foot.....there is no safety at all. never experienced such thing before.full of flies in the room and buffet area.
The positive point: you stay on diet, you can not eat anything, the food does not have a taste, the fruits tastes like water, qualiy of everything is not zero but below zero.

Room Tip: only ocean view, cannot do anything about food!

Be Live Hamacas in Boca Chica is a great beach hotel that offers excellent value for the money. It also has good restaurants close by and it is only steps away from the lively Duarte Street that has many cafes and it is teaming with a local life. We enjoyed exploring Boca Chica on a scooter (pasola) rented from a place around the corner from the hotel. $55 excursion to Catalina island beach was a great snorkeling experience and diving with air tank for $65 was a lot of fun. We will definitely go back!

My wife and I just got back from Boca Chica. Our stay at the Hamaca Resort was a nightmare: the conditions can best (and truly) be described as "insalubrious" and "unsanitary". We were led to a room that did not-at-all match the description and photos posted on the web-site. Both patio doors to the balcony were broken. The bathroom was filthy and had no towels. No bottled water. Floor was dirty. We spent much of our time not eating or eating out at more expensive places. The washrooms had broken soap dispenser, broken towel dispensers. The beach was constantly littered, even in the morning. We left 5$ tip for the maid every morning but each time, always something missing: towels, floor not cleaned etc. We have engaged legal action with the service provider. We will never return or frequent any Be Live hotel.

Room Tip: It would seem that their are newer rooms on third floor of the Beach Hotel. And I was told also that...

We had blackouts all the time; management doesn't care at all; staff is friendly but they do not have much to work with..Filthy rooms; food is terrible; drinks aweful; This place felt like a refugee camp...The only good thing was the Beach, sun and the pool...We spent as much time outside as possible because the inside was aweful!!! There are a bunch of better resorts in DR...Please skip this place!!! If u have children really skip it because it's full of prostitution too...

At arrival 7:20pm. Went through 2 different rooms, until we decided to upgrade to a "better room" for an extra $210. As the rooms they were giving us were filthy. The upgradet room still had problems - mould, dirty beds, leaking ceiling, water on the floors, no water pressure in shower. We were so tired and hungry (travelling with 4 year old) that we decided to stay. 10:15pm - Barely made it for dinner. The food was HORRIBLE. There were locals being let in to the resort pools and buffet. We noticed them putting food in to plastic bags. They would get preffered service at the bar. They occupied the pools early in the mornings and were loud. All This was unbelievable...
The kicker though - The hotel staff ignored complaints about the water leak in our room 3 times. No one fixed anything. 3 days later my wife slipped on the wet floor in our room causing an injury to her tailbone(she was crying from the pain-alot of trauma) that prevented her from getting out of bed for the duration of the trip. We are now back and spending time and money on a chiropractor. This was a nightmare of a trip, caused by overall negligence and lack of customer service.
Don't waste Your TIME - MONEY. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE THE ANGER WE FELT STAYING THERE.
Talked to other people there. Most were extremely dissatisfied...
